For an area with so much focus on total immersion, it seems odd to have rides which are just 'rides' as opposed to 'experiences' (obviously the fact DD was there already is a major factor here..)

Don't worry. Someday Dueling Dragons will look just like it does in Japan...

^Haha, touche'

I may have missed it but was Roaring Rapids (or whatever the Shanghai rapids ride is called) closed or just not open during the winter months? That ride looks awesome but the videos I watched it seemed pretty mediocre, then again what rapids ride isn't.

Next up was the "Cedar Point of Japan..." Nagashima Spaland!

Image
This morning we are at Nagashima Spaland filming on the new Acrobat flying coaster! It's like alternate universe Manta! :)

Image
Filming is going well at Nagashima Spaland! Next up... Steel Dragon now!

Image
The staff at Nagashima Spaland are amazing! One of the reasons why we love this park!

The Ultra Twister is one of my favorite classic roller coaster designs! So glad Nagashima Spaland still has one!

Image
Riding Acrobat at Nagashima Spaland does this to you!

Image
Love this view of Steel Dragon from Acrobat!

Image
Damn! Steel Dragon looks good all lit up!

Image
Yes, it's exactly like Manta is almost every way, but it's GREAT!

Image
The park is getting an S&S free spin coaster next year! It's already track complete!

Image
Image
Ok guys... assume the position!

Image
Image
Let's just make something clear right now... This toilet is WAY smarter than you'll ever be!

Image
Image
White Cyclone... still one of the most impressive looking wood coasters ever made!

Image
Just look how pretty that is!

Image
Dear Jack, I miss you. Wish you were here. Signed, the Nagashima Spaland Ferris Wheel.

Any park with Pokémon themed attractions is going to be a win for Kristen!

Matt bought the official White Cyclone cookies! And he shared them with everyone! Want one?

Image
Nagashima also has a classic Schwarzkopf shuttle loop! Love these coasters!!!

I really am a sucker for Shuttle Loop coasters! Nearly 40 years old and still thrilling riders!

The Bobkart is another fun & fairly unique ride at Nagashima Spaland

OMG! OMG! Two roller coasters in one pic!!!

And yes, this version of "Cedar Point" still has Demon Drop!

So we just survived a first generation Freefall ride! lol

The Haunted House is sort of uniquely Japanese! It's so odd to me that people get legit freaked out in this! I wish I understood the culture more, but it sure was "interesting..." Here's a video:

Here's a few pics from Hanno's camera...

Awesome reports! I loved Nagashima Spaland! I'm so glad they still have the Ultra Twist, the 1st generation free fall, and the shuttle loop.

I don't understand why America doesn't have those awesome Asian toilets. When I went to South Korea for business, I literally sat on the toilet for like 20 minutes at the hotel trying out (most of) the features!

Seriously...we NEED these in America!!!

I also should have pointed out that we were at Nagashima Spaland just a couple of days after Christmas, EVERY SINGLE coaster was open, it was like 45 degrees outside, and the entire park was in operation. Explain to me again why we can't have more parks open in America during the winter?

Nagashima Spaland looks "generic" on the surface, but it's a cool place. I really like their haunted house (so wonderfully weird), and Acrobat looks like fun, too.

I'm glad you had fun at Nagashima Spa Land!

Just one question: how did the bobkart work? Is it like an alpine coaster where you control the speed? Or is it automatically powered?
Coaster Count: 96
1990's: "ugh. I hope we don't get a Vekoma"
2010: "I really hope we get a Vekoma!"
