chickenbowl Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 TPR posted a picture on twitter of the completed drop! the fan page, Mako Madness also has some great pictures! That drop is really f'in steep! Compared to Goliath at SFOG (with the same height), it is a huge difference!
KarlaKoaster Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Between Cedar Fair and the Busch/Seaworld Parks, you guys in the States get such beautifully coloured coasters.
mpmbee Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Wow, looking great. I wonder why the straight section at the bottom of the drop.

That drop is really f'in steep! Compared to Goliath at SFOG (with the same height), it is a huge difference! I can't wait to ride Mako. There should be a lot of airtime. I can't wait to see how the ending overbanks, and the hammer head (the first banked turn) will look like One thing I don't get is why El Toro's drop looks larger than Mako's, despite the fact that Mako has a bigger drop.
Brassinthegrass Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 probably the sheer size of the structure... Steel Coasters rarely have a reference size, with a wooden coaster you can see a person next to the first level of wood and then grasp the immense size! This drop looks like one hell of a fun back seat ride!
DoinItForTheFame Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 ^ El Toro's drop probably looks bigger because it has all those wooden supports holding up so with there being more "stuff" around the drop it makes it look bigger. Mako has few supports around the drop so it just looks smaller because there's not as much "stuff" around it to make it look bigger. (I hope that made sense.) It's just how our brain perceives things.
chickenbowl Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Here's a picture of the profile of B&M's other 200' hyper, look how much steeper Mako is!! Should be really fun!
Nitro1118 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I'm with you guys...the drop looks steeper than I imagined, with a tighter radius and smaller pullout than most B&M mega coasters. Should be one of B&M's best first drops towards the back row!
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 That screams ejector air in the back just by looking at it!
I love pie Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 That screams ejector air in the back just by looking at it! I doubt that. This is a B&M hyper, it will most likely have no airtime, and be forceless. In case anybody couldn't tell, that was sarcasm.
rcjp Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 It does look pretty steep for a B&M hyper (even considering it has seven car trains only)
Projektion Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 I imagine that since they are using the 4 across trains instead of the long ones, B&M are able to use a similar shaped drop to the one on the Giga's allowing it to be much steeper than normal.
rcjp Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 ^It looks almost as steep as the gigas and those are significantly taller so while it might also be related to the length of the trains I wonder if it makes a big difference.
I love pie Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 ^It looks almost as steep as the gigas and those are significantly taller so while it might also be related to the length of the trains I wonder if it makes a big difference. It's Fury is 6 degrees steeper than this.
rcjp Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 ^Yeah I just saw it was 75. But still fairly steep for a B&M hyper
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 It's the shape of that drop, you'll get a nice initial pop or ejector and the parabolic second half is going to keep you off your seat the whole way down.

If what you say is gonna be true, than Mako's drop will kinda be like Skyrush's drop in reverse (I heard Skyrush's drop has floater when it starts, and ejector at the end).
ZeroGravity55 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 B&M has been trending up since Banshee was built and I've had this thought that perhaps some younger engineers are starting to get into the mix in their company and are starting to push the limits a bit more. I mean Walter and Claude are getting pretty old, and if they want their business to continue after they're gone, they're going to have start grooming their successors. That's my random thought for the day.

robbalvey Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Here's some photos from today where Elissa and Kristen visited SeaWorld for their "Wild Days" event! KT is covering #WildDays @SeaWorld Orlando for us today! New this year is a scavenger hunt for kids with a prize! Journey the opossum was rescued by @BuschGardens and now lives as an ambassador @SeaWorld Orlando. Super cute! '' 'Murica!! Matty is a 13 year old bald eagle. They are found in 49 US States. Guess which one you can't find them in? Mako is changing the view inside Shamu Stadium. Getting a special viewing of Ocean Discovery. Shamu reminds you: Even with #Mako coming, this is still his park! Not even KT was brave (or warm) enough to sit in the soak zone! #FloridaWinter Need to refuel during #WildDays @SeaWorld? KT highly recommends the new Pretzel Kitchen! KT is not tall enough for #Mako; these Flamingos sure are though! Part of #WildDays @SeaWorld include meet and greets with famous animal conservationists like @JungleJackHanna Starting the Wild Weekend Show #WildDays on a serious note with @JungleJackHanna. "@SeaWorld is important" Hey look! They finished the first drop for Mako! Love these Mako teasers in Shark Encounter! Kraken & Mako having fun together. Can't wait to enjoy all 3 world class B&M coasters here this summer. You can catch @JungleJackHanna at #WildDays again tomorrow! Great show with fun animals. Wild Days runs the next couple of weekend at SeaWorld and you can get more information on their website: http://www.seaworld.com
chargersmichael Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I know that there are some people that think Mako will not be too exciting...but I think this will be a fun ride! There really aren't a lot of airtime coasters in Florida and I'm glad that Florida is finally getting a B&M Hypercoaster! When this was announced...I was hoping the drop was going to be a steep one. Goliath at SFOG really doesn't have that steep of a drop. I'm excited to take a back row ride on Mako when it opens to feel the ejector air on this drop! I personally think this is going to be a great turn out for SeaWorld and a fantastic ride!
The Yeti Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 Mako's first drop went up fast and it looks beautiful! It seems like we're still barely getting started with construction, but the more I see, the more I get excited for this ride...at least until trims are added!
cfc Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 It's always fun to listen to Jack Hanna. I've caught him in Williamsburg a few times, and his visits are very popular here, too.
Philrad71 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 I really enjoyed his show at BGT last year! He took some nice swipes at CNN and Blackfish, which was a good thing.
