Photo TR: Hansa Park & Heide Park Resort

Recommended Posts

Hello, everyone!

From 13 to 15 September 2015, I went on a mini-mini Mega Trip in the North of Germany, to visit Hansa Park & Heide Park Resort.

First park of the trip was Hansa Park, an amusement park located next to the Baltic Sea. The last couple of years, they really invested in adding some real thrills, like Fluch von Novgorod and of course Schwur des Kärnan, the latest addition in the park. And they definitely had a huge hit with that ride! It is simply amazing.

Enough talking, let’s check it out!

Willkommen im Hansa Park (that's German for Welcome in Hansa park).

DSC_0004.thumb.JPG.f5149debc10193a94ac4d44f98375113.JPG

From the very moment you enter the park, you can feel the great atmosphere.

DSC_0007.thumb.JPG.b7346fa89283de5872fe61471260737d.JPG

Rasender Roland, the Vekoma Junior Coaster of the park. I love how it interacts with the loop of Nessie.

DSC_0032.thumb.JPG.706c8fe1c9dd9f2592125e9e87f0b656.JPG

What do I see there in the back? A big tower and some dark green track. Hmm.. That needs some further investigation later this day.

DSC_0023.thumb.JPG.ea2b8ac6ed1c62c33a33c0f3d1c1954b.JPG

Say hi to Nessie, the oldest coaster in the park. But that doesn't say anything. Because this is a Schwarzkopf looper!

DSC_0042.thumb.JPG.1953585417d4abc589c0a1c5ed1ae896.JPG

This ride was actually pretty fun. Not that rough, and you get lots of airtime in the back!

DSC_0030.thumb.JPG.fe62fad931d99c993e7209dfc0a7ee31.JPG

A random lighthouse. And ow yeah, a coaster train too.

Leaving the helix, into the uhm.. Giant fishie thingy?

DSC_0052.thumb.JPG.00a75d0b5aad858fcd01540729cd72a4.JPG

This giant fish was very hungry! It ate one full Schwarzkopf train about every 5 minutes. Insane!!

DSC_0029.thumb.JPG.82d59715c9128abd5eea60c8758b6ceb.JPG

Troika! That guy is pretty creepy, though... Don't look at him too long. He will give you nightmares!

DSC_0055.thumb.JPG.4b6a592dec4e44329954c994052afac5.JPG

They even have a Looping Starship! I love these rides.

DSC_0101.thumb.JPG.96f603da4115e3091189c4ec7dcbd85d.JPG

Next coaster was the Crazy Mine. A Maurer Wilde Maus.

DSC_0162.thumb.JPG.d98ec6c61c27b607a99738acf3ec7166.JPG

Good theming, like almost every ride in the park.

DSC_0115.thumb.JPG.2ea89003565b1a81768f0f4314ccf2e0.JPG

Crazy Mine once again. But I think you are all watching at something else ;)

DSC_0062.thumb.JPG.b335cb5c1f42bbb3c760197f95b6c4cd.JPG

The real reason we got here. But we will come back to you later, my dear. Don't leave.

DSC_0176.thumb.JPG.dfc985e41ea0785d4116421b13507450.JPG

They also have this great family coaster, Die Schlange von Midgard.

DSC_0215.thumb.JPG.b49788c7766fdac063d82b2244b5adba.JPG

It is really fun! I liked it a lot.

The famous swinging bell ride of the park.

DSC_0251.thumb.JPG.e07c5b28456c6ddf41038dae9bb48e5b.JPG

Fluch von Novgorod. An awesome Gerstlauer coaster! And amazingly themed.

DSC_0239.thumb.JPG.e72ac5977e0d1003a92dd8ec9f8013b5.JPG

The train departs from the station, and travels through a small indoor dark ride section. The train then drops down a small dip which leads right onto the LSM launch. It launches the train from 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) in 1.4 seconds, immediately into a hard banked turn to the right, and out of the building into a great airtime hill!

Novgorod was awesome.

KÄRNAN!!!! Gerstlauer and Werner Stengel did a pretty awesome job with this one.

Really, the airtime here is amazing!

DSC_0167.thumb.JPG.e4f99291c7a83edd503cb727675a8ea6.JPG

Did I mention that Kärnan, with a height of 73 meters (240 ft), is the second tallest coaster in Europe?

DSC_0114.thumb.JPG.a8546602409b0c063580a7a30b943e64.JPG

And with a top speed of 127 kph (79 mph), it is also the second fastest non-launched coaster in Europe!

DSC_0133.thumb.JPG.257498cc4db3fbde5babf347247870f4.JPG

The trains look great too!

It is massive!

DSC_0185.thumb.JPG.05c08dd3c400d5d45cb606b38055394a.JPG

Kärnar is also the first roller coaster ever to have a "reverse freefall" drop on the lift hill!

Hello everyone!

As promised, here are the photos and my report from Heide Park Resort.

Heide Park is located in Soltau, and it is the second biggest amusement park in Germany. Heide Park has 9 coasters; 2 B&M's, 2 Intamin's, 2 Mack's, 2 Vekoma's and a Zierer. Great line-up for a European Park, if you ask me. And of course, it is home to one of the best wooden coasters in the world, Colossos!! Their newest addition was built in 2014, a B&M Wing Coaster, called Flug der Dämonen. It is a good ride, but definitely not the best coaster in the park.

The weather that day wasn't that great. It was drizzling all day. And at noon, the drizzling turned into pouring rain. It was so bad that all the coasters were closed for about 2 hours. At 3pm, the rain finally stopped and every ride reopened. Because of the rain, the park was almost completely empty. The longest queue time that day was 10 minutes.

Enough talking, let's check it out!

The Pirate themed area is definitely the best themed area of the park.

There will be no show today..

First coaster of the day, Krake!!

DSC_0268.thumb.JPG.28d5cae99b9555541666599fa895a998.JPG

Krake opened in 2011. With its height of 'only' 41m (135ft), it may not be the tallest Dive Coaster out there. But it is my second favourite coaster in this park.

Great trip report of two really good parks. I like Kärnan a lot to, that first drop in the tower is amazing. In the backseat it feels a bit like Expedition GeForce's first drop, but in the dark! The rest of the ride is really good too, but not great, in my opinion. I thought it had a pretty significant rattle in the outer seats for such a new ride. What did you think? Oh... And I Nessie!

I totally agree about Colossos being by far the best coaster at Heide-Park. It's such a fun ride. I might be alone here, but I actually preferred Heide-Park before they started 'theming' the different areas. In my opinion it comes off as quite cheaply done (especially in the back of the park) and not very harmonic. Yes, it was 'generic' before, but beautifully landscaped. Anyway, who cares, they have a great coaster collection, and Flug der Dämomen is a real winner as well!

I didn't really notice the rattle.. There are smoother rides, absolutely! But I thought Kärnan was actually pretty smooth for a Gerstlauer. I am wondering if that would still be the same in a couple of years...

Can I ask you how long the waiting time was for Karnan when you were there?

All the rides in the park had a waiting time of about 10 minutes. Except for Kärnan, the whole day around 50-60 minutes. But it's worth the wait!

I really enjoyed these two parks on two TPR trips. Need to get back to them, as they've made a lot of changes since. I'm particularly intrigued by Karnan. Do they still have the "haunted queue" for the Wing coaster at Heide?

Do they still have the "haunted queue" for the Wing coaster at Heide?

Yes, the queue itself was still haunted. But there were no 'Demons' walking around..

What? I never knew there were sometimes people to scare the visitors!

I know that when the ride opened, there were 'Demons' walking around the area, as part of the theming. But I don't know if they still do that.. However, the ride operators are still wearing 'Demon' suits.
