Mrlittle Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 ^That is awesome news for Magic Kingdom. I'm just thinking at night, how much more room there will be. So smart of them to utilize all of the land available in that small area.
Intimidator305 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 As a landscape architecture student, I LOVE this. It seems to be a great design, which will significantly improve this area quite a bit.
XYZ Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Wow, this is really an improvement over the older one.
robbalvey Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 This is GREAT news! Going to really open up that whole area and help with crowding issues around parade and fireworks times. And even though they are taking away some of the green areas, I think that real estate is way to valuable to not be functional. And I think some people won't even notice that they have done this, yet will find themselves having more room during shows. HUGE IMPROVEMENT, IMO!
traincrossin Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Looks like the most has already been drained too. Tweet
Condor Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 So in other words, "We're getting rid of water and grass!" Terrific PR spin, but I agree it's probably a good thing for crowd flow.
simon8899 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Looking fine. How about adding some fountains like in European gardens - as a kid I loved to play in/around them.
Millionaire2K Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Looking fine. How about adding some fountains like in European gardens - as a kid I loved to play in/around them. Pro tip: There are 2 fountains in the plans.
rosscoe Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Having not been at WDW for over 20 odd years, does this enchainment need to happen, will it help with crowds?
simon8899 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 ^^have not noticed that. But the best fountain to play always was the "Wasserklopps" at the Berlin Europa-Center...such memories of getting totally soaked and loving it...
cfc Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Being as parades and fireworks are very important at the Magic Kingdom, it's probably wise to expand the viewing areas by the castle (it really gets jammed there at showtime).
SuperShawn Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Any thing that helps navigate through the crowds and hub area is a plus in my books.
arby Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Yeah, this area was a bottleneck the last time we were there. This looks like a great improvement and it should help crowds flow through the area better.

SuperShawn Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Disney seems to be enjoying these 24 hour parties. One day I'll have to do one just to say I did.
Mr Stratosphere Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Love what they are doing to the central hub!! Wow another 24 hour day? I did the "One More Disney Day" at Disneyland the last Leap Year, it was absolutely insane, but glad I did it!
PeoplemoverMatt Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I would love it if that outer ring is used for Guest Control routes while the inner ring and everything inside is for unobstructed parade/fireworks viewing. That would be great. Wonder if there will be areas for people who made FP+ reservations to view a parade or fireworks in that area, and where will they be?
simon8899 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 These special events always look great fun on TRs - but they also have amazing crowds on these days which is bad for doing rides...
robbalvey Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I would love it if that outer ring is used for Guest Control routes while the inner ring and everything inside is for unobstructed parade/fireworks viewing. That would be great. That is exactly what they do at Tokyo Disneyland and this new hub is very reminiscent of Tokyo's so I'd have to think that's at least the "plan." I personally *LOVE* this!!! I always thought that while the hub looked nice with all the gardens and water, that was a lot of real estate that was wasted. And this is a nice combination of the two. The new design still looks fantastic and lush, while at the same time still being practical. I'm assuming when it's all done, after a couple of years most people won't even notice. Kind of like no one today really notices or remembers from before Disneyland opened up the whole New Orleans in the 90s. People complained about it when they did that, but it still looked amazing and it was waaaaay more practical!
cfc Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ^Exactly. Before Disney added that bridge and reconfigured the queue in front Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland, that spot was was a really bad bottleneck--particularly during Fantasmic. The plan for the Magic Kingdom seems a logical step.
arby Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 If you saw the Ultimate Tweet that Disney did to announce their All-Night Disney Party (mentioned previously in this thread), you may be interested in seeing how they made it: Source

Glad to see them doing something similar in Florida!
Nrthwnd Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This will be such a convenience, like Tokyo Disneyland's is.
dylan9 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 This All Night Disney Party is at the Magic Kingdom right? It seems like a cool idea. They had a little one of those Disney Parties with some of the characters when I went to Hollywood Studios.
robbalvey Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) Today was the premiere of the new "Festival of Fantasy" parade at Magic Kingdom! The parade was very high energy, featured some amazing looking floats filled with old and new Disney "Classics" and many familiar faces. We chose to watch the parade from our personal favorite parade viewing area in Frontierland and had a great time! Take a look at some photos and video below including a clip with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf from Frozen! Here's the clip with Frozen: Here's is our "Entire Festival of Fantasy Parade in 60 Seconds!" - For people who have short attention spans! Enjoy! And here's a video of the entire parade: The parade opens up with the first float containing familiar faces from Disney "classics" such as Beauty & The Beast, Princess Frog, and of course.... Frozen! Say hello to my friend, Olaf! You can certainly bet they got Anna & Elsa into this new show! And they looked like they were having a great time! lol! Love that Ulf leads the Tangled float! The floats were all "big" and over the top! Ariel and lots of BUBBLES!!! The Pirates float was amazing! And I'm sure it will be a HUGE hit on gay days! Tinkerbell having a bit of fun with the crowd! Interesting that Merida was the only Pixar to be included. Kind of nice to see the focus back on Walt Disney's Animation studio. Maleficent stole the show! She even breathes fire! This Pinocchio section might be my personal favorite... why you ask? Because it includes a.... ROLLER COASTER!!! (Does this count as a credit?) And no Disney parade would be complete without some ducks.... ...and some rodents! Mickey & Minnie cap off the parade! Thanks Mickey! The parade was fantastic and I'm sure it will be a HUGE success!!! Thanks to Jack Crouse for some AWESOME photos! Edited March 11, 2014 by robbalvey
