Just renewed my pass last weekend to go to the Transformers preview. I've been waiting since 2008 to go on this thing.

I'm going to try to be there early on Saturday to see this as I anticipate the park being near capacity. Just think about it. With Universal's "Buy a day, get a year free" deal going on, everyone going to the park right now and before the end of April is a passholder.

^Not true. The annual pass is only if you pay full price for your ticket. So anyone using a discount is not getting an annual pass.

^I don't believe they're using a discount, the case is simply that anyone buying a normal day of admission is automatically a passholder. I am an annual passholder and didn't pay anything extra, it was included in my one-day ticket that I bought at the gate (unless I'm remembering something wrong). But you are correct in that if you used some sort of discount, then you wouldn't be an annual passholder. However, their promotion makes you an annual passholder.
EDIT: To be more clear, ^^ is not wrong, anyone who buys a normal day of admission becomes a passholder.

So people who bought the regular day ticket and became a passholder will not be included in the previews?

^I'm guessing they will be, since they are annual passholders. This just creates more incentive for people to buy regular admission tickets (and becomes passholders).

^^^Just to be clear, you must have payed the full $77 to get that season pass "included" with your ticket. Anyone using any sort of discount (coke can, AAA, part of a group getting the group sales discount, bought tickets from their corporate employee services office, even the child under 48" discount, etc.) is NOT getting a season pass unless they pay the difference and upgrade to an annual pass.

So while there is no doubt the promotion is popular, it is not true to say that everyone entering the park is automatically a season pass holder. Season pass is the more accurate term, since the promotion is simply for getting the rest of 2012 free (with some blackout dates). It's actually $90 if you want the pass for a full 12 months.

Getting back on the topic of Transformers, it looks like they have started training people other than the test and adjust crew! I saw a group of like 15 people in the uniform waiting outside the attraction this morning. Time to get excited!

^I got the pass in the summer while it was "buy a day get a year free," so my ticket is good through sometime in June, 12 months from when I got it. Obviously the current promotion is "buy a day get 2012 free," so everything you've said is correct. I made the incorrect assumption that the same offer still stood. ;)
