This would be great as long as they don't replace the trains. Those beautiful four benchers are almost signature of that ride now. There one of the last operating examples of four bench trains today as well...

Definitely good news for Cyclone. The ride has a lot of potential and this might just bring it out!

Agree with everyone not liking the idea of new trains though. I'm a big sucker for woodies with the old style trains....

Sounds like a great move! If we find out that the trains are being replaced, I'll shoot up there ASAP to ride it though - I'd always regret if I never got to ride the "original" Cyclone!

Next Ride: Intimidator 305 (KD)

I'm conflicted about new trains too, but they might be unavoidable.

Totally agree! I loved re-riding it but then, I only ever tried the front to middle. Then, rode the back once and wow....that was enough for a year. But then a lot of folks say that organ re-arranging feeling is what gives it all its charm. To a point maybe ;)

Hopefully a train re-build will suffice instead of a full replacement. They are definitely part of what makes the ride.

I hope they don't replace the trains, the seats are like leather couches on wheels. Plus the buzz-bars make the ride more exciting.
Yeah, I made my username before I rode I305.....

I definitely felt that too, but that's part of what makes the Cyclone what it is. At least that's what I feel about it. I'm definitely glad I got down there last year. That being said, I can definitely respect Zamperla's decision here and believe that GCI is the right company for the job.

Does anyone ever read anything more than the headline that's on the front page? :|
"As part of the final phase, we are looking into either refurbishing or replacing the Cyclone’s trains. Plans are not final, however, our vision is to keep the trains similar to the original design. When we are finished, the track and other ride systems will be state-of-the-art and will also meet current ride standards.”

^But how similar? For some people it might go beyond just the appearance. I like the buzz bars, though the extra padding is bizarre and I'm not sure how much it really helps.

It's good that Cyclone is getting new track, now they'll have more sales on re-rides now. ;)

I think GCI's Millennium Flyer trains would be good on the Cyclone since it reflects an older design.

The re-tracking will definitely help. Smoothing out the transitions and crests would throw riders around less, and not be as, umm, painful (I don't know, like I said, I still need to get out and ride the blasted thing).

Isn't the padding just some foam duct-taped to the safety bar, anyway? :lmao:
