Chroniq
Last I heard was that GE still owns 49% of NBC Universal and that Kabletown was more interested in the NBC/cable programming. Though it would be easy for them use synergy to advertise the hell out of it via they're cable and internet resources. Like others have said, 51-49%s only exist so one owner or group has control over the company. Also Comcast apparently cares enough about theme parks to buy out private equity group Blackstone's share of UO when they announced they'd be selling it after the success of Potter (and be the first company owning 100% of UO in nearly two decades) . The deal was definitely about television content, but it hasn't stopped comcast from really getting behind the spending at their parks. chris Why did Jaws get demolished and not one of the areas? It's in the back of the park. It's that simple.

alpengeist04
^That was awesome, thanks Robb. I couldn't understand a word they were saying, but at the same time I knew exactly what they were saying.

OldJJman
I'll be interested to see how the logistics of the Hogwarts Express ride will work out. Because, if it is essentially just a one-way monorail, then yes the line will be a nightmare.. If it is enclosed, or themed (ala: Ocean Park in Hong Kong, King Kong @ USH) it could also be run similar to Orient Express (funicular @ SFMM) with bypass tracks in the center, which would be backstage hidden from public view. Also, possibly providing two different riding experiences, depending on which way you'd be traveling. Anywho - that's the speculation on my part. rollin_n_coastin
^That was awesome! Just the right amount of cheese. Cool video from "Martin's Videos" on Vimeo via Screamscape Old 1990 Jaws vs New 1993 Jaws [vimeo] [/vimeo] Anyone actually ride the original 1990 version? I didn't know that this is Jaws' second death lol The boat spin effect and grenade swallowing/ exploding ending were really cool and better in concept but the current version seemed better in terms of effects quality, even if simpler. Oh and better storyline, but that could just be the actor
Chroniq
^Just wanted to say thanks to Martin for another awesome video. I had only read articles on the original version before. I highly recommend any Jaws fans check out that video.
larrygator
That's the first time I saw the original version, and do have to say I prefer the more serious nature than the over the top theatrics in later years. Then again I might only be feeling this way because of the "newness" factor in seeing the original.
Moose
^That was also the first time I have seen a video of the original. I had heard about the exploding shark but not that your boat was actually bitten! Both were very cool effects but understandably problematic. cfc
I've never ridden the original version, either, but I had heard about the boat being bitten, but not the explpoding shark. It's too bad they couldn't keep that ending, but I guess it wasn't very practical. Thanks for posting that video.

The experience will take guests on a journey through epic cinematic moments filled with heroes, horror, laughter, good vs. evil and triumph. The new show opens this spring, runs all summer and then on select nights through the end of the year. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ~ Opening Summer 2012 at Universal Studios Florida Universal Orlando’s newest attraction, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, will take guests on an unforgettable 3-D adventure with their favorite characters from the hit film – Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes and the mischievous minions. Once guests make it through training, they join an interactive, minion-inspired dance party where they can show off their best moves. Universal’s Creative team is working closely with Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment to bring this all-new adventure to life in the most authentic way possible. In fact, the beloved characters in the attraction will be voiced by the film’s original cast: Steve Carell (Gru), Miranda Cosgrove (Margo), Dana Gaier (Edith) and Elsie Fisher (Agnes). The ride’s experience is being developed by the same creative team that brought you the award-winning film, Despicable Me. The motion-picture event Despicable Me 2 arrives in theaters on July 3, 2013. Blue Man Group's updates will retain some of the more popular show experiences but will feature a good of new acts According to Mark Woodbury, The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman will feel like an entirely new experience when it reopens this March. Universal is updating the sets, audio, lighting and special effects to match the new 4K digital high quality video being installed. The timing of the ride will be adjusted to allow for more time spent in each show scene. It was heavily stressed that there would be plenty of new things to see in the updated ride footage when the attraction reopens. The Universal Superstar Parade is to have show stops with interactive dance experiences. The characters from the parade will also be available to meet guests before the parade. The Universal Superstar Parade is set to perform once per day. A new retail experience is being developed for Spongebob Squarepants and will include a meet and greet location for the characters from the show. This experience is expected to be located in the KidZone section of the park. The Universal Cinematic Spectacular not only includes water jets and waterfall screens, but will also include pyrotechnics. The show will be narrated by Morgan Freeman and is meant to be seen from any angle around the park's lagoon. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem early animation showed off guests being "Minionized," bouncing down into Gru's laboratory. Also discussed were the dates of when attractions and offerings would be arriving over the next year. Blue Man Group and the Hollywood Drive-In Mini Golf will both open this February. The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman will reopen in March The Universal Cinematic Spectacular and the Universal Superstar Parade will both debut in the Spring Despicable Me Minion Mayhem and the new water play area at Wet n' Wild will both open in the Summer [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=New_Attractions_at_Universal_Orlando_Resort_Opening_2012_kthj[/coastertube] [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=Newly-Transformed_20The_20Amazing_20Adventures_20of_20Spider_1g5d[/coastertube] [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=New_BMG_Show_Overview_f6h7[/coastertube] Universal Orlando is transforming The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man - one of the most amazing attraction experiences ever created - into what will feel like an all-new adventure. cfc
I wasn't a big fan of Despicable Me as a movie, but I did like Gru--looks like he has a cool float, too. The new Spider-man characters also look great.
