Photo TR: Europa Park Winter Opening & GCi Woodie Update!

Recommended Posts

At this time i'm spending the weekend at Europapark to check out the winter opening and progress on the new wooden Coaster.

Winter opening and the amount of lights used is just amazing and the new coaster.. Looks very very impressive.

Here's a bunch of pictures i took today to show different angles for this coaster and the current state of the build.

Enjoy.

Some technical details:

The ride will have 3 trains (GCI First), rubber wheels (GCI first) with the hard and soft option if needed and lapbars only.

I'll add some night pictures in a next update

Amazing photos, Hanno!

BTW, has anybody noticed the antirollbacks on most (if not all) of the layout? I haven't seen them placed like that on other GCIs.

Another question, how is Europa Park going to run 3 trains if there is no MCBR?

Interesting.

Any more info on those wheels ?

What does "hard and soft option" mean ?

Will they allow the park to pick throughout the season ? Maybe softer wheels in the winter, harder ones in summer ?

Or maybe they'll only use a soft wheel train - which I think would be less noisy ? - in the morning and evening, to please the neighbors ?

I doubt the public will be able to choose in the queue ? Like choose between a smooth and a rough ride ? Regular and fast ? I think that would require two stations, which the ride doesn't have.

Rubber wheels...no seatbelts...awesome!

Great that they drop the seatbelts. I never could figure out why they had seatbelts anyway. I mean you only close your seatbelt whiteout tighten them up. So they never had much use if you ask me. In Holland I've been on Joris en de Draak (George and the Dragon) at the Efteling and well I think the belts are more annoying (whit getting out of the train because you forget it's even there) than useful.

Great pictures by the way. I see that they already have a speed in the building progress after the winter. It won't take long before we can see the complete skeleton of the wooden coaster now the only have the Blue Fire bents to place.

Mmmm so much wood to see and ride on and through.

The water coaster now looks perfect, with the new wood going

around it and over it. Mm - mm!

Great photos Hanno! Thanks for updating us
