Then it wouldn't be Soarin' OVER CALIFORNIA. And therefore pointless, in my opinion...

They would just change the name, like they did at EPCOT. It would just be called Sorin'.

I've gone pantless!

LOL, yeah... Unfortunately, the ride cars have very little range of motion.

I think it would be great if they redid Soaring' with the same style of system at Star Tours, with multiple ride programs. Although, I don't think the current projector would allow for such a system.

I really want them to keep it California, as it seems like most of the park is going away from the CA theme a bit...

^Are you joking? The entrance is themed to LA, Hollywoodland is Hollywood, the Pier is the SoCal Pier parks, Carsland is set to mimic Route 66 with was a major California route, the wharf is San Francisco, Condor Flats is about our aviation history, and Grizzly is all about California forests... Other then BugsLand, what isn't themed to California?

I think that if the ever do change the film, and I hope they do soon, they can still use the CA theme. Just have the viewer take off from LAX to somewhere else in the world, then back to CA & Disneyland. Heck, they can even make it more thrilling by having near mid air collisions over LAX, just like real life. Or break free from the traveling concept, and have the guests accompany a Disney / Pixar character while they soar in the skies over CA & DL. Plenty of options really to refresh the film actually.

Woo hoo, its finally announced!

Disney Parks Blog

I’m so excited to let you know that there will soon be a new place to satisfy your sweet tooth at the Disneyland Resort. In late spring 2012, a new Ghirardelli location will open at the Pacific Wharf area, inside Disney California Adventure park!

The soda fountain and chocolate shop, similar to the location at Downtown Disney in the Walt Disney World Resort – which has been a must-do for me (and many of you, I’m sure) for 13 years – will feature Ghirardelli’s world-famous hot fudge sundaes and chocolate products. And each guest will be able to receive complimentary samples of their signature Ghirardelli Squares chocolate!

You can find out more about Ghirardelli – their chocolate treats, products and gifts – by checking out their Facebook page.

I know I’ll be counting down the days until I can get my Ghirardelli hot fudge sundae! Who’s with me?

I'm really excited for this!

ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and added a larger version of the concept art!

And it's happening relatively quickly too! From Dec 2011 to late spring 2012 is not that long of a wait. Very good news.

^Just remember that the Mission Tortilla Factory has been closed for quite some time now (since the beginning of the Summer, I believe), and the windows have been blacked out since it closed. I'd imagine they'd already started on the interior not long after it originally closed, so they probably got a good head start on prepping the building for its new tenant.
