STR8FXXXINEDGE
Hey Benny, I'm here to admit something. I actually thought that Palace Playland and Funtown Splashtown were one in the same park as well. Shhh... don't tell anyone! Haha Anyway, these were a great couple of updates. I loved Old Orchard Beach, and Funtown Splashtown was a blast, minus the bazillion mosquito's that were attacking everybody!
Groteslurf
Thanks Jen & Brian Next Park : Canobie Lake park. I've heard of the park, but didn't know what to expect. But it was a nice surprise. Another lovely park. Entrance Pretty decent woodie. TPR train Starblaster New ride but surprisingly rough already I wasn't feeling too good that day and not really in the mood for talking a lot so I explored the park on my own. There was a lake but I don't know the name of the lake ... I thought the ride would take me over the lake .... but it wasn't. Next was the splash. I mean big splash. I mean BIG splash Now you see them Now you don't Next credit And the next one There was a small but nice waterpark too And a darkride. Logflume Some pics out of the ferris wheel I really had a bad day, not because of the park, but it was just me, too much going on in my head I even didn't notice the RCT food stands in the park when I was there. I only saw this on pics of other TR's. But that's what I like about TPR trips. If you want some 'alone time', that's no problem to have that time on your own. Did another lap of the park. Getting quite full I went to have a drink in the Italian restaurant near the lake, because they had airco. And when I came out, I notice the MJ show was just starting so I went inside. Not a big fan of MJ, but the show was actually pretty good. I'm sure he wasn't singing live, because if he did, that would have been the best impersonator ever. But still, the show was really good, even if he didn't really sing. Last pic. Next up will be the legendary Montreal power outage international alcohol exchange :-) And I was feeling better by the time we arrived at the hotel and I have lots of pictures
Groteslurf
The same evening, when we arrived at the hotel, it turned out that there was a power outage at the hotel. This turned out to be the best thing ever since the amazing alcohol exchange was planned that evening. No power, no hot water, no internet, so immediately after getting rid of our luggage in the room, everybody came outside and we drank alcohol. Elissa handing out the room keys Shortly after that this started. It was so great to be outside, in front of the hotel, drinking together with another 80 coaster geeks Thank you Dave for organizing this. I'm pretty sure it wasn't cola Roxanne brought ... What can I say .... At that point I might have had just a little too much already ... I think it didn't taste too well Caesar checking out .... Moving on It was such a great evening Oh yeah, I totally forgot. We LOVE roller coasters !!! Who cares about snacks Awesome Brian Caesar, I don't think Brittney was listening to you Roxanne, what are you doing ? Well, Roxanne told me her awesome U2 adventures and showed me this awesome picture of her and Bono. Oh yeah, the picture was autographed by Bono Thanks for reading. kenshinmac
So curious what I was drinking in that pic... That was a really fun night but I was so so glad we actually did have hot water because that shower made a huge difference to how I felt in the morning. Thankfully I didn't feel nearly as bad as many people did that morning.
Sir Clinksalot
Wow, TPR Alcohol exchange looks AWESOME!!!
Skycoastin Steve
I only wish I wasn't having serious digestive issues during the alcohol exchange, I could have imbibed more! It was still a very fun night of socializing with everyone, though. Hopefully the idea carries over to future trips!
Chrisrad
Yeah, the alcohol exchange was a blast.. If I remember correctly, didn't the buses go too far past the hotels because they were pitch black? I remember there was a U-turn involved. I was also thinking that, because it was Canada and things are strange up there, maybe they don't leave lights on at night. Wasn't it Michael Moore who said they don't even lock their doors? But yeah, the alcohol exchange... lots of booze, crazy conversations with random canooks off the street, a room lit up by the glow of a cell phone, and a shower that progressively got colder.. It was seriously awesome and was slightly more enjoyable than La Roooonde.
fatdaddy
The pictures of Dave with Natty Boh in one hand and Beer30 Ice in the other are priceless. I really wasn't sure if anyone had good pictures of the exchange, and that one picture, well...moving on.
STR8FXXXINEDGE
I don't even drink and I had a blast at the alcohol exchange! It was just nice to be able to bullsh!t and hang out with everyone at the same time. Not gonna lie, I was pretty bummed when we pulled up to the hotel and it didn't have power, but it was damn fun and ended up being one of, if not my favorite night of the trip. Good times! You've documented it well, Benny!
deguy123
Great pictures of the Alcohol Exchange, that night ended up being a great night! The one Werner brought was amazing and wish I could get it here. I also worked my way though the hallways with a glow stick only to have Peirs use it for a Gaga performance twice...lol... Groteslurf
La Ronde, it's in fact a lovely park, with great background settings so close to Montreal city. But the park operations, WTF was that ? The operators were really terrible. It's so weird to visit several SF parks and see such different operations. Power repair was still going on in the morning Hans decided to wear his 'American' tshirt .... in Canada ERT on Goliath I love floater airtime so I loved Goliath I love empty parks too Wild mouse car The yearly Montreal marathon was taking place the day of our visit, and they ran through the park. I liked the bridge next to the park. YAY !!! I was quite awake after the epic evening the day before Not for lazy persons. You have to stand up ! Couldn't get enough of the bridge I guess that's Montreal city At the Dragon station, I saw this. I was confused. The hourly objective is 250 persons per hour ????? The bird was speaking french. The infamous qbot line for the SLC. At first we thought we ended up in the norma queue and we were looking for the actual qbot entrance ..... You might get wet. Thanks for reading. It doesn't have real top coasters, but the landscaping is so lovely, people are friendly, i really liked this park. ERT coaster I took a lot of TPR trains pics, so tag yourself if you like ..... oh wait, that's Facebook ! Of course, we had the Go Fast wristband. Bobsled. Quite rough i have to say. TPR trains And more TPR train pics Some unique flats. Whhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!! Roxanne and me 'bought' this kid to ride the kiddie with us. Groteslurf
Awww....Roxy was telling Steve and I about this on the way to SFGAdv. Wasn't it his birthday or something? It was quite an experience. I had never done that before, give a kid money to ride a kiddie with us. So Roxanne & me were standing there, not allowed to ride on our own. Roxanne had the idea to give a kid a dollar or 2 to ride with us. Since english is not my first language, and because it was here idea , I let Roxanne do the talking. The kid on the picture was waiting in line and Roxanne asked him. He replied 'I have to ask my mom'. He ran back to his mom and started telling that 2 adults offered him 2 dollars to ride with them .... Well, from the look on the face of the mom, I assume that must have been what het told here. She seemed VERY confused and obviously didn't trust the thing at all. But Roxy, with all her charm, started talking to the mom and explained what we do, etc. But before she could explain everything, the dad was there all of a sudden, and he didn't trust it AT ALL and was looking quite angry to us. But Roxy managed to explain it very well and the parents were ok with our proposal. The older brother of the little guy, didn't dare to ride the kiddie on his own, and he even now had the chance to ride the kiddie with 2 experienced roller coaster riders So we were there waiting to ride with the 2 brothers. However, the older brother was to tall to ride with an adult unfortunately, so as he didn't dare to ride on his own, we were going to ride with the youngest kid. We gave the 2 kids 2 bucks each, and rode the kiddie coaster together with the little kid. In the meanwhile we had already build up a deep friendship with the parents and kids and when it was time to say goodbye, the oldest kid told us : 'thank you so much, although I didn't get to ride, I really thank you'. Ok, we are 2 adults, we can cope with that. But then the little kid said thank you too and how much he enjoyed it, and thank you for the money and blablabla. The 2 kids AND parents were really smiling big time and then the mother said about the little kid : 'And it's his birthday today !!!!!! We turned around, looked at each other, and there we were, 2 roller coaster geeks with tears in our eyes. Roxy said to me : damn, this was f*cking emotional !!! But it really was. I hope the above is understandable and not to weird. I'm sure Roxanne would be able to explain the situation much better, but I did my best. STR8FXXXINEDGE
^ What a great story! I may or may not have gotten a little teary eyed just reading it. You did a fine job of explaining the story. Makes perfect sense. This was another awesome update, Benny! You've got some really good photos! cal1br3tto
Great story, Benny! I'm not surprised you two were able to pull it off. I've never felt more awkward credit whoring than when I was gearing up to ride Jr. Gemini, probably because the wait was so long. Thankfully, the chosen lady couldn't have communicated better with her child, and she conversed a little with me as well. I'm actually more uncomfortable with the idea of paying (non-TPR) kids than not; to each their own.
Groteslurf
Thanks Jen, Caesar, Brian & Laura. Groteslurf
Last park of the NE trip and what a beauty it was : Magic Forest !! I really like those small parks and especially this one. Full of muffler men, something of which I had never heard before. Well I've seen those giant puppets before, but I didn't know they were called muffler men. Parking lot mufflers And there we were, 86 adults and 2 kids entering the park. Muffler men everywhere The main reason for our blitzkrieg visit. Every few feet there are mufflers Queueing to ride. Maybe the longest line the park has ever had for their coaster. After a few epic rollbacks, we were riding. Not only muffler men, but also random rides everywhere too. Hi there ! Don't know why, but this one scares me .... Next up : SFGAdv and 4 other parks in 1 day.

Groteslurf
Time for the add on day to the NE trip : Six Flags Great Adventure. But first I have for you 4 other TR's Trent & Josh (thanks again guys !) had a rental car available and we planned to leave SFGAdv during lunch for some credit whoring at Jersey shore. We hit 4 parks in not even 5 hours time. I took lots of pics, but since it was a real credit-RUN, most pics are snapshots, I'm sorry for that. First, we hit Jenkinson's Boardwalk. Yay !!!! I really love those boardwalks right next to the ocean. Prices Lots of random flat and kiddie rides But we had some credits to conquer Credit 1 : yes, that's the train ! Proof Like I said, lots of flat rides at Jenkinson's. Credit 2 This was a great coaster TPR approved. Coming soon : Casino Pier Boardwalk
Groteslurf
Next up was Casino Pier Another awesome park Bumper cars at the beach Again lots of random flat & kiddie rides Ticket info Price info Bargains info Credit nr 3 of the afternoon Ride station Queueing Another kiddie ride Credit nr 4 But first some pics of more flats Haunted mansion I had no idea which parks we were still going to hit that afternoon, I was just following the others, but I could guess that this would be our next destination later on I sooooooo love these boardwalks Credit 4 So great I actually don't remember whether the coaster was any good, but it must have been quite slow as I obviously had time to zoom in on some attraction while being on the coaster. On our way to the next credit This muffler man escaped from Magic Forest I loved the speed of our blitzkrieg, but when I now look at this pic, I would have loved to do that ride. Drycleaning Credit 5 Some pictures from the waiting row The ride ops of this ride were really amazing They were totally enjoying their job and dancing on the music So credit 5, which was a bit of a terrifying experience Here we go Looks ok WTF ???? Technically, as you can see it is not hanging above the ocean... But it damn felt like hanging above the ocean. Another pic of the wild mouse Credit 6 No onride pics on this one as it looked (and was) quite brutal When we left for the next park, we came across some other TPR peeps Bye bye Casino Pier
