Recommended Posts

Today Six Flags Over Georgia unveiled its newest coaster, Dare Devil Dive to the media.....and Theme Park Review was there for you!

A few quick facts before we dive into the pictures (bad pun intended):

- World's first "v-shape" trains with lap bar restraints that hold 6 passengers each.

- Each train has stadium seating, providing the best view in each seat.

- Riders travel up a 90 degree lift hill reaching a height of ten stories.

- The coaster's first drop is beyond-vertical, angling in at 95 degrees.

- Elements include a diving loop, barrel roll, and immelman inversion.

- Top speed is 52 mph.

- Total ride time is 2 minutes.

Check out the POV and rider cam of Dare Devil Dive!

Not too shabby against a beautiful blue backdrop either.

Either the ride speeds up to about 150mph here, OR I may have been unfamiliar with my loner DSLR's settings. You decide.

This meal was AMAZING!!! Seriously!

During lunch we were treated to the debut performance of "Soda Shoppe Sweethearts," who sang your favorite hits of the 50's. As a fan of that genre, I thought they sounded pretty good! It was a nice touch for that part of the park.

As you can tell from the background, the stage sits adjacent to Dare Devil Dive.

After several rides on Goliath it was time to grab our swag and head on out.

Can we park here all the time, pleeeease?

And with that, we'll leave you with a couple parting shots of Goliath.

Great trip report and photos! Looks like Six Flags has another winner on their hands (What is with them this year? Haha). So now the question is can they make the GL area at SFMM look as good as GL @ SFGAdv, SkyScreamer @ SFDK, and now Dare Devil Dive @ SFOG? Hopefully so!

Cool looking ride! I like the fake fire, but I still don't like the wings on the train. That being said, I'd rather it themed and goofy than not themed and...well... six flags-esque. I like this new direction they appear to be taking.

First post updated with final pics.

^ Great to meet you as well!

Is this coaster sponsored by Lockheed Martin?!?! Or just the media day? Either way that's badass!

"Six Flags Over Georgia welcomed professional test pilots from Lockhead Martin Aeronautics to experience the new coaster. Bret Luedke, chief test pilot for Lockhead Martin's F-22 Raptor program, was one of the first to sign up. "Dare Devil Dive is as exciting as flying a modern day fighter jet," said Luedke. "From the first drop to the barrel rolls and dives, it's a fantastic ride." (via media kit release)

Was thing thing suppose to pause before the drop?

Er, what what?

Great report, Scott. I like the Eurofighters, and I'm looking forward to riding one with a lapbar.

Dare Devil Dive's mission begins as you're pulled straight up to the sky on a special vertical chain lift, then slowly roll to the top of the tower nearly 100-feet in the air. After an agonizing pause at the crest of the summit, you plummet downward at an angle that is beyond straight down — it actually angles inward at a blistering 52 mph.

^Thank you for defining what you meant by "thing thing."

Oh crap lol I didn't realized my fingers did the thinking thing on their own lol. I meant "this thing"

^^I'm guessing it's just marketing speak for the brief pause all Eurofighters have as they crest the top. Not an actual holding brake.

So I guess Mystery mine is the only "true" pausing before drop euro-fighter?

I'm not saying the layout doesn't ride well - I just don't like the layout itself. It just doesn't flow to me - I'm sure I'll get jumped on for thinking I'm better than the designers at Gerstlauer or something, which I certainly don't. I just don't like these layouts, how the elements are connected, etc. Not saying that they're bad rides at all, because that I certainly can't know until I've ridden.
