Retro Photo TR: Bush Gardens Williamsburg July 1999

Wow, I finally found these pictures! My memory is a bit sketchy, so stick with me!

My family and I travelled up to Williamsburg a few years back to visit some family and to go to BGW!

When I entered the park, it was rainy, damp, and cold. But my mouth literally dropped open. It was so unique. I really felt like I was in a foreign country. First, I believe, we rode the train around the park. That is when I saw it:

I saw an abandonned coaster adjacent to the track. I remember the guide saying something about it but I couldn't remember. All I remember is thinking why it wasn't running. I didn't realize what I had seen until 2004: Drachen Fire.

Next we rode some flats, I think the horse ride and Davinci's Cradle before riding my favorite water ride: Escape from Pompeii. This ride, if you have not ridden it before, takes you through the fiery ruins of Pompeii before plunging you into the lake below. I rode it over and over again.

Then we ate lunch and saw some rotating rising stage performance. It was pretty cool.

After this I went to see if I was tall enough for Wild Maus: closed. Bummer. Then I went and watched my dad and his brother ride Loch Ness Monster. I swear that is what got me hooked on coasters. It was just so beautiful tucked away in the trees.

Later I rode Le Scoot, the log flume and the rapids ride. Then I went to play at the Dragon's land playground. (I was only eight )

After that I think I watched Alpengeist and ate dinner. Then we packed up and headed back home.

Truly an amazing experience.

I'll try to get some more pictures. As soon as I find them.

OMG!!! Those were the little boats that I REFUSED point blank to go on when I was 4, even after going on the front of BBW...I was one messed up 4 yr. old. (for normal 4 yr. olds, it would be the exact opposite)
