Name chosen for new BGE coaster?

It reminds me of Harry Potter to much.

Although, it looks very mythological, which I do like.

Wikipidia also say's it's name is French origin. So, I guess it's going to be good considering it's being put up in the France section.

Anyway, kudos to Busch once again for thinking outside the box. Kumba, Sheikra, Montu, Griffon, etc. Thank you, thank you, thank you. The world can only take so many generic cloned names *cough* Goliath *cough*.

When I hear Big Bad Wolf, I think of the Coaster. I don't think one bit of the fairy tale. Weird, I know.

It's no Shakira, but come on, Busch usually doesn't disappoint us when it comes to names!

BGE will retheme its France section into Quahog and this ride would become The Griffen Family's Stationwagon Ride.

^They should retheme the whole park to the Simpsons, Family Guy, and Futurama. (By the way--I used to dislike Family Guy, but screening a few episodes during the UK trip has forced me to rethink my opinion a bit. Still more of a Simpsons man, though.)

Nice choice of name, I think--fits in well with Euroburg's other mythological beasties. Now if only we knew for sure what kind of a bird it will be.

Cool name, it still somewhat fits the bird theme, but at the same time has some monsterousness to it. For short, I'll call it 'Peter'. Looking forward to the logo!

It's funny ! In Quebec, a lot of people name their male cat Griffon... never heard of a bird named Griffon...

I think people from Quebec will think Griffon is a kiddy coaster... surely sounks like one in french !

Griffon is a totally gangster name in my opinion. BGE has some good name picking skills.

I love this new name. This is yet another example of Busch going with a unique name rather than the A-typical "thrill" sounding ride name.

That is a true identifier for Busch parks and they should stick with this trend in future ride naming.

I'm a little "eh" with the whole name...it sounds too much like a name you would give to a ride you made on Rollercoaster Tycoon...I don't really like it. I think BGE has some really bad names for their rides already (Big Bad Wolf? Alpengeist? APPOLO'S CHARIOT???). I think they need to fire whoever is coming up with these names, because BGA has some much cooler names for their rides. And btw, is this official that it's going to be called "Griffon"?

Apollos Chariot is kinda lame, but Alpengeist is such a cool name. BGA has sweet names minus Python and Scorpion.

It just doesn't have the fun factor of SheiKra's name. I mean, you can make countless Shakira jokes with SheiKra's name.

Anyway, should be an interesting ride. SheiKra was a really fun, intense ride.

I actually really like that name. Just seeing it next to the posted image makes me hope great things from the ride.

Exactly. Just picking a random name like "Maverick" or naming a coaster after a super hero is too easy and not clever at all. Picking an obscure name like "Griffon" gives that ride the unique identifier that makes it and the park stand out.

"Maverick" could be the name of any coaster at an Six Flags or Cedar Fair park. It just reaks of no creativity. "Griffon" is bad-ass, bold, and thought provoking.

And Griffons eat Tatsus for breakfast.

That claw could almost pass for an Eagles claw which would fit with the name.

I prefer "Gryphon", but to each his or her own.

Python", "Scorpion", and "Apollo's Chariot" are the worst names in the Busch chain.

Speaking of Busch Gardens, is there a reason why the kiddie lands do not have rides?
