Thrasher Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I took a quick run through some of the Orlando attractions today, thanks to my class being cancelled. Universal Orlando Gonna start off with a few pictures of the BMG building coming along nicely... They are getting ready to close off this area from the rest of USO, so these could be the last few pics from this angle until opening. I saw this in the ground, which I think has something to do with closing this area off and turning it into part of City Walk... They are also putting the finishing touches on the side of the building with the paint effect... Moving on, they are erecting a screen on the Twister building. I can only guess that the Mardi Gras concerts are pulling in more people and they are setting up screens for people further back in the food court area. Does anyone remember this taxi being there? All the globes are back, inflated, and in place since my last update. I think I hit the nail on the head with the cleaning, as they seemed whiter than last time. The seagulls are working on that.... Lastly, they are re-roofing Jaws... Islands of Adventure I didnt take many pictures while walking through the park. While I was watching Jurrasic Park River Adventure, I noticed a bright orange construction fence back behind the JPRA building. This is the area they used for The Skool during HHN 2005. I couldnt get any closer. Does anyone know what it is? Discovery Cove I was able to get some pictures of the prep-work being done for the rumored expansion. No real building work done yet. I think they are eventually going to have to re-work the entire parking lot for Discovery Cove, as the work being done is behind the Employee parking area... Aquatica I was able to get on the construction site of the new water park. One of the construction workers was nice enough to let me drive around the office areas to snap a few pictures, but I couldnt access the main site as it was after hours. Enjoy! Looking towards the far end of the park and the other tower... Rock work being done for the wave pool... The other tower... These next two are of the prep area where they are assembling all of the slide pieces. There were tons of em in an area roughly the sixe of 4-5 football fields... Thats it for this update. Hope you all liked it.
Homer Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Wow, Sea World's waterpark should look lovely and like SFGAm's Hurricane Harbor, but with animals! However, the BMG building tears me up every time I see it. [still mourning Nick Studios... good times...]
jedimaster1227 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Well, the Blue Man Group Theater is really starting to look nice! Every time I see a new photo on location, I wish it was June so that I could go and see the show right away. For IOA's construction, that seems new to me like a small little lot, but I am sure that it won't be the long rumored flyer that everyone has been talking about for years... As for Aquatica, I look forward to seeing this new park as it is a long overdue addition to the Seaworld Orlando Resort.
SharkTums Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Not sure if I agree with the color choices for Sea World's Waterpark. I had thought it was going to kind of 'blend in' better and be more about clear tubes, animals, stuff like that.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 ^Exactly what I was thinking. I was expecting a lot more theme and unity to their color scheme. Honestly, it looks like a larger version of Knott's Soak City. It also looks like they are using the usual plug and play lay outs for tube slides, drop slides, etc. Nothing original as of yet. Honestly, I was expecting more from the Busch Group.
Thrasher Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 Yea, Im sad to say I didnt spot any clear tubes on site. To be honest, I had forgotten about that design. I am willing to bet its going to be more like windows instead of a completely clear tube.
metrock Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 It was sad enough to hear of the closing of Nick Studios. How weird it is to see the building a completely different color and scheme. Oh how I miss those days of "What Would You Do?", "Double Dare", "Legends Of The Hidden Temple", and so on.
verticalzero Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 4-5 Football pitch size is massive for a water park, are there are plans or drawing of how the park will look...?
JT3000 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Aquatica - they just started building it and it already sucks. Nice Six Flags impersonation. Won't even comment on the pink slide, as much as I'd love to.
