Photo TR: Disney's Dessert Discovery 2014 at Epcot

Recommended Posts

Last week I had the chance to revisit the Disney's Dessert Discovery event that runs as a part of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival each year. The event is hosted in the World Showplace venue, the former home of the Millennium Village during the Millennium Celebration at Walt Disney World. Included in the extra-cost admission (park admission is required for access to this event) is access to this special venue, all you care to enjoy food and drinks (plenty of alcohol-based options included), live entertainment and a reserved viewing space to see Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at the end of the night. In other words, this event is WELL WORTH IT! But I'll let the pictures do the talking! The event runs once a week, on Fridays throughout the remainder of the Food & Wine Festival! Book now if you can because this event will sell out!

It was a beautiful evening at Epcot despite the light drizzle.

Here's a double rainbow.

Rose and Crown Pub fans will be thrilled to know that a line of branded merchandise set around the pub is available for purchase inside of the Festival Center.

Loved these themed banners! (I'm easy to impress as a Disney fan.)

Each guest receives this awesome keepsake guide for the event detailing the menu for the event, which varies slightly between each event night.

Get to the food already!

Here is the charcuterie section, which features cured meats and other savory items. My personal favorites were the veal and the venison sausage.

So much good food!

The venue is huge and all food options have two booths within the setup to ensure that there are never any shortages of food or long lines for any one section.

There is no shortage of alcohol either.

No shortage whatsoever!

I mourned the loss of the Country of Cheese by eating this entire setup!

Pretzel sticks!

With some amazing dips! The four cheese beer dip was my personal favorite!

They even had flavored popcorn! The Key Lime Popcorn was killer!

I went back for this Kerrygold Cheese selection several times throughout the event. Kerrygold has always been one of my favorites...

Bliss!

Notice the mug, filled with maple-flavored whisky with a hot apple cider cocktail mixed in. The perfect cold-weather drink I've been looking for! Something to save for the next few months of cold in Florida!

I'm not normally a whiskey person but this selection was extremely enticing!

This is seriously why I'm here.

Flambéed Doughnuts!

They were incredible!!!

027.thumb.JPG.43f36a604f8ce849adb76aee19bbfae2.JPG

There are lots of finger food-style desserts as well.

028.thumb.JPG.6e78610a12ac1d7d50c77484226dc639.JPG

And the most unique dessert option goes to...

029.thumb.JPG.1d419dd623d4482ee5aaa8d3ec283832.JPG

They even themed the stations to match the abstract dessert item's presentation!

030.thumb.JPG.13205706a48f68219fef6b3f845ba4de.JPG

The "hot dog" is made of mixed berry ice cream, the mayo is whipped cream and the bun is yellow cake.

031.thumb.JPG.859493dcfacc6355ff8ceacdc572351c.JPG

They even have a toppings bar that features faux ketchup, relish and mustard!

032.thumb.JPG.90cb26043b9d4b7c6b566ff524762b49.JPG

I like to indulge when it comes to food.

033.thumb.JPG.add60e65b62a8ed317ef104c32e619bd.JPG

The evening's entertainment came from Drey-C, a great local band at normally performs at Downtown Disney. They were seriously awesome!

This rum. Sooooo good!

Yes, I went back for more doughnuts.

036.thumb.JPG.2aa195818fa1eb69ae2151a0cee69a1e.JPG

Time to head out for the fireworks!

037.thumb.JPG.946dffc7465cf4818542ec1ce2402d72.JPG

A nice treat was being given these special glasses for the fireworks viewing. It is hard to see, but these glasses transform the fireworks into falling Mickey ears. The effect is insanely cool!

It was a perfect cap to a fantastic event at Epcot. This is one that I very highly recommend checking out if you get the chance!

^Adam, what is the price for the event? I'm dying just looking at that, even more so than the regular Food and Wine stuff.

They really need to make flavored popcorn a regular item at the US Disney parks.
