Changjiang Water World - Zhongshan, Guangdong China

Hi all!

A "new" Chinese theme and water park is going to open on July 16th 2011. It is located somewhere near Zhongshan in the Guangdong province in southern China. I read that this park used to exist until May 2009 as "Changjiang Land" but has been closed and underwent extensive works to basically create a brand new park.

Apparently the park is financed by the roller coaster manufacturer "Golden Horse" which is located somewhere in that area as well. This could be interesting, maybe it is similar to Europa Park Germany where the park is built primarily to showcase the rides to potential customers. It looks like there will also be a water park area as well as rides and at least 1 coaster.

Changjiang Water World:

"Changjiang Water World has an operating capacity of 6,000 tourists, cost 200 million RMB, and occupies one hundred thousand square meters. Based on Changjiang Reservoir’s water provision and beautiful natural environment, the Water World provides tourists with not only natural scenery but also fourteen interesting, exciting, and advanced water amusement and leisure facilities such as Overfly Rainbow, Time Shuttle, Deep Sea Whirlpool, Big Wave Shuttle Boat, Rain Forest Tribe, Children Fun World, Jungle Drift, SPA, Aegean Bay, and so on. “In addition, there are also a fitness center, a nursing station, food and beverage services, and a show pier around the corner of Aegean Bay where there are performances every day,” said Zheng Jian-Ping, Vice General Manager of Changjiang Water World"

I came across this the other day. Looks nice but I can't say I am surprised to see Golden Horse completely rip off another companies design yet again though.

I would LOVE to see the Golden Horse catalog!

It's just so amusingly bad at this point! They should really watch that video they make you watch on China flights with Jackie Chan explaining NOT to pirate goods!

I wonder if some of the established coaster companies like Vekoma and Mauer and Zamperla maybe sell their designs to this Golden Horse Company for them to manufacture and install the rides under their name exclusively in a certain region of the world (China) that those companies maybe don't want anything to do with? I know a lot of other industries have manufacturers reps that "represent a company in a certain region". A lot of times these companies are their own individual business that just sell whatever it is that they "represent". So maybe this Golden Horse does the same thing under their own company name with Vekoma and Zampera's designs in hand and permission (and their money in Vekoma's hands).
