Hattuchili
Photo-TR: Hopi Hari + Wet´t Wild in Sao Paulo, Brazil My First Theme Park In Brazil (+ I Burned My Neck) - Part 1 Hey everyone, I can not really remember when I posted my last PTR from a theme park visit? It feels like years. But finally I had the chance to visit a theme park here in brazil. My fiance (it is still strange to say that) and I left Sao Paulo for the christmas days to relax without any bad traffic and any smog at all. We were driving to a nice city (Campinas) around 2 hours away. The good thing, there was a Wet´n Wild water park and the Hopi Hari theme park near by the hotel. We could use a free shuttle to visit both parks and I finally could ride some coasters in brasil, which was even better. Part 1 - Hopi Hari: After spending a long time at Disney, isn´t it very easy anymore to not compare every other theme park with a Disney park. But since I have not been to a theme park for a long time, was everything fine. The park was kind of empty, which was great for us. The overall theming was nice and the park was clean. We right made our way to the first and biggest attraction, a wooden coaster. There we were staying nearly 1 hour in the sun, to finally ride the coaster. They were only running 1 train, which was the reason for the long waiting time. The ride itself was not feeling very good. My lapbar was not really closing and I was holding on to it the whole time, to stay in the seat. I really thought Gwazi at Bush Gardens was the worst wooden coaster I have been to, but this one was worse. Anyway, after that horrible ride we got 3 more coaster, a shuttle loop, a kiddie powered coaster and a indoor spinning coaster. Except the wooden coaster was everything okay. We also spend some time on the river rapids to cool down for a while. So, in total I got some new credits and burned my neck, what a great day! --Soren Thanks for reading, more is coming, soon! and here? Yes, where is everyone? After all that we made our way back to the entry, but what is missing here? Yes, with a dancing german couple! ugh Outdoor part... Will the ride ever end? ... with a horrible song! Yes, it was worse than the origianal. ... in a very scary and cheap version... ... It´s a small world after all, it´s a small world after all... Hmm, this really looks like... Alerta! Please stand up while riding and throw your glasses and cameras into the water. Thanks! Ahhh, Kastel Di Lendas... What? Boats in a canal? Hmm, what is that? Which was closed for the lunch break of the employee...!? Never had that before at a park. Anyway, we come back later. Next Billi Billi There they had a nice dancing show. A Saloon, let´s check it out. was kind of empty today. The Wild West... ... Yes, we enjoyed the ride. ha ha ... ... Rio Bravo, to cool down. Sesam street fountin. up there and back. through the loop. Katapul. The loading station. The ride was not bad at all, up to the next one. Uhh, someone needs to cut his nails. Vurang. Okay, here is the next one... 1 Million question: Who finds the sponsor of the park in this picture? Nice theming here. After that horrible ride we made our way to the next coaster. I think it looks better, than it actually was. The train in action. Lifthill shot The loading station. Ahh, there is the coaster and a long line, waiting for it. They are also still happy and looking forward. That is what I am looking forward to. (I was thinking that at this point) rondom photo point. Park Map. No, La Tour Eiffel. Tower of Terror? The main street. Hmm, looks more european style here. A friend of Alessandra visited the park with us. There we are, the entrance. and Hopi Hari. Next morning and the view to both parks / Wet´n Wild and Hopi Hari. Anywhere there is the water park... Our hotel for the next couple nights. cobra_roll06
Hey nice TR! Hopi Hari seems very much like a European park. Has a sort of Terra Mítica feel to it.
nemesis-storm
Very nice trip report Soren. The park looks very well themed etc. However it makes me miss 'Thunderlooper' How was Katapul ? Look forward to rest of your trip report.
Hattuchili
However it makes me miss 'Thunderlooper' How was Katapul ? Yes, Katapul (or do you want to call it: Thunderlooper or King Kobra) really made it around the world in the last 30 years. Actually I am not a big fan of these shuttle loop coasters, so for me it was not bad at all. I have no idea if the coaster is better or worse then it was as "Thunderlooper" at Alton Towers!? But hey, it looks like you have been on the coaster as well, at Alton Towers, right? --Soren

Oh yes I went on "Thunderlooper" many times & always enjoyed it. Hence my little bit of sadness seeing pictures of it. But also I'm very glad it's still operating
robinschroder
My thoughts exactly - Thunderlooper was great! Those were the days - a ride on Nemesis, then a ride on Thunderlooper, back to Nemesis, and so on... - hours and hours of fun!! Glad to see that it's safe and well! TexTitan01
1. I know who the sponsor is! But I wont say, lest I ruin the fun for everyone else. 2. I may be culturally incorrect, but I think everyone left the park to go for a siesta (big long snooze in the middle of the day). Hmm, I bet Latin American parks can prove to be quite accessible during siesta...no crowds!
jackskellington101
Ok, that is one terrifying dark ride. They took the scariest ride at Disney and modified it to terrorize more people than ever before. Awesome TR Soren. Can't wait to see more.
odene497
This is a really nice TR. It put me back in the summer mood. And Montezum looks really cool, too bad it was crappy. Looks like a nicely themed park.
TheRapidsNerd
Now that's a neat park. I like the themeing, and the style. Thanks for sharing this and for the Rio Bravo pics (Big grin). Yes, Katapul (or do you want to call it: Thunderlooper or King Kobra) Wondered if that might have been the King Kobra. Good to to see it running. As for the sponsor in the picture...I'll pm you with the answer, as the person above had the right idea of not spoiling the fun. Looking forward to the next chapter. bdstrom
That is it! I must convince my wife's relative to take us there! We're going to Rio and Sao Paulo this February and some of wife's relatives do not live too far from Hopi Hari! *spins in excitement!* I think I'll send them a link to this thread and say PLEAAASSEEEE! Keep it up and looking forward to more of pictures.
coasterdude5
Looks like a cool park, but the end was a bit creepy with the abandoned entrance plaza, haha. Great trip report.
knottslover77
looks like the park has some decent theming. I love those shuttle loops, but unfortunately i've only been on Montezooma's Revenge. --Jay
Hattuchili
Wondered if that might have been the King Kobra. Good to to see it running. I don´t know if it is the King Kobra, but Katapul originally opened at Kings Dominion in 1977. Then the coaster went to the Jolly Roger Amusement Park for 2 years from 1987 to 1989. After that the coaster went to Alton Towers till it came to Hopi Hari in 1999. --Soren
xtremefelix
Hopi Hari have a debt bigger than R$100 million( USD 50 million). That's why Montezum(wood) is in a very bad shape.

First of all, let me congratulate you on the engagement!! I didn't know! Second, enjoyed your trip report and laughed out loud at the ghetto Small World ride. Definitely looking forward to the next installment. Shari, we only told our family and near friends that we got engaged, but thanks for the congrats. I am happy to have her in my life and enjoy every day we can spend together. The ghetto Small World ride was really scary and the song was even worse. --Soren

Hmm, I think she is 24 years old and her english was not bad at all. I mean my portuguese is worse. So, for any other info I need to charge you a fee. RIP Psyclone
^Oh you so could! I need to work on my Portuguese, even though Spanish is similar enough sometimes.
