Photo TR: SFSTL Closing Day (10/29/06)

Postby VegasCoaster » Thu Nov 02, 2006 2:05 pm

Here goes my 2nd Photo TR!

We got to the park at around 3 since I had some homework to take care of before I could enjoy myself, which actually turned out to be just enough time to do eveything worth while. I would have pictures from Fright Fest but my camera battery decided to start dying in the line for Superman: Tower of Tower of Steel: The Ride. Not that I would have had many pictures because the line for just about all the Fright Fest things seemed to be three hours long. Did get a few good night rides on Boss, Screamin' Eagle and Mr. Freeze though. Aside from not getting to do anything Halloweeny aside from the one scare zone, we had a very fun and enjoyable day at Six Flags St. Louis (now the most dangerous city in the US and the home of the Nation's best baseball team!).

Without further ado, the pictures!

The parking lot actually wasn't too full for coming to the park late and it being Fright Fest and all.

While we were walking towards the front gate I couldn't help but notice Mr. Freeze was actually running! They had two train operation at night but camera didn't have any juice left by then so I have no photographic evidence. :(

FrightFestsmall.jpg
The park actually had some theming for Fright Fest. Granted it is no where near most other parks but it was more than I was expecting.

HeadlessHorsemansmall.jpg
This lovely headless horseman was up near the front entrance greeting guests. As I said the theming was better than I was expecting (tells you a bit about my expectations).

Batmansmall.jpg
Horray for mirror image clones! When we got in line something went wrong with the lift motor so we had to come back later.

Alienssmall.jpg
This was more what I was expecting theming wise. Spooky! For some odd reason they had guys dressed up as trolls talking to each other around here. Not really scaring anyone, just standing around and talking.

MansionofTerrorsmall.jpg
I wasn't going to pay $6 to go on this especially seeing as it was this or food.

Graveyardsmall.jpg
At night it was hard to even see here because every fog machine SFStL owns was here.

Superboysmall.jpg
This is the queue for the "new" Intamin drop tower, Superman: Power of Erection or something like that. Does anyone else think its weird that superboy has steel teeth?

Supermansmall.jpg
It is a nice addition to the park and offers a very good view of the entire park.

Screamin'Eaglesmall.jpg
This is probably my favorite ride in the park next to Batman, especially at night.

Mr. Freezesmall.jpg
This was running but had way too long of a line when we first tried, so we'd have to come back later.

BugsBunnysmall.jpg
Also new for this year was the Bugs Bunny National Park kids area. They have some good rides for the kiddies and a playground.

BatmanLoopsmall.jpg
Some loop action for Derek.

Ninjasmall.jpg
Ninja didn't beat us up too badly this time.

TheBosssmall.jpg
The Boss did beat the snot out of us though. Its a shame this was riding so horrible otherwise it would be my favorite ride in the park.

Mr. Freeze at night. Had I not taken this picture I would have been able to take a picture of the double train operation.

Don't worry, the demolition of the Sherwood theatre is going on now and the coaster should be coming in any time soon.
Looks like SFSTL is getting one of those spinning coasters for next year.

^ They're announcing it today right now along with all other rides that are going to be added to the chain for next year.

As for the official announcement, that'll come soon enough.

I've heard from somewhere (I think Screamscape) that a few people already have pics of survey markers, but I didn't think to look. Just enjoying the day.

Oh and a great GP moment was when a guy behind me was talking with his girlfriend about how Superman was great, but it would be better if they could shoot you up somehow. They then decided that was impossible due to the force needed. I had to fight the urge to turn around and tell them all about S&S and how all of that stuff works. :)

Have I mentioned how awesome donkeys are?

I was out there a couple of weeks ago, and looked around for markers but didnt see anything...

as far as the themeing for Fright Fest, it does seem like SFSTL was a little skimpy this year as compared to a few years ago.
