QueerRudie Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) Greetings, As of late there have been an explosion of "XXXXX's Work Threads" in the forums. Let me remind everybody of this: A work thread is not a way to get around the 'one pic' rule for posting. Nor are they places to simply put up your latest project without explanations. Effective immediately, all work threads are subject to the exact same rules as any other thread for a park you're building. You must have enough stuff to show off in the thread before opening it (A minimum of six photos or more, please) plus some form of description with each. Opening up a thread and posting 'stuff I'm working on' isn't going to fly anymore. If you think you're going to start a park, and don't have enough shots to open up a thread, use "The Preview Thread" for two pics, and then when you have enough to start a thread, open one. Those are in the rules as posted- the ones you should have read when you joined the forums- and are unbending. You can read the rules of the forum HERE. If your workthread does not meet up with the guidelines posted for threads, you may lose it- or face a seven day suspension from TPR. Your threads need to meet the quality of every other thread on the boards- no exceptions. Games Forum Moderating Team Edited May 7, 2012 by A.J.
Ace Of Spades Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I'm entirely on board with this, except for one tiny point: Souldn't the preview thread be for, well, previews of actual upcoming projects? As opposed to a number of posts about random projects that aren't going to get their own thread? Perhaps there could be another thread for one-off "throwaway" ideas, concepts to test the waters, or projects that aren't grand enough to make it on their own? Just a thought.
molemaster43 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Noted. These seem to be a pretty easy set of rules to follow for my work thread. Thanks for the heads up RD.
-Edge of Beast- Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I use a thread like this, but with different 'standards'. I make a thread for the littler coasters I'm working on, not the huge "take a whole month to complete" coasters. I also release my rides in it. But yeah, the Preview thread is needed instead of those work threads.
Angry_Gumball Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I don't post much projects on here as I tend to take massive breaks and whatnot (truth, I actually get lazy and put it on hold for long periods of time and tend to resurface the project out of nowhere when I finally get a little motivation), but I do tend to look at a lot of projects as inspiration and motivation. To me, a nice description and decent amount of photos are enough to keep me satisfied as opposed to a 2-line sentence and 2 photos of a park entrance and a couple trees...I kind of feel 'cheated' when I see those, or feel like I just ate an ultimate cheeseburger with just only the buns and nothing else. With this said, I like to have something going so I can show off a variety of things when it comes time to start the park. This also helps with the certainty of this project because I've had countless projects where I build an entry plaza and stop...once I've added a significant amount to the park, I feel more motivated to continue working on it since I already put some effort into it, ultimately leading to where I can start taking my first sets of screenshots and prep them for TPR. I now really need to get back on my CGA recreation I've been attempting since 2007
mcjaco Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Added this to the Rules Sticky. Honestly, it's like any other thread. The more content you provide, the better the reception to your thread you'll get. If you bombard the forum with threads of one and two pics, and nothing else.....1) you'll gain no following, and 2) you'll be on the fast track to being fed to the bantron.
QueerRudie Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 Bumping this so people will R-E-A-D it. R.D.
