michaellynn4
I was thrown by the old photos for a bit until I went back and re-read the beginning haha. I got to the construction photo of Kingda Ka and then the old Rotor and was like waaaaait a minute. Nice walk down memory lane for me!
thrillrider
On our swing back towards home, we swung by Hersheys chocolate world to stock up on some snacks and check out the tour. It's been years since we have been here, so I really don't remember much from our first visit. What a cool tour that is more of a dark ride type of thing. This does not go thru the actual factory, but a loose recreation of how chocolate is produced in the factory. The best part is at the end when they give you a sample size bar of Hershey chocolate. Let's take a look shall we.... We are here... Lots of people And it wouldn't be Hershey chocolate world without all kinds of chocolate Hershey candies and souvenirs. They also sell these HUGE chocolate bars! This was our reason for the visit. While in line, they have lots of information on how chocolate is produced. Here are just a few... Once you navigate the Q line and get your picture taken, you arrive at the loading platform. You're ride vehicle has a screen. On the tour, you go thru various scenes of the chocolate making process. Here are a few of the scenes. That's it from the factory tour. Stay tuned for our next stop....Sfga.
Canobie Coaster
I actually don't think I've ridden the Chocolate World dark ride in my past few visits. Thanks for reminding me to do so. Good update!
thrillrider
Totally worth it! Plus, who doesn't like free chocolate?
Canobie Coaster
^ I actually don't like sweets, so me. But the people I'd visit with wouldn't mind an extra sample.

thrillrider
So after cutting our trip a few days short, we swung back home to recover for a few days before we continued onto another park. We made the 5 hour drive from home to six flags great America. I really do enjoy this park, and not sure why some people give it low Mark's. We spent nearly 2 days here, and did not witness any of the problems that some people bring up. The park was very clean, the staff was friendly and semi fast, and all the rides were open except for a kiddy ride and Mardi Gras hangover for one of the days. If I had to complain about 1 thing about this park, it would be the dining plan choices. It seemed that it was mainly the typical park fair(burgers, chicken strips, pizza) beyond that, there were not too many choices. The exceptions would be JB'S smokehouse nachos, and capones spaghetti. While there, one of the highlights was walking by the drop tower just as they started handing out vr tickets. We ended up waiting about 5 min to ride, and were really impressed. During our 2 days there, we never did see American eagle race. I asked a ride host, and the said that they are not allowed to race them anymore. Anybody know about this? Another big highlight of this trip, was my son got his first upside down coaster ride. He ended up loving it, and because of that we had to ride the demon multiple times. Onto the pictures.... We will be here for the next 2 days. It will be interesting to see what replaces this. I'm hoping for a wonder woman clone like at sfft. Got lucky, and scored some tickets to this. The crew was actually pretty fast loading and unloading. It was roughly 5 min between ride cycling. This is the parks new attraction. It seemed to be having some hiccups. This ride is perfect for a hot day like it was. I wonder how many kids today even know who the jetsons are? Fun kiddy coaster though. The fiddlers fling, was one crazy ride. Dare I say it was the most intense flat ride in the park? American eagle is a HUGE racing wooden coaster. The structure of this coaster is mammoth. Its nearly impossible to get a shot of the entire coaster from ground level. Station shot Red train leaving the station The Huge turnaround First feeding of the day was a burger at the mooseburger lodge. Nicely theamed restaurant, but kept smelling something that was like vomit. I totally rocked this ride. I ended up in the top 1% A shot of the loading area Clean midway! I witnessed a bunch of workers walking around cleaning and sweeping. Even noticed this big banner Still an amazing coaster. Station shot Lots more coming from six flags great America...stay tuned! grsupercity
Me and my wife went on a pretty large coaster trip 2 years ago. One of those parking being SFGAM. It was our second favorite park of the trip behind only Kentucky Kingdom. I was blown away by great america. Im glad you enjoyed your trip and I am enjoying the photo report! thrillrider
Some more pictures from six flags great America. The dark knight indoor coaster. The indoor waiting area used to be seating for a show. My son is also able to ride this coaster now as well. This is just one of the reasons we choose six flags over cedar fair parks. The kids can ride a lot more. Control panel. The lobster. Fun ride! I'm glad they decided to keep this ride. Batman doing its thing. X flight is a great wing coaster I love the keyhole thru the tower Ricochet is a great ride. Another ride I am glad they kept. Uh oh...a closed ride!!! Six flags must be the worst park chain ever. Big Lou wants you to put his beef in your mouth. This drink must have been inspired by trump. A few interesting things I found in the gift shops. Cyborg shirt? Is this a hint as to what the park will be getting in the future? Stay tuned for the last update.

thrillrider
Sorry about the delay to get the rest of the pictures up. Life can be crazy at times. Anyway, here is the final set of pictures from six flags great America. Raging bull is the parks largest steel coaster. Lift hill. A park staple Fun interactive water ride that closes at 4pm on a 95 degree day. The parks magic show was actually really good. The same magician puts on two different shows in the park. This is the small version of the show And here are a few shots from the larger show. Is this part of what makes B&M coasters so smooth? Random theaming The condor is a favorite ride of ours. My daughter tried to tackle the parks snow cone, but failed. Believe it or not, this was one of our daily snacks from the dinning plan. Construction markers in the demons line? The park is ramping up promoting it's very first Christmas in the park event. It's not a bird....its not a plane....its superman! I failed to get a decent shot of the man of steel. Logo! That's all from six flags! Hope you enjoyed the report. He loved it so much, we ended up having to ride it 6 times Classic arrow Not as popular as some coasters, but still pulls in a decent crowd. The demon was my sons first upside down coaster. We ended up riding it about 6 times in a row because he love d it so much.

thrillrider
Thank you. Raging bull is a great coaster, but trimmed a bit too much. Not sure why they trim it the way they do.

thrillrider
Love your reports. My little guy is almost 3, but very tall. He's completely fearless so I'm eagerly awaiting the day I can take him to parks Thank you. This is one of the reasons that we have been passing on cedar fair parks lately. Six flags parks has a lot more rides that the family can ride together. My boys(3 and 4yo) had a blast at six flags. They were both able to enjoy larger coasters like whizzer, dark knight, and demon. Plus, they are able to ride a bunch of the spinning puke inducers and water rides. The whizzer was a perfect "larger" coaster to wet there appetite for coasters. The kiddy coasters at most other parks were rather tame to them.
