And it because of remarks like that I hate that we legalized it. (Or at least started first, remember Washington also did the same year.) To be honest I see more tourist then locals doing it but that is a topic for another day. (Air has little to nothing to do with it around here unless you are on alcohol, and people are surprised how fast they get drunk. lol)

I lived in Colorado for a bit. You wouldn’t believe how many people think Mind Eraser is the greatest coaster in the world.

Well, it's probably the thinner air, starving their brains for oxygen. That combined with the low hanging cloud of reefer fumes. But no,seriously, if you think about it Mind Eraser is the greatest coaster ever built if that's all you know. There is a certain crowd out there that hates woodies. I know so many. I knew a guy who said he would never go to Holiday World because 3 of their four coasters are wooden. I told he was missing out but whatever. So if you only like steelies and your choices are between Mind Eraser, Sidewinder, Boomerang and Half Pipe, most people would choose Mind Eraser. They'd be wrong but again, thin air combined with weed.

No need to correct people. If all they know about Colorado is weed then they aren't missing much

Glenwood Springs is a great place to visit! And the rides are fun and offer great mountainside views with minimal effort.

I've heard countless times by the GP that they find Elitch Gardens a far better amusement park than Lagoon, so they are doing something right that regular enthusiasts don't see.

I wrote a letter to the Company that owns Elitch's spelling out the benefits of a real signature coaster a few years ago. No reply yet. The comment about folks thinking Mind Eraser is the best ever cracks me up. I have many friends back home that truly believe this. Makes me wanna force 'em to do a few laps on Alpie or Montu to see what they've been missing all this time...well, for inverted coasters anyway.

Just speaking as an outsider, I think the park has a couple of of cool, niche coasters (like the Arrow Shuttle Loop) that don't deserve to be taken out... but yes, they could stand to lose Mind Eraser. That spot of land would be perfect for a small EuroFighter, or a similar model. Heck, I'm sure you guys would be happy with another Untamed clone, OTSRs not preferred.

Funny story... every year I go up to my uncles place for a few weeks during the summer and hit up Wild Adventures with them, and every year they make it a priority to hit up Twisted Typhoon (the park's SLC) at least two or three times. Seriously, they all LOVE the thing. I don't mind, it's the only SLC I've been on and it's decently smooth.

HOWEVER.

Last year they flipped the script and headed over to my house, so we went to BGT to kill an afternoon. We rode every single coaster there- this includes Montu, Kumba, SheiKra, and Cheetah Hunt- and everyone still thought ol' TT was better (although SheiKra was a huge hit for the group). Lol GP.

People in Colorado think Mind Eraser is amazing. There is a similar effect in Idaho where many people think Aftershock is one of the best roller coasters in the world. Everything is relative. This part of the country is not the best for coasters.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have friends living in Frankfurt, Germany. They can get on both Expedition GeForce and Taron easily. They do not realize how lucky they are.

If people like that Mind Eraser, then the park can't afford to lose it, even if they got something better.

It does seem to me that inverts are especially subjective rides. I used to prefer The Great Nor-easter over Batman. Of course it has a better setting than most Mind Erasers and also it was a lot easier to get a ride on, this being back when a Moreys wristband was ~$27 and BTR was Great Adv's sole B&M. I loved my first ride on Batman but later got a poor seat and it sucked, and this took 2 trips to get these 2 rides. GNE was more exciting, at least, and ran well at the time. Since then, I've had many more rides on Batman, some meh, some HOT!. I know someone who rode Dueling Dragons and thought it sucked too.

New Meow Wolf ride coming to Elitch Gardens in 2019

A never-before-seen, immerse and interactive attraction will open at Elitch Gardens in Denver in 2019.

DENVER — Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park will partner with Meow Wolf on a "innovative, alluring and sensational new ride" in 2019

"Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape will be a never-before-seen attraction that takes guests on a densely immersive and fully interactive experience," according to a news release from Elitch Gardens. "Riders who journey on Meow Wolf’s Kaleidoscape will be transported to other-worldly motion, deep sound, wild color and interactive challenges that if well-played may just save the day. This intriguing attraction will be the first artist-driven dark ride the world has ever seen."

The new ride, Kaleidoscape, will open for the 2019 season. Meow Wolf's new Denver exhibit opens in Denver in 2020.

Over one million visitors have experienced Meow Wolf's "House of Eternal Return" in Santa Fe.

The organization is made up of more than 200 artists in architecture, sculpture, painting, photography, video, virtual and augmented reality, music engineering, narrative writing, performance and more, who work to create bold, immersive experiences.

“All of us at Elitch Gardens are thrilled to be partnering with Meow Wolf to create this unique, mysterious and artistic new ride. The park is a long-standing Denver staple known for offering one-of-a-kind family fun and this new ride will continue that tradition in its most original way ever,” said Layne Pitcher, Elitch Gardens’ Marketing Director, in a news release.

"Meow Wolf artists love amusement park rides," said Meow Wolf CEO Vince Kadlubek, in a news release. "They are works of art with architecture, pacing, sensation, color, theme and more. To create a dark ride has been a true dream of ours and we're deeply honored to work with Elitch Gardens to create the first ride in the world that is also a multimedia piece of contemporary art."

It looks like they are just retheming ghost blasters? I guess that's good, but lol that thing always breaks down.

I know that I should probably check my expectations, but I've been interested in the Meow Wolf installations ever since I heard about their place in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I'll definitely keep an eye on this.

It appears this will be replacing Ghostblasters. The teaser for the ride gives off a "Nights in White Satin" vibe. One can hope it is only half the ride.

Intriguing. I keep hearing about Meow Wolf, and this partnership is surprising to me, but sounds promising. I'm probably more like to visit an, um, actual Meow Wolf (?) than to visit Elitch Gardens again, though.

I've been following this site for some time now, but have never really posted much...I came across an article earlier today stating that Elitch Gardens will eventually be "Relocated" to make way for a new mega development. I hate to see parks close, would have been nice to see a company step up and give the park a makeover, it looks like it could have been a fun little park.

I wonder if the city of Denver would be willing to put some money into Lakeside based on this. I haven't been there in years, but if it's still basically the same as it was, it could really use some love.

I want to say I am upset at this but I have visited Denver several times and Elitch doesn't appeal to me. It is a bad ride catalog in prime real estate with a good view of downtown Denver and the Platte River. Casa Bonita and Elitch will end up as the only attractions that I will probably never visit in the area, yet I have made it to both Lakeside and Water World multiple times. I am not saying Lakeside is much better than Elitch but it has some flat rides I can't find in bigger parks.

If Elitch closes, they need to send the Arrow shuttle to Frontier City in Oklahoma City and reassemble Lightnin' Loops.

To you (and us), sure, but to everyone else? I feel like losing that big amusement park in the heart of the city is going to be rough.
