Photo Trip Report: Pima County Fair

Postby JimmyBo » Wed May 10, 2017 9:11 pm

The Pima County Fair comes to Tucson every year and every year we venture off to see what weird things they have. This year was different in that we did what our kiddos wanted to do. Jackson (age 5) and Griffin (age 2) have already been to Disneyland so when we told them we would be going to the fair they got extremely excited because it was "going to be like Disneyland". I told them not to get their hopes up but we ended up having a great time.

Jackson was able to ride a couple rides and Griffin loved watching everything....and eating a chocolate covered banana. One thing that's great about the fair here in Pima County is that people sell off their cattle and chickens to bidders. We were able to catch some of the auction and a rooster went for $1,200! I'm in the wrong business!

If you're looking for a ton of pictures of Fair rides...this is not your report. This is a report about what the younger generation does at the Fair because they are still too small to ride the major attractions.

Enjoy the pictures and comment below!

Here we are...in the lovely dirt filled parking lot, ready to enter the Fair.
002.jpg
First stop...Kiddie Kingdom. This was an area inside where kids could play around on some random stuff.
003.jpg
Griffin was King for about a second.
004.jpg
Jackson got lost in the maze...but was able to find his way out.
005.jpg
Now it's time to play Candyland!
006.jpg
It wouldn't be complete unless you ride a snail!
007.jpg
Next stop, Pima Hall where there is always an exhibit with a bunch of animals.
008.jpg
This year it was themed around the Bayou.
009.jpg
What a HOOT!
010.jpg
This lady was taking a baby crocodile out of it's exhibit for a presentation.
011.jpg
Giant Spider!
012.jpg
Jackson loves snakes and watching them eat mice. Here in Arizona, we have a lot of snakes!
013.jpg
Griffin found something!
014.jpg
They had an "Operation" type table where you had to get things out without making the light go off. Jackson failed...
015.jpg
Now it was time to venture into Kid Land!
016.jpg
This is where the smaller rides were for the shorter kids. It was separate from the main, annoying teenager filled, larger rides.
016a.jpg
Jackson saw this and wanted to do it. He thought it was the Little Mermaid ride from California Adventure.
017.jpg
He was not too thrilled about his experience.
018.jpg
Next, it's time to see some farm animals.
019.jpg
BEEF! It's what's for dinner!
020.jpg
TURKEY! It's what's for Thanksgiving!
021.jpg
BILLY GOAT! It's what for....who the hell eats a Billy Goat?!?!
022.jpg
Dairy Cows full of milk!
023.jpg
Jackson found HeiHei from Moana. He called every chicken and rooster in there HeiHei.
024.jpg
Time to walk to more games and rides. They had a zipline going over the Midway this year.
025.jpg
And the ever popular Bungee Jump.
026.jpg
for only $45!!!
027.jpg
Time to get some treats!
028.jpg
Cassie enjoying her chocolate covered banana
029.jpg
Jackson and his allergy friendly Dippin Dots
030.jpg
Griffin chowing down on his chocolate covered banana.
031.jpg
I think the kiddos liked their treats.
032.jpg
Time for Bumper Cars.
033.jpg
Jackson's favorite ride!
033a.jpg
We are ready to bash into people!
034.jpg
Jackson liked it so much he wanted to stay and watch other people bump their cars.
035.jpg
Time for games. Jackson at ring toss.....
036.jpg
....and he won a dog!
037.jpg
We also won a fish and named it Maui (again...from Moana!).
038.jpg
Log Flume
039.jpg
Roller Coaster Part 1
040.jpg
Roller Coaster Part 2
041.jpg
Giant Wheel
042.jpg
Crazy Mouse
043.jpg
Giant Swing riding thingy
044.jpg
Oh...and did I mention they have Sea Lions here?
045.jpg
The star attraction every year for our boys is the giant Model Train Set.
046.jpg
There's a lot of detail into this set.
047.jpg
The kids watched this for about 30 minutes.
048.jpg
And then it was time to play golf.
051.jpg
Griffin did some gardening....
052.jpg
...and picked fruit...
053.jpg
...and then he milked a cow!
054.jpg
Thanks for reading! Until next time Pima County Fair.

Reminds of the old days at the Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock, California, when I was a kid. Thought I was gonna die on the Toboggan.

Thanks for the report! Looks fun and all...but man...I wish we just had one single decent roller coaster within 400 miles. Metrocenter is half closed/abandoned by Castles n' Coasters, hell you could easily plop in a parking lot mega lite. I wouldn't complain.
