Postby JordyC » Fri Sep 18, 2015 6:42 am

Hello, everyone!

From 13 to 15 September 2015, I went on a mini-mini Mega Trip in the North of Germany, to visit Hansa Park & Heide Park Resort.

First park of the trip was Hansa Park, an amusement park located next to the Baltic Sea. The last couple of years, they really invested in adding some real thrills, like Fluch von Novgorod and of course Schwur des Kärnan, the latest addition in the park. And they definitely had a huge hit with that ride! It is simply amazing.

Enough talking, let’s check it out!

DSC_0001.JPG
Willkommen im Hansa Park (that's German for Welcome in Hansa park).

DSC_0004.JPG
From the very moment you enter the park, you can feel the great atmosphere.

DSC_0007.JPG
Rasender Roland, the Vekoma Junior Coaster of the park. I love how it interacts with the loop of Nessie.

DSC_0032.JPG
What do I see there in the back? A big tower and some dark green track. Hmm.. That needs some further investigation later this day.

DSC_0023.JPG
Say hi to Nessie, the oldest coaster in the park. But that doesn't say anything. Because this is a Schwarzkopf looper!

DSC_0042.JPG
This ride was actually pretty fun. Not that rough, and you get lots of airtime in the back!

DSC_0030.JPG
A random lighthouse. And ow yeah, a coaster train too.

DSC_0035.JPG
Nessie climbing its lift.

DSC_0049.JPG
Leaving the helix, into the uhm.. Giant fishie thingy?

DSC_0052.JPG
This giant fish was very hungry! It ate one full Schwarzkopf train about every 5 minutes. Insane!!

DSC_0029.JPG
Troika! That guy is pretty creepy, though... Don't look at him too long. He will give you nightmares!

DSC_0055.JPG
They even have a Looping Starship! I love these rides.

DSC_0101.JPG
Next coaster was the Crazy Mine. A Maurer Wilde Maus.

DSC_0162.JPG
Good theming, like almost every ride in the park.

DSC_0115.JPG
Crazy Mine once again. But I think you are all watching at something else ;)

DSC_0062.JPG
The real reason we got here. But we will come back to you later, my dear. Don't leave.

DSC_0176.JPG
They also have this great family coaster, Die Schlange von Midgard.

DSC_0215.JPG
It is really fun! I liked it a lot.

DSC_0235.JPG
The famous swinging bell ride of the park.

DSC_0251.JPG
Fluch von Novgorod. An awesome Gerstlauer coaster! And amazingly themed.

DSC_0239.JPG
The train departs from the station, and travels through a small indoor dark ride section. The train then drops down a small dip which leads right onto the LSM launch. It launches the train from 0-100 kmh (0-60 mph) in 1.4 seconds, immediately into a hard banked turn to the right, and out of the building into a great airtime hill!

DSC_0249.JPG
The pretzel-turn of the ride.

DSC_0252.JPG
Going upside down!

DSC_0255.JPG
Novgorod was awesome.

DSC_0236.JPG
A giant Raft Water Slide. I think this one is way better than the one at Thorpe Park.

DSC_0066.JPG
KÄRNAN!!!! Gerstlauer and Werner Stengel did a pretty awesome job with this one.

DSC_0088.JPG
Great airtime on this ride.

DSC_0098.JPG
Who doesn't like high speed curves?

DSC_0159.JPG
Through the trees.

DSC_0107.JPG
Beware for the Oath of Kärnan.

DSC_0129.JPG
Kärnan dominates the park!

DSC_0110.JPG
Really, the airtime here is amazing!

DSC_0167.JPG
Did I mention that Kärnan, with a height of 73 meters (240 ft), is the second tallest coaster in Europe?

DSC_0114.JPG
And with a top speed of 127 kph (79 mph), it is also the second fastest non-launched coaster in Europe!

DSC_0133.JPG
The trains look great too!

DSC_0156.JPG
My try of an artsy shot..

DSC_0234.JPG
The first drop is insane, especially in the front!

DSC_0138.JPG
Almost touching the sun!! Only possible with Kärnan.

DSC_0175.JPG
It is massive!

DSC_0185.JPG
Kärnar is also the first roller coaster ever to have a "reverse freefall" drop on the lift hill!

DSC_0188.JPG
What a beauty!

DSC_0122.JPG
All happy faces for this ride.

DSC_0195.JPG
Hansa Park really had a big hit with Kärnan!

DSC_0222.JPG
One word. Absolutely amazing!

DSC_0230.JPG
The tower is gigantic.

DSC_0206.JPG
Hands up if you love Kärnan!

DSC_0243.JPG
One last photo to end our day in Hansa Park.

I hope you liked it already.
I will soon upload the photos with my report from Heide Park!

Nice report!
Have to visit this place, Kärnan looks like a great addition and it's definitely not the only interesting ride in the park.
The Mr Freeze coasters should have speakers playing the sentence: "Let's kick some ice!" right before each launch

What does one say after riding a Batman clone?
The G force is strong with this one.

Postby JordyC » Mon Sep 21, 2015 6:57 am

Hello everyone!

As promised, here are the photos and my report from Heide Park Resort.

Heide Park is located in Soltau, and it is the second biggest amusement park in Germany. Heide Park has 9 coasters; 2 B&M's, 2 Intamin's, 2 Mack's, 2 Vekoma's and a Zierer. Great line-up for a European Park, if you ask me. And of course, it is home to one of the best wooden coasters in the world, Colossos!! Their newest addition was built in 2014, a B&M Wing Coaster, called Flug der Dämonen. It is a good ride, but definitely not the best coaster in the park.

The weather that day wasn't that great. It was drizzling all day. And at noon, the drizzling turned into pouring rain. It was so bad that all the coasters were closed for about 2 hours. At 3pm, the rain finally stopped and every ride reopened. Because of the rain, the park was almost completely empty. The longest queue time that day was 10 minutes.

Enough talking, let's check it out!

DSC_0256.JPG
Welcome to the Heide Park Resort!

DSC_0258.JPG
My first thoughts of this park: what a beautiful place!

DSC_0260.JPG
Bad weather, lovely park!

DSC_0261.JPG
Bucht der Piraten, the first themed area.

DSC_0262.JPG
Bounty, the Pirate Ship of the park.

DSC_0263.JPG
As I said, empty!

DSC_0265.JPG
The Pirate themed area is definitely the best themed area of the park.

DSC_0266.JPG
There will be no show today..

DSC_0267.JPG
First coaster of the day, Krake!!

DSC_0268.JPG
Krake opened in 2011. With its height of 'only' 41m (135ft), it may not be the tallest Dive Coaster out there. But it is my second favourite coaster in this park.

DSC_0270.JPG
Krake through the trees.

DSC_0272.JPG
The first drop is awesome! Especially in the back.

DSC_0286.JPG
Hurray, they survived!

DSC_0292.JPG
Facing down.. Towards the Krake..

DSC_0293.JPG
Love the theming.

DSC_0300.JPG
Short, but sweet!

dsc01097jpg.jpg
Sklooosh!!

DSC_0302.JPG
I spot 2 Vekoma's, a Mack and a B&M. All in one photo!

DSC_0304.JPG
Big Loop is the oldest coaster at the park. It opened in 1983, but it is still a lot of 'fun'.

DSC_0338.JPG
If you want to make a Vekoma look good, Heide Park is the place to be!

DSC_0339.JPG
Big Loop was okay. It is rideable..

DSC_0336.JPG
The next coaster of the park; Limit!

135503_blow.jpg
It's an SLC. No more words are needed..

DSC_0337.JPG
I spot the Vekoma brace position!

DSC_0332.JPG
Bobbahn.

DSC_0301.JPG
Transilvania. Home to the newest coaster of the park.

DSC_0306.JPG
Flug der Dämonen, Flight of the Demons in English.

DSC_0303.JPG
What a beauty!

DSC_0307.JPG
No, Colossos, it's not your turn yet.

DSC_0313.JPG
Best part of the ride; first drop and this airtime hill!

DSC_0320.JPG
The trains are gorgeous.

DSC_0326.JPG
The best seat? Back right, in my opinion.

DSC_0330.JPG
B-E-A-utiful.

DSC_0329.JPG
Scream was closed..

DSC_0341.JPG
Huss Land!!

DSC_0352.JPG
Grottenblitz, a Mack Powered coaster. It has a great little indoor section!

DSC_0358.JPG
Land der Vergessenen, home to Desert Race and.. Colossos!!

DSC_0353.JPG
Desert Race accelerates from 0-100 kph (0-60 mph) in only 2.4 seconds.

DSC_0346.JPG
Great hairtime on this ride!

DSC_0357.JPG
Love the ride's control panel! Yes, it is in the helicopter.

Heide-Park-2015-23.jpg
It roughly has the same layout as Rita in AT.

DSC_0355.JPG
The rain felt like hail. But I don't mind, as long as I can ride coasters!

DSC_0354.JPG
Desert Race is great! But when you have a world class Intamin woodie next door, it's hard to beat that!

DSC_0340.JPG
Here it is! Colossos!!

DSC_0349.JPG
What a fantastic coaster! By far the best wooden coaster I have ridden.

DSC_0342.JPG
Hands up for the photo!!

DSC_0348.JPG
Colossos climbing its massive 60 m (200 ft) tall lift hill.

DSC_0343.JPG
The last turn towards the station.

DSC_0345.JPG
See the guy in the green? That could be me. But I was taking the photo. Seriously, Colossos made me crazy!

DSC_0356.JPG
This ride is awesome!

DSC_0350.JPG
Full of airtime, high speeds, steep drops, lots of G's. Thank you Intamin!!

I hope you guys enjoyed it!

Great trip report of two really good parks. I like Kärnan a lot to, that first drop in the tower is amazing. In the backseat it feels a bit like Expedition GeForce's first drop, but in the dark! The rest of the ride is really good too, but not great, in my opinion. I thought it had a pretty significant rattle in the outer seats for such a new ride. What did you think? Oh... And I :lover: Nessie!

I totally agree about Colossos being by far the best coaster at Heide-Park. It's such a fun ride. I might be alone here, but I actually preferred Heide-Park before they started 'theming' the different areas. In my opinion it comes off as quite cheaply done (especially in the back of the park) and not very harmonic. Yes, it was 'generic' before, but beautifully landscaped. Anyway, who cares, they have a great coaster collection, and Flug der Dämomen is a real winner as well!

I saw, went and conquered Steel Dragon 2000. It's still crap!

Can I ask you how long the waiting time was for Karnan when you were there?

I didn't really notice the rattle.. There are smoother rides, absolutely! But I thought Kärnan was actually pretty smooth for a Gerstlauer. I am wondering if that would still be the same in a couple of years...

All the rides in the park had a waiting time of about 10 minutes. Except for Kärnan, the whole day around 50-60 minutes. But it's worth the wait!

This is an excellent report. I missed out on Hansa Park on my Euro-Trip last month and now I wish I'd had the time to go there.

I really enjoyed these two parks on two TPR trips. Need to get back to them, as they've made a lot of changes since. I'm particularly intrigued by Karnan. Do they still have the "haunted queue" for the Wing coaster at Heide?
