BDG
Announced today at the Euro Amusement Show in Amsterdam: The Dutch and Polish recreation park Holiday Park Kownaty, an initiative by Momentum Capital, has signed a contract with Plopsa, a subsidiary of the Belgian entertainment company Studio 100, to use the amusement park license for the animated character Maya the Bee. Maya the Bee will be the central figure in an indoor and outdoor theme park in Poland called Mayaland. This is the first step in the development of the Polish recreation park Holiday Park Kownaty. At the same time, discussions are going on with operators of golf courses, vacation homes, and hotels regarding further participation in the recreation park Holiday Park Kownaty, which measures a total of 207 hectares. Daniel Heinst, CEO of Holiday Park Kownaty, says, "I am convinced that with Maya the Bee, we have been able to bring a global brand on board which will ensure a fantastic start to Holiday Park Kownaty. Maya the Bee is a timeless character that is loved by all ages. Studio 100 presents the adventures of this cheerful bee to children and their parents through the television show and the brand new movie shown in theaters. Mayaland will bring the world of Maya the Bee even closer." Steve Van den Kerkhof, CEO of the Plopsa group, says, "The new theme park will give children and their parents the opportunity to discover the world of Maya for themselves and to experience unforgettable adventures with her, like they can in the Maya zones in the Plopsa theme parks." The Mayaland project is the only one of its kind in the entire region between Berlin, Germany, and Poznań, Poland. It will also be Poland's first genuine theme park. JordyC
Plopsa is building Poland's first wooden roller coaster The new Plopsa theme park in Poland is not yet open, but work is already underway on a major expansion. There are plans for the construction of a wooden roller coaster in Mayaland Kownaty, the first in Poland. That is confirmed by Plopsa director Steve Van den Kerkhof. On May 26, 2018 Plopsa opens a new park in Poland: Majaland Kownaty. The park is similar to the two other indoor parks of the Plopsa group, but with a different theme (Heidi and Wickie) and a few other attractions. Besides the indoor hall, there is also a large outdoor area with attractions such as 'De Konijntjes' that we know from Plopsaland De Panne. And that outdoor zone would soon become even bigger. In fact, the work would start within two to three months for a wooden roller coaster by GCI! It would be a copy or similar version of Heidi The Ride in Plopsaland, which opened last year. The opening year, theme and others are not known yet. Source

JordyC
Opening of new Plopsa theme park postponed for months The opening of the new Plopsa theme park Majaland Kownaty in Poland has been postponed for months. Actually, the theme park would open on May 26th. That will now be September 29, says Plopsa director Steeve Van den Kerkhof. The delay has to do with several factors, explains the director. "We are dependent on Polish legislation with regard to inspections, which are very different from those in the Netherlands or Belgium, for example, an inspection can only take place when a building or attraction is completely finished: they do not have periodic inspections, so it takes a lot of time." The operational side also plays a role. Actually the brand new park would be operated by the Dutch investor Momentum Capital. "After consultation, we decided that Plopsa will fully exploit the park itself, but for that we want to collect the right people first and that takes time." The opening on Saturday, September 29th, according to Van den Kerkhof is 100 percent certain. "I think the park is already one of the most beautiful Plopsa parks in the world, but we now have extra time to finish everything even better: you can only open a park once and it has to be perfect right away." Poland is an interesting market for Plopsa owner Studio 100, says the director. "For example, the last cinema film about Maya the Bee attracted 400,000 visitors, an unbelievable success, which promises much good." Majaland Kownaty - part of Holiday Park Kownaty - revolves around Studio 100 characters Maya the Bee, Wickie the Viking, Heidi and Bumba. There are indoor and outdoor attractions for children. In the long term, a wooden roller coaster must also be built. Source Edited September 30, 2018 by larrygator
JordyC
First Plopsa theme park in Poland now officially open Maya the Bee and Wickie the Viking are now also conquering Eastern Europe. After two years of construction, the first Plopsa theme park in Poland was officially opened on Saturday evening. Majaland Kownaty includes 24 different attractions spread over an indoor and outdoor area. It is an investment of 20 million euros. The park - one and a half hours from Berlin - is an initiative of the Dutch investor Momentum Capital. At first, it was only the intention to use the figures of Plopsa. When it appeared that the Dutch company lacked knowledge and expertise to run a theme park, the Belgian Plopsa Group was asked for help. Plopsa eventually took on the construction, the decorations and the entire management. "What you are seeing now is the result of phase one," says Plopsa director Steeve Van den Kerkhof. In the first year, one counts on 300,000 visitors. An admission ticket costs 16.50 euros. The main attractions include a family coaster and a free fall tower. There is also a theater for children's performances. Theme park fans will recognize many attractions from the Plopsa parks in Belgium (Plopsaland De Panne & Plopsa Indoor Hasselt) and the Netherlands (Plopsa Indoor Coevorden). There were also some new creations, such as a butterfly carousel. "Poland actually has no theme park culture at all," says Van den Kerkhof. "Majaland is the first real theme park in Poland, but it is a growing market with a lot of potential and we are very confident about it." There is already thought of a second Plopsa park in the country. Source Edited September 30, 2018 by larrygator
JordyC
New Plopsa theme park in Poland announces expansion Only one day after the official opening of the first Polish Plopsa theme park, ambitious expansion plans are being presented. Majaland Kownaty will open several new attractions in the coming years, worth tens of millions of euros. "We have so much confidence in the project that we had already decided to expand the park before the opening", says Plopsa director Steeve Van den Kerkhof. The Plopsa Group works together with the Dutch investor Momentum Capital for the project. The first phase of the park cost 20 million euros. Recently, construction of a wooden roller coaster of 7.5 million euros has already begun. Immediately after that, a third phase of another 20 million euros follows. It is intended that among other things a large water attraction is added. The wooden roller coaster from the American manufacturer Great Coasters International is comparable to Heidi The Ride in Plopsaland De Panne, the flagship park of the Belgian Plopsa Group. The station building in Poland looks like a dilapidated wooden house. No Studio 100 character is associated with it. "We are now signing contracts for the other new attractions", says Van den Kerkhof. Meanwhile, a second Plopsa park in Poland is also being considered. That should be in the Polish capital Warsaw. The exact location is not yet known. Source Edited September 30, 2018 by larrygator

jedimaster1227
Great to see the park seeing substantial investment so early in its lifespan. Heidi The Ride seemed like a solid addition for Plopsaland and a good model to build off of for this new park. I'd be curious to see if the ambition for this park follows the Toverland model with a large scale build-out of the surrounding land after starting with a modest indoor/outdoor experience at launch... And if so, how quickly will we see the park grow year over year?
