Photo TR: Opening day Alpina Blitz Nigloland

Postby Hhappy » Sat Apr 12, 2014 2:32 pm

So today I had the pleasure to visit Nigloland and check out their new coaster Alpina Blitz.

The ride itself is built by Mack, 713meters long and 33 meters high.
Speeds of up to 100km/h are reached and 9 airtime moments are included.

Had a blast riding this and i only spotted happy faces of people after riding.
I like how it's a step up compared to the other coasters at the park. Looking forward to what else the future has in store for this park.

For the folks that have been on a megalite.. This looks and feels very similar :)

Amazing pictures, thanks a lot Hanno! The ride is so pretty with such a blue sky behind. :)

The area still look rather unfinished, but don't worry, grass and ornaments will pop up soon. And next year, the park called Neverland for some proper theming!

Portugal needs more old-school B&M's!!!

Great pictures. They really show how much air (and hai) time there is on this ride! I couldn't stop laughing because of the flying sunglasses. I also noticed that the running wheels weren't even touching the track during those moments of strong air, wow that must be intense!
I think the Mr Freeze rides should have speakers playing the sentence: "Let's kick some ice!" right before each launch ;)

What does one say after riding a Batman clone?
The G force is strong with this one.

I've gone pantless!

After watching the video, I agree completely. Love the look of those airtime hills.

It looks ridiculously like an Intamin Megalite...can you copyright a layout? To what extent? Very interesting...

My thought exactly, this ride looks so good because it's a complete copy of one of the greatest rides ever created.

It seems to run faster in the POV's that was posted earlier, and it will probably speed up more in the summer days, but even then the ride dosen't look to be on pair with the Intamin version. The first two hills look like they could be faster, and there is no "snap" in the transitions, something that makes the Intamin so awesome IMO.

Also the banking on the turn into the brakes just looks wrong. I would love to try this one out, as the real megalite is my all-time favorite coaster, but unfortunately a 2 day trip is much more expensive than I had hoped.

Piraten is *the* roller coaster (after finally riding Expedition Geforce, I'll admit, it was pretty freaking awesome to!) .

Mack isn't responsable for the layout, a manufacturer do whatever the customer wants. See the family B&M...

P. Gélis, the owner of Nigloland, adapted the layout of Piraten to his park (see the model) because he really loved that ride. He went to see both Intamin and Mack. The maintenance pieces on the Mack are cheaper and easier to ship, the seats are better (allows bigger persons), and they have a good relationship with this family... They choose Mack over Intamin for these reasons. So Mack did that layout, but it could have been Intamin.

--

I agree the first part of the ride could have been more powerful indeed. But the second one is really great. Don't forget that the seats are higher than Intamin's, and so the S-turn are snappier than they look. ;)
About the speed, the ride gains 8 seconds between the start and the end of the day! Can't wait for the hot summer days!

Another cool thing here is that plateform. While not being particularly beautiful, it allows wheelchairs to go on both sides of the station, and even more interesting, it allows the ride to run with only one operator on slow days, as he can now check the restraint on both side, or see what's wrong here or there.
It's a special request from the park, and I think it's a very good idea.

Still dosen't change anything, it is a complete copy of the real megalite, and that is the reason it looks to be such a great ride.

The wheel chair bridge is an awesome looking detail of this ride.
