My uneducated guess on re-making a broken-down shuttle-loop would be to remove the whole original trains and launch assembly may it be drop or flywheel and only keep the original track. Then put a new train onto it and equip it with a LSM/LIM launch system. I think Gerstelauer could do this but as said with a price.
