Raging Waters San Jose Announces “BOMBS AWAY”

Your experience begins as you step into the enclosed capsule, five stories above Lake Cunningham. The capsule door is sealed and the trap floor drops—plummeting you straight down toward the ground, for several seconds of free-falling thrills through an enclosed inverted 360 degree looping flume for over 200 feet into a ground level splash landing next to the base of Barracuda Blaster. Translucent sections of the track allow guests to watch as their friends and family literally drop from out of the sky and careen through the water slide’s enclosed capsule. “Bombs Away” will be an awe-inspiring experience for riders and onlookers alike!

 

There is literally nothing like it! This incredible ride uses powerful G-forces to glue riders to the wall of a 360 degree looping body slide manufactured by ProSlide Technology Inc.

Height requirement is 48” and built on the structure beside Barracuda Blaster

and visible from Capitol Expressway.

Wow, that's awesome! I thought this park was completely forgotten (kind of like another amusement park in the area, CGA). Now, I need to make a trip to RW!

^Really? *slightly let down now, thought it would have been a steeper incline* Ok, maybe not as much of a letdown, looks like a larger version of CGA's spiral slide (which is fun by the way, small and forceful) that came from Manteca Waterslides with the drop capsule.

Yeah, advertising a 360 degree loop then seeing a picture of a simple flat twist was kind of a let down to me as well, considering the looping coasters have such a strong following right now.

Its great to see the park getting some love, though! I have not been there since they opened 'The Shark' a bajillion years ago.

Only Action Park was able to pull the looping waterslide off. While it was most likely painful for anyone that dared make it through the circuit, it was and as of now will always be the only true looping waterslide.

That being said, the SuperLoops look like incredibly intense waterslides. I can't wait to try Vanish Point at Water Country USA this summer.

Raging Waters isn't like CGA at all they don't add anything new but they do keep what they have

It looks like I finally have a reason to go check this place out next time I go to Northern California. I considered it when I was up there a few years ago but opted for Waterworld USA in Concord instead (big mistake...Waterworld was horrible). If Raging Waters San Dimas doesn't get one of these in the next couple years, I'll go give this one a try as I have an interest in these rides. I wish it was one of the incline loop versions, but I'm sure it will still be good. It will still pull some serious g-force, and judging from the park's website will be their most thrilling attraction.

This park desperately needed something new as the Dragon's Den toilet bowl slide was added in 2003 ... 8 years!!!

I was actually rather disappointed in the ProSlide SuperLoop attraction at WhiteWater World. It's a decent attraction, but over-hyped for what it is. It just feels like a Behemoth bowl without the tube if you ask me. The only part that is nerve wracking is the "SkyBox" when the floor drops away. The WhiteWater West version is much better

WHAT??? You call that Proslide version a looping slide? You've got to be kidding! That doesn't look very thrilling. It's not even a real loop. Call it the 10 min Grizzly turn around! Boo I was picturing more like a real loop. I'll still go on it though. It's about time Raging Waters get's a new slide. I can't believe it's been 8 years since the last new slide Dragon's Den.

Well, there is Scorpion's Tail opening (or opened, not sure) at Noah's Ark (I think). And that German one. Those are inclined loops, but still!

Could it be possible Pro Slide has worked out a similar inclined loop slide and this will be the first one from them ?

^From what I've read on their web page (see page 1), I think they want to keep it a flat turn, not an inclined loop.

Does anyone know what year Raging Waters San Jose first opened? & Was the Rampage the only slide that got taken out?(I think it was after the 1991 season because when I was there in 1991 I saw a kid get taken away on a strecher after going on it). Hey good news I emailed Raging Waters San Jose & here is a quote from my email from them today: "Next time around, I think the wait will be less than 3 years for a new ride!" YAHOO!

I will be riding this tomorrow as I head to Raging Waters after I drop my parents off at San Jose airport for their morning flight to HI. Expect to see a photo TR within a few days.

The gimmack of the new technology is so someone can't get stuck or roll back. Even so, what's the big deal if someone does? They simply put a trap door on the bottom of the loop on Whitewater's version. Like Gumball said before, it appears to be a larger version of CGA's helix slide. Maybe there is hope that Sacramento can get one too?

On somewhat of an irrelated topic, (I cannot think of any other forum to ask this) does anyone know the current status of Roseville's Master Blaster? I drove two hours to go there just to get my first Master Blaster credit, and it was closed . I heard from a staff member that they were missing a part from the manufacterer. I will probably try going out there again soon.
