The_Mad_Hatter Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 So I always here on the forums about a California Great America GCI and even read somewhere that a layout was released. I searched for a while and couldn't find very much information on this highly rumored attraction whose layout was apparently leaked as well. I was just wondering if anyone here could tell/ show me a little about this project. thanks.
robbalvey Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 This is what the park announced: In 2009, California's Great America will add to its roster of thrillrides a new world-class wooden coaster. This copious coaster will boast a lift of 104 feet and take riders on a two minute ride at 52 mph through a twisting first drop, low to the ground S-turn, and a high speed station fly-by! Designed by Great Coasters International, this ride promises to take coaster enthusiasts to new heights. And these were some of the images of the concept art and ride design floating around:
SoCalCoasters Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I found an unoffical video made in No Limits that presents what the ride would have been like....such a shame, the ride would have been a fantastic addition... I'm not certain, but I believe the ride was cancled due to the neighbors whinning about the noise the ride would create.... Heh, people complain about SFA getting shafted, look at GCA, the last new thing was Firefall, a used Top Spin from GL in 2008....
Calicoasters Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 ^From what we were told at Bay Area Bash, the project has been delayed until this stadium business is sorted out. This is something the corporate office decided, not the park.
The_Mad_Hatter Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Oh wow... that ride really does look massive! Thanks for the pictures and information. Too bad its currently delayed, although I hope for Great America that it happens one day.
Skycoastin Steve Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 One of the guys from GCI commented on a post on their facebook page that the CGA project wound up as Prowler instead. So who knows if the CGA one will ever get built?
Angry_Gumball Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I was just going to mention this in the CGA thread. I did however ask (don't think I'll get too much info though) if the project's been scratched out altogether or if things are still in the works. Such a shame...whiny neighbors...
cal1br3tto Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Add me to the list of people who would love for this to happen. It irks me that this hasn't worked out so far and may never, but it's best just not to think about it. The layout looks great and if it would ride anything like Prowler...WOW.
