thrillrider
We just got back this morning from our trip to Kings dominion for east coast bash. It was great to finally meet some of you. I have to say, you TPR members are very nice and welcoming. As far as the event went, we had a blast. The ert on 305 was just pure crazy. On the way to kings dominion, we stopped by dorney park for a few hours as well. We left our home in Michigan at 9am on saturday morning. We had a quick stop for breakfast on the way. Look...They still have drive in movies. cool... Sigh..... Since east coast bash at kings dominion was not untill sunday, we had time to visit dorney park for a few hours. But first we had to pass thru the state that wins the award for the most construction zones in a single state. Durring a bathroom stop, they had a game in one of the bathrooms. I won a balloon. Are we there yet? We wanted to stop and visit the situation, but we did not have time. The official seal of the state of Pennsilvania. We took the tunnel. And we also got laid. Almost there. Coca cola park? Yayyy...Dorney park. The parking lot was just slammed. We ended up having to park on the grass. The entrance plaza Talon. I really enjoyed this coaster. The wave swinger.....swinging The park was getting ready for halloween. Hydra, in all it's great green glory. It's a really fun ride. I see you demon drop. Uh oh...what's this I see? That can't be good. He looked annoyed. Since it was so freaking hot, we decided to do the log flume. Dorney park's log flume is quite interesting. You are not allowed to jump over people at dorney park. Splash down. Station shot. I passed on this ride. Did you know??? White water landing. Why does that name ring a bell? I have heard of this ride before also. Time to get gripped by fear. Uggg.... Dorney has domos!!! Cedarfair is getting into the text thing like six flags. Hydra......the revenge Even with the park being packed, it was maybe a 15 min wait. It would have been a better shot if the sun was out, and there was a train on the track. Noted... I have seen these "holes" on the flying coasters, but never on a floorless. The himalaya. The rocket. More domos...They are mutiplying. This ride is da whip. It's a great classic ride, allthough I think they run it slower these days. Kaitlyn digs the whip. Geek shot. I skipped this ride. She makes friends everywhere she goes. Wow. The kiddie coaster has a 48' height requirement. It's a powerd rollercoaster. There was no lift hill chain. Dorney park has bins on the platform, right next to the train. With only a half hour to go before the park closed, we were able to get a ride on the demon drop. It looked exactly like this when it was at cedarpoint. The station They redid the ride cars. The only differance in the ride from when it was at cedarpoint, was that it went really slow up the lift. Random menu. We only had time for one more ride, so we took my daughter on the mouse coaster. Just just hit the 44 inch mark, so this was her first time on a mouse coaster. She loved it. The gift shop on the way out, had a bunch of domo things. Not sure what this was supposed to be. It was time for the 4 hour drive to kings dominion, so we stocked up on snacks. I got potato chips, made with potatoes. After getting 3 hours sleep, it was time to go to kings dominion. Sorry folks, park's closed...moose out front should have told you. The gps brought us to the wrong gate. We made it. While waiting for the parking lot to open, we got to see the "special" police. Yep...almost halloween time. Time to pick up our event package. No wonder the line was so long......lol The official even t shirt. Ellisa was there making sure everything was good and peachy. My daughters first coaster event. Here it is...the shot that most people don't have. First ert of the day was on dominator. Huge first loop. Even with lots' of members there, it was maybe a 5 min wait at most. Noted The maintnance ball hidden under a tarp. Coasters and TPR bus. We love dominator. I present to you a TPR exclusive....The fountain turned off. You would have to wait to see the world of color untill 10:30 am. Remember....ride safe. Random menu. I like to have at least 1 in each of my reports. Anybody know what this bridge is for? It was pointless. If you like wood, this is the place for you. Grrr....I am grizzly, and I have no penis. They finnaly put a real sign up for grizzly. I bet there are a lot of upset ace members out there. The grizzly juice god. Weeee!! It's really hard to get a good shot of this ride, as it's hidden in the woods. Look at me, I have 10 fingers. Domo!!! After our ert, we walked over to I-305 to be the first people in line for the day. I think it's time that domo's start using birt control. The bumper cars were closed, so they could get ready for halloweekends. Edited August 24, 2010 by thrillrider
thrillrider
More..... I will have the last group of pictures up in about a half hour. The "congo". Home of flight of fear, and intimidator 305. We got the first rides on 305 I never could understand why some of the newer B&M coasters brake runs are on an angle like this. We passed fort kinzel. The lift for this coaster is huge. I thought it looked taller than millennium force. Since it was raining, they were only running 1 train. But thats all they needed. While waiting for the ride to open, my daughter made friends with kid tums. 305 Is a very nice looking ride. Rob with his man purse. It started to rain, so we decided to come back to 305 a little later. So while we were waiting for the rain to stop, we were able to get a quick ride on flight of fear. Gift shop...the ride. Our next stop While in line for volcano, I was able to get a few shots of avalanch. This is my daughters favorate coaster. Crooked lift hill shot. The track for the ride, loos like it's made up of pvc pipes. Nerd shot. It's a zz top tiki god. While in line, my daugter won a domo. She was so excited. The long caged in tunnel that smells like butt juice. Don't mess with me. We had to wait while they put another train on. Noted. There were still signs of coaster track left in the volcano. They have a pit where they throw the line jumpers. The girl in the picture looked like she was gonna yack. The crypt. Don't mess with my Domo!!! Time to go ghost hunting. There used to be a lot more theming in the q line Noted.. Time for lunch. Rocket pop, and Domo= happy girl. Pocket pool anyone? The park staff did a great q&a. Awwww The kids were have fun dropping grass on amy's head. This years park map. After lunch, we went on a treasure hunt. Hey guys, he is single if your interested. Ummm..ok I found the booty. There were jewels everywhere. More halloween construction. Arrow mega looper....nuff said. Just about the entire ride was over the water. Dueling lift hills. Yo homies...what it be? It be time for 305 walk back. Wave to the people. Pictures of this ride, do not do it justace. In between anaconda, and 305 Anacanda train hits the lift. There were still footers in the ground for the old arrow shuttle coaster. Random crap. The base of the lift. Sexy 305 has a cable lift...and a fast one at that. As you can see, we were right next to the ride. The HUGE first turn. The lift hill footer goes down 60 feet into the ground. Criss cross will make you jump. Looking right into the racers crotch. The barrel for the lift hill cable. The other footers go 5 feet into the ground. The trims that everyone likes. Insert your own caption here. Maintnance road for the racer. I love this picture. 305 has some beefy track. Wayyyy up there. Random game. In case you did not know what this was, they label it for you. Noted. After the tour, we took a spin on backlot stunt coaster. The sky started to look evil.

thrillrider
Here are the rest of the pictures from kings dominion. I have a short video I will post here in a few as well. Enjoy....... After the storm blew by, I got freaky with a statue. Footsie wootsie anyone? Not sure what's going on in this picture. Time for the togo death trap. My daughter and amy suggested that I skip it. Not sure what to say here.... They make it look so easy. Stats... It looks like a midevil torture device. I love how the control booth is way up in the ceiling. Kings islands ex togo stand up was the same way. Geek shot. It's the helix of death. Took a quick spin on the merry go round. This merry go round has boobs, so that qualifies it as a good ride. I have tried several time, but I can't figure out how to snap the cables. Random menu Sponge bob? I thought nick was done ? Pain...the ride. I think they used to have a bunch of movie props from waynes world in the station. Like the mouse coaster at dorney park, my daughter can now ride this as well. She ended up loving it. This I think is the best of the racing coasters clones. I love that movie rollercoaster. 1 Train operation....yuck. Great ride, but needs some paint. The flying eagles is kaitlyn approved. I like this shot for some reason. I used to ride this at geauga lake. It was now night time ert. We did volcano a few times, one time on flight of fear, and 8 times on 305. Here is the lift hill at night for 305. It looks great at night, the picture does not show how nice it really looks. Gentleman......start your engines Oh what great fun you are 305. Kaitlyn got cumfy using domo for a pillow durring ert. On the way home, we hit the waffle house before driving 10 hours straight home. Needless to say, we are a little tired today. thrillrider
Here is a short video of the ERT on 305. Not the best quality because I took it with my digital camera. thrillrider
I forgot a few. One of the many signes in PA. I feel so much safer now that waffle house has survalance cameras.
chadster
Thanks for sharing dude, that TOGO is most certainly a death trap, rode it once, vowed to never again, I couldn't walk right for days Edited August 24, 2010 by chadster
let1gre
the state that wins the award for the most construction zones in a single state. Oh my god, that entire state is constantly under construction. I swear they dig things up just to put them back again. Also, fun TR. Really jealous of everyone that went, it looks like a great day. chadster
^ try living in Oklahoma, we have 34 bridges being replaced near me at the moment, all at the SAME time and 22 of them on the same stretch of 10 miles of highway, ughhh....
thrillrider
I don't think they will ever finish the roads in PA. The same roads that were under construction 10 years ago, are still under construction today. There will be 10 miles of construction, 2 miles of no construction, and 10 more miles of construction. Just repeat that over and over again. And the worst part, is that you have to pay money to drive on the roads there.
Amy Baby
Great pics!!! Here is one that got missed. BTW East Coast Bash was amazing. On another note, while at Dorney Park, we all felt like that we were the minority. Other than that, it is a great park. I got a photo op with Robb while on the backstage tour of I 305!!! What a nice guy.

Just repeat that over and over again. And the worst part, is that you have to pay money to drive on the roads there. Massachusetts is the same way. Both states have the same exact stretches of road that are perpetually under construction, and the reason is largely due to corruption, usually through a combination of pork and good old-fashioned shady backroom deals. thrillrider
Yes Amy....everyone we talked to at the event was really friendly. Knowing that, I am more likely to do another TPR event in the future. We have done events with ace and other organizations in the past, and none compare to the awsomeness of the TPR event. YoshiFan
Coca Cola park is a baseball stadium where the Iron Pigs play (minor league team for the Phillies). I can't believe how crowded Dorney looks, especially the picture with the walkway to Wildwater Kingdom.
Sir Clinksalot
Awesome stuff!!! I think I saw that same construction zone when we were in PA in 2005.
KDcoasterMAN
The "Pointless Bridge" use to be apart of the Day of Thunder queue... It's useless nowadays. And the Volcano "coaster track" is the old Smurf Mountain ride. I wish I could have been at East Coast Bash this year but events (including school) have conspired against me. C.Diesel
Thrillrider... Great TR as always. Really enjoy how you throw in some minor everyday stuff. Even though I live in Colorado now, I know right where that drive in theater is and where that bridge is on the Ohio Turnpike. Amy... Happy Birthday! Across_the_Universe
I really wished I could've gone to ECB. But I was at Kennywood the day before that with the High School Marching Band, and we got home at like 12 Sunday morning, and since ECB meet-us was like at 8, that meant we would've hadto've left at 2 AM. Not a good idea! Oh, PA roads do suck. US 22 is like perpetually under construction, and it's the main way to get from Johnstown to Pittsburgh. Oh, and one of the roads in my town, a major one at that, is getting it's turn widened, so a normally 4-lane road in now a 2-lane road. It's the main way to get to the high school from where I live. Bus rides are gonna be so much fun. It sucks.

Chroniq
. On another note, while at Dorney Park, we all felt like that we were the minority. Other than that, it is a great park. Minority in which way? I'm confused...
tatertot3710
^She probably means that she felt like the only white people/English speaking people in the park. Chroniq
Alright... I'll just go out and say it.. The amount of Mexicans, Blacks, Continental Chinese and Tim Danners at Dorney Park ruined my day as well..
thrillrider
Anyways.... I have to say that I was impressed with 305. Even with the trims, I grayed out after the first drop every time I was on it. I don't like the trims on the first drop as the first drop of any tall coaster is my favorite part. But they are needed in this case. To be honest, I was not expecting much from this coaster, but was pleasantly surprised.
