Am I the only one who doesn't understand the themeing? To me it looks like a church, a plane crash, a random firetruck, and some weird emergency building. WTF?

Random stuff and poop

I had the chance to ride the swarm today, and all I can say is that it is incredible. Especially going upside down after the lift hill without holding onto the restraints just really does make you fall out of your seat. I loved the parts on the zero-g roll and the corkscrew where it just kind of stops and pushes your whole body forward then kicks you back again, in a comfortable way. And the station flyover is just perfect. Everything of The Swarm is perfect, though I think the effects need a bit of work on them. Also, the new toilets are nice.

The more intense the theme the less intense the ride seems to be the trend for more recent installations, especially across the pond.
"Next, we are going to solicit the children of strangers so that we can go on a ride designed for children. This is so I can post online and impress other people who are very good at procuring unfamiliar children in order to go on rides designed for children, and thus have a higher arbitrary number than me."

Gigalyte wrote:One reason I believe Swarm is being called rubbish by some is b/c of the outrageous marketing Thrope park did for this ride. Saying it was so intense it was ripping off arms and legs off test dummies then you get there and finally ride to find out it's nothing more then a Boring and Mundane B&M. I understand the need to hype your new ride but imo Thrope and Alton just takes it way to far and have people expecting way to much.

Exactly. Had they said with Thirteen "This is a really nice family ride with some unexpected thrill sections", I think I would have liked it much better. It's about as thrilling as Expedition Everest.

Had they told me that Expedition Everest was "SO OMFG INTENSE THAT A YETI WILL RIP YOUR ARMS OFF AND BEAT YOU WITH THEM", I would have been very disappointed with that also.

I really feel like Thorpe and Alton need to re-think their marketing efforts by not setting false expectations.

^I think I was too traumatized to have any sort of reaction to Anaconda, other than some sort of pain spasm.

I think for many of us who have ridden SWARM so far, we're dealing with some let downs. We all knew it would be a short ride but one that should have packed a punch. After a fun first drop, it just sorta bounces along. After being impressed with X2 a few months ago, it makes me increasingly frustrated that the UK doesn't seem to strive for world class coasters anymore (I know alot of it has to do with our ridiculous planning restrictions). I'm sure after a return visit it'll probably start to grow on me a bit.

Last week was also the first time I've got round to riding SAW. Now THAT'S a ride. Great indoor section, airtime, fast transitions, a well rounded ride experience if a little bumpy

I actually really like thirteen but as a fun family coaster experience, nothing more. I'm UBER excited to be trying out Verbolten in June (see what I did there?) but I'm sure once I return, my love for thirteen will plummet significantly :(

Fingers crossed that Wild Eagle lives up to it's name!
