maybe it's okay to have a big drop pointed north? i was always curious about that hood they put on ghostrider. that drop is pointed to the closest residences. i know you can still hear knotts pretty good to the east where my friends house is on the other side of the parking lot.

anyway, i hope they install a small airtime machine.

I don't believe Buena Park has specific noise limits but the noise has to be reduced to a certain level by the time it reaches residential and certain commercial zones so the noise can't bother people outside the park. They usually have to conduct noise studies and if the city council doesn't like the report findings; they require modifications like scream shields or modifying the ride layout to be further from the perimeter of the park.

I'm sorry if this opinion has already been stated but am I the only person who's pretty sure that Boomerang is going to replaced with a flower bed, trees, or something lame like that?

I'd definitely love to see a new coaster but I feel like Boomerang's footprint is just way too small to put any new rides in.
Life is like a roller coaster- it has its ups, its downs, its heartline rolls, its batwings, its immelmanns, its corkscrews, is pretzel loops, its..... never mind.

Let's remember that even though the footprint for the Boomerang ride is small, the ride replacing it can expand beyond it. A bigger ride may only need Boomerang's footprint for its station.

A Dive Coaster sounds like the best fit. The lifts are steeper and the drop vertical so it takes less space than a traditional steel coaster. The drop could be made longer by going underground also. Just please don't make it super short like those 2 others in Europe. It would be also the only one of its kind on the West coast.

I find this interesting because a few years ago one of my buddies used to live near Knott's along La Palma Ave, basically across the street from the Goodyear Store (which is right next to the Fatburger) and you could hear Montezuma infamous sound as it goes through the loop, Supreme Screams air release, and people screaming on Xcelerator. Considering the park is open till 1 or 2 am and these rides are still running, or Grad Nites which go throughout the night, I'm not sure how any other type of coaster they install (besides a roaring B&M, a problem the fixed with Silver Bullet) would be a problem.

Even Boomerang was moderately loud with the big clunks and the drop of the chain lift on the second spike.

Either way I don't think it would be something that would get in the way of them building anything.

They put the shed on GhostRider's drop to limit noise at the hotel.

Knott's has several exciting options that could fit in the spot where Boomerang and Riptide were. I would personally like to see an Intamin Megalite (one can dream), Chance mini-hyper, or a Gerstauer Eurofighter which would all fit nicely in that spot. An Intamin Aquatrax would be awesome but I'm not holding my breath for that one and I don't know if Intamin is going to ever build another one of those anyways. A B&M Dive Machine would be cool too and although a B&M Hyper isn't my first choice, I wouldn't complain if that got built. Anyways, this is an exciting announcement from Knott's removing the Boomerang that I wasn't expecting at this point in time.

(I don't count traveling fairs and casinos as parks, and I count Coney Island as one park)
