Skara Sommarland Discussion Thread

Postby Airtime&Gravity » Wed Oct 15, 2008 8:32 pm

Hey everybody!

This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Skara Sommarland, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page. Original Post

You all remember that strange coaster concept that S&S came up with called Eagle Coaster right? You know, the one that you knew no park would ever build. Well, Skara Sommarland in Sweden is actually building one for 2009. The coaster will be called Tranan, and it will be over 65ft tall, 1640ft long, and have a top speed of near 25mph.

If you don't remember the ride, here is a youtube link to the annimation.

An S&S spokesperson showed this concept off, as well as some other stuff at West Coast Bash, it looks great!

Huh, looks like S&S's version of the 4-D coaster... It'll be interesting to actually see this thing in real life, though.

OMG, Sweet, this will mean that there is another park on the itinerary for next year. It would be perfect to stop by on the way to Stockholm and Gröna Lund for me!!

I think that the TPR Scandi trip just got a new stop on the itinerary.

Yes, I recall it from West Coast Bash too, but I don't know. Probably another concept that looks fun but will be mild to the point of being boring. The S&S rep. even said that the compressed air launch is their bread and butter, and maybe they should just stick to that.

Um...look up Eejanaika. But if you meant a version they came up entirely by themselves, okay, I guess.

Even if it is tame, I'm all for unique and new types of coasters being built. Variety is the spice of life!

These unique coasters are exactly the kind of things I would like to have for family coasters.

The ride looks okay, but I just hope it will be reliable.

Great to see all these different and new types of coasters popping up around the world again in 2009.

The S&S Eagle Coaster looks like a lot of fun to me, does anyone know for sure if S&S is marketing this as a thrill or more family type ride?

Mike
