Liseberg Discussion Thread

First thing that dazzled me was the trees entirely covered in lights. Wow, beautiful and spectacular all at once, lol!

The tents with all the crafts and knights' (Vikings?) things looks great, too. Thanks for sharing all your photos, Marcus!

While I'm not religious or anything, I have to say that I really am digging all of the Christmas events being put on at parks worldwide these days. While I like the Halloween events, the Christmas events are now bringing everything with all of the lights, shows, rides being open, etc...love it!

Today I visited Liseberg in daylight to get some construction photos. Balder was running really fast and the windchill-factor was high due to ca -2°C

I have to clear my backlog, so here is a short photo update from the day before Christmas:

My neighbors got stuck in the Middle Ages market, so I rode AeroSpin a few times :)

I couldn't find if this was confirmed either way, but is it known what type of restraints Valkyria will have? Standard or vest (Like Valravn)?

At this point, the vest harnesses are now the standard.

I am pretty sure it is up to the park to decide if they prefer vest restraints or the older ones. Look at the junior Dive machines across Europe, the newest one being Baron 1889, they all have the old OTSRs.

I agree with you. If a park really really really wanted to have a coaster built with the old design, they probably could. But that decision would need to be made before the layout was even drawn up. The new trains might be wider, ligher or heavier, more or less aerodynamic - than the old style.

The new dive coaster at Happy Valley Chengdu runs the old style, and it hasn't opened yet. But based on my own experiences in working on new theme parks, ESPECIALLY those in markets like China where completed park designs can be stalled, I'd bet that that coaster was probably designed and finalized years ago and is only now getting built.

Unless B&M pulls a fast one on us and puts the old style on Grona Lund's new inverted coaster, I stand by my prediction of the new vest style being on every B&M coaster save for the hyper coasters from now on (though without the vest for the family inverted coasters).

This is starting to get really exciting! I'm really looking forward to see supports and track going up.

I also went back and re-watched the POV and I think this ride looks to have a really solid layout! I love the immelmann-turn-zero-G-roll combination! With my last visit to Liseberg being in 2016 it's definitely time to head back in 2018!

It'll be interesting to see if the Griffon Clone in Korea has the new restraints since it's a new coaster of an older design but also an installation that was pushed back.

Liseberg has release the information that all of the construction work of Valkyria will be done before the summer season, but electrical work and testing will not be done. A exact date for the opening is not released yet.

Because they started with ground preparations for Helix over one year ahead.

And they was not complete with the track until march, I think (you have to check my brother's construction updates yourself, because I'm in Japan for the moment.....).
