Dollywood Discussion Thread

P. 796 - Ride closing 10/30 to remove launch and install chain lift!

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody!

This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Dollywood and Dollywood's Splash Country, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Page.

Sounds like at least one park knows how to treat thier supporters. A group of people were waiting to see The Moscow Circus and were handed, what they believed to be normal tickets, but when they got inside, Dolly herself came on stage and informed everyone that for the 20th season of Dollywood they got FREE platinum passes to Dollywood and Splash Country. Free parking and free admittance to the park. the passes expire IN TWENTY YEARS.

Thats right they gave 1600 people twenty year passes to the park, and it sound like that is just the start.

Anyone know what day this happened? I almost went on April 2, but I had to ride the re-tracked Cheetah at Wild Adventures. I hope it wasn't April 2 because I would be kicking myself right about now.

  • 2 months later...

Hello everyone I have some great news for Dollywood. I live in TN so I keep up with the park because its the only one worth keeping up with in Tennessee.

I received some information from Dollywood about choosing names for 2 of the new thrill rides at the park as well as choosing a name for 2 new water slides at the splash park.

From the way the artist drawings and descriptions of the rides I cant wait.

One will be a coaster with twists turns and drops but one drop I like best is a vertical drop, yes that's what I said VERTICAL! The coaster will be based around a mine theme, a haunted mine theme.

the other thrill ride for this section will be a tower ride but not a free fall from description. it described it as a very tall tower designed as a log. just like a free fall or gyro drop the seats face outward and circles the entire log. it rises to the top but then does something never seen before the tower falls no the seats but the whole tower falls from side to side near missing sharp pointy logs and water splashes up on the riders.

Both of these new rides will be added in an expansion behind thunderhead bathrooms. There is also rumors of other rides to be mixed in as well as another new coaster.

also for splash country there will be an addition of 2 new slides, power slides that are straight down like most water parks have

A mine-themed Eurofighter and a Topple Tower eh. Nice combo. 8)

I'm willing to bet it's going to be similar to the artwork they showed last year:

A park I want to visit in the near-future. A great theme and atmosphere from what I've seen and heard.

i saved the artwork that was with them it sounds and looks great! the photos you show arnt the same. also it was to help choose a name for the rides. but it looks like it could be great theres also mention of a few other flat rides to be added in as well. which is great because dollywood really dont offer alot of major thrills. thunderhead and tornado are great but for someone that goes like 6 or 7 times a year they just become fun lol. so its exciteing for me i just hope they do like she mentioned in opening day of this year i hope they do build a dollywood 2 or 3 . because talk is that it will be built south of nashville which is where i live yeah rah!
