The Eviel Knievel Coaster Construction Photos!

Postby coasterking2981 » Sat Apr 26, 2008 3:09 pm

Ok, I am completely unaware of any topics about this new wooden coaster, so please forgive me if its already a topic.

I think its going to be a great coaster personnally, and I can only hope SFMM will get a new wooden coaster similiar to this one or El Toro.

I'll post only a few photos (Rob, Elissa, and any other TPR staff memebers, can you help me with readjusting the size of the pictures to make them bigger?)

For any of you who dont know, this wooden coaster is being built at Six Flags St. Louis.

Reminds me a bit of Ghostrider at Knotts, though I doubt Evel Knievel will be anywhere near as painful.

I'm heading to the STL sometime this summer, and I want to plan it so the coaster is open. Do they have an official date yet? Everything I've seen only says mid summer.

This ride looks really cool so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed that SFMM's 2009 coaster is a GCI. I mean Six Flags St. Louis has 8 coasters and three of them are wooies, but for a park to have 16 and just Colosus? Colosus isn't even that great.

^ We do know that SFMM's 2009 coaster is supposed to be a "family" ride. So far, I've not heard anyone say for sure that it's steel, so a small woodie could be possible...

However, I think it will be a small steel something or other. No inversions, whatever it is. Mark Shapiro has already said he's not much for them.

Well if your going to be in STL for a couple days check out www.explorestlouis.com It will give you ideas for things to do outside of Six Flags.

Having ridden all the GCI's to date, here's how I rank them:

1. Ozark Wildcat - Solid "A+" ride!
2. Kentucky Rumbler - "A"
3. Troy - "B+"
4. Thunderhead - "B"
5. Thunderbird - "B"
6. Renegade - "B-"

The above rides are all quite fun, and easily re-ridable.

7. Wildcat - "B-" (Only ridden with the PTC's)
8. Lightning Racer "B-"
9. Roar East - "C+"
10. Roar West - "C"
11. Gwazi - "C-" (PTC's really hurt this ride)

The rides above here are OK. I would like to ride the Wildcat with the new MF trains. Yet, Roar East seems a little better than it's west coast version because of the PTC's.

Wildcat is much less jarring with the MF trains and negotiates the course much smoohter, however the lap bars have a nasty tendency to ratchet down during the ride to the point where it can be painful for many. I wish GCI would address this, it's really hard to even think about enjoying the ride when all you want is for it to be over so the lapbar can be unwedged from your gut.
