    • I'll just leave these here for everyone to glance at. Last image is likely what the tube slide part of the complex will be. The other one is likely going to be a matt racer style slide.    As for the former looping starship plot of land, it appears to unfortunately just be an expansion to the former barefoot beach. Nothing special just a small added lagoon. Now as to why Valleyfair felt the need for now a total of three kiddie areas I'm not entirely sure. Barefoot beach always felt kinda small anyway, so I guess this is their way of addressing that.    I also attached an image I found on Reddit of the presentation of Valleyfair at No Coaster Con. It would appear corporate still doesn't want to say much, which is rumored to be creating frustrations from any individual park management left, which is understandable. Remember when they put up that live time lapse cam of North Star's construction? Free missed marketing opportunity. The image from ncc also shows some detailed masonry wall art, of which I'm not sure what it belongs to.    Curious to see what other people's thoughts are on this thread (lol does anyone even read this thread anymore or have the lack of additions truly led to the death of enthusiasm on this thread)?

The company has confirmed that Orlando is targeted to be the first location in this new series of destinations. https://corporate.mattel.com/news/mattel-announces-development-of-mattel-wonder-indoor-waterparks-with-partners-martin-aquatic-american-resort-management-and-i-dentity-group Mattel, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAT), a leading global toy and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world, today announced Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks™, a series of experiential aquatic destinations to create a new form of entertainment featuring Mattel’s beloved brands. Visit i-dentity.co.   The Orlando Sentinel posted a follow-up story this week confirming that the new Orlando location will sit roughly 10 minutes from Walt Disney World near the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores outlet mall.  The site plan calls for a 90,000-square foot indoor waterpark that will be 60 feet tall and have a retractable roof. There’s also an outdoor park and event lawn, a slide zone and over 11,000 square feet of retail planned for the attraction. (Site plan by Kimley-Horn) https://www.orlandosentinel.com/2026/01/16/location-revealed-for-mattels-new-toy-themed-waterpark/ The location of toy giant Mattel’s new indoor waterpark is no longer a mystery. It’s going to be 10 minutes from Disney on Vineland Road, just south of the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores outlet mall. The development team, which is composed of Mattel and Orlando-based Martin Aquatic, filed conceptual plans this week for the 11-acre site that will feature a 90,000-square-foot indoor water park with a retractable roof, an outdoor waterpark and event lawn, a “slide zone” and 11,400 square feet of retail space, according to a report in GrowthSpotter. The building could be up to 60 feet high, which is definitely tall enough to fit a life-sized Barbie Dream House. The plan from Kimley-Horn shows parking for 752 vehicles, including 368 to be located in a parking garage. The company behind such iconic brands as Barbie, Hot Wheels and Thomas the Tank Engine, announced the water park venture just before Thanksgiving. Creative and operational work is underway, led by Orlando-based Martin Aquatic. The Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark is planned for an 11-acre site on S.R. 535, next to the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores. (Orange County Property Appraiser) “I can say that we will have an exclusive ride that will be a water slide that you can only experience at Mattel,” Josh Martin, president and creative director, told the Orlando Sentinel. This will be the first of five such attractions, branded as Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks. The design focus is on bringing the world of Mattel products to life, and each park will have 12 or more unique brands featured, Martin said. “We’re looking at those classic, iconic elements … What is familiar but unique about a Barbie area? So we look at the architecture. We’re not so focused on having Barbie characters. That’s not going to be the intent,” Martin said. “Mattel has an incredible history of board games and Mattel toys and games, and so being able to look at things like Uno, and think outside the box — what if I were to design a water slide that was around Uno? What elements would I include that feels like you’re playing the game?” Some vendors have been selected, he said, including Canada-based OpenAire, which makes an aluminum-glass building with a retractable roof. “The beauty of their building is it’s not like the traditional Great Wolf Lodge or some of the old legacy indoor water parks. It has natural light. It’s got a roof that lets natural weather come in,” Martin said. “In Florida, it’s going to be weatherized and protect us. We’re not going to run the risk of afternoon thunderstorms clearing out our water park.” The vacant land, right on the Orange-Osceola line and north of the Sunrise City mixed-use district, is owned by Countyline Properties LLC. They previously submitted plans about a decade ago to build a second phase of the outlet mall on the property, which would have added roughly 110,000 square feet of new retail space, but never followed through on the project.
    • Särkänniemi has shared some new off-season photos of the snow-covered park, including photos of the under-construction Konect family coaster! https://www.instagram.com/p/DTvCQHCCj3w/?img_index=4&igsh=Y2F6YmF3OGNsdGM2 Towards summer and a new roller coaster! 🤩 The construction of the Konect roller coaster, which will open in the summer of 2026, is progressing on schedule. During the first part of the year, the first sections of the track were put in place and from now on, this wonderful novelty will rise at a fairly rapid pace! 🎢 Konect is Finland's first bigger roller coaster, where a meter long amateur can ride it together with an adult. 🧑 🧒 Enough speed for the wild ones, but still not too wild for the youngest of the family or the parents and grandparents. 😌 At 525 meters long, 27 meters high and a top speed of 68 kilometers per hour, this is definitely not a small coaster. In fact, it is the longest family roller coaster built by @vekoma.rides.manufacturing in Europe, and also the tallest in its category.💡 The new hamburger restaurant, which will be opened next summer, is also being built at a great pace. Are you going to come and feast during leisure? 😋🍔🥤 Only 101 more nights and we get to Särkänniemi, Särkänniemi again! 🎈😎🎉
    • It’s the only coaster where the 'floorless' experience refers to the fact that they forgot to put a floor over the 2002 Corolla oil stains.
    • We appreciate your contributions, but please don't use an LLM to write your posts. Thank you!
    • I remember once the management jokingly said they were going to repaint the parking lot lines there to keep up the theming.  They obviously weren't being serious. but they did really say that... so they're fully aware of the reputation of the ride in that regard.
    • How would proper drainage possibly function with that proposed solution? The immediate concern is that simply placing sod over an impermeable asphalt surface would almost certainly result in a significant problem, creating a large, soggy, and unpleasant mess whenever there is any rainfall.
    • This reads extremely AI generated.  And yeah, none of that is going to happen.  The most likely solution is throwing a layer of dirt over the parking lot and laying down sod.  And that isn't going to happen either.
    • I don't think any of that is going to happen. It's going to stay on the decaying parking lot.
    • The "mocked coaster" you’re referring to is Scream!, a Bolliger & Mabillard floorless coaster that opened in 2003. It is famously (and relentlessly) teased by enthusiasts because Six Flags literally built it on top of a former parking lot without removing the asphalt or the white parking stripes. Even after a 2015 repaint into its current blue and orange "Screampunk" colors, the ride still sits over a sea of sun-cracked pavement. To transform this area and separate it from its "parking lot" reputation, Six Flags could move beyond simple landscaping and try these "outside the box" concepts: 1. The "Steam Dome" (Converting to Indoor) Converting a 150-foot-tall coaster into an indoor ride is a massive architectural challenge, but it would completely change the park's skyline. The Concept: Enclose the entire coaster in a massive, darkened industrial warehouse or a "domed foundry" to fit the Screampunk District. The Experience: By making it an indoor "dark coaster," you could add synchronized lighting, fog effects, and "near-miss" elements with industrial machinery. Precedent: Cedar Point did this with Disaster Transport (though on a smaller scale). For Scream!, the building would need to be roughly 15 stories tall, making it a "Space Mountain on steroids." 2. The "Industrial Trench" (Landscaping Overhaul) If a full building is too expensive, the park could "hide" the parking lot by changing the ground level’s appearance. The Idea: Break up the asphalt and replace it with a mix of dark gravel, rusted metal plates, and "sunken" ponds. * The "Box" Idea: Build concrete retaining walls or "berms" (man-made hills) around the perimeter of the ride's footprint. This creates a physical bowl that traps sound and blocks the view of the actual guest parking lot nearby, making the ride feel like it’s in its own excavated canyon. 3. "The Factory" (Partial Enclosures & Tunnels) Instead of one big building, Six Flags could build several smaller "thematic shells" that the track dives in and out of. The Concept: Create "head-chopper" tunnels at the bottom of the first 141-foot drop and through the interlocking corkscrews. Outside the Box: Use vertical gardens or "living walls" on the supports. This would turn the coaster into a green, "overgrown" industrial relic, completely masking the grey pavement below with lush, hanging vines and steampunk structures.
    • Except it has one of the most mocked coasters around in relation to being in a parking lot.
