  1. Got an official answer on a question I asked a while back, since my son and I made an unplanned trip to the park today. (When in doubt, go to Six Flags, ha.) If you have a Diamond Elite membership and do not make a parking reservation, you can park in the regular preferred lot.
  2. They have cut back on the scare zones and ramped up the haunted houses this year. The areas in Texas and Mexico have the props used for the scare zones in prior years, but no scare actors, so there are just, like, random doors and whatnot. It makes sense from a money standpoint...why give away the spooky for free when you can make people pay for the haunted houses? But it does make the park feel anemic compared to years past for those of us who are perfectly fine with the level of scares the scare zones provide, ha. Only scare zones we encountered were the sideshow folks near Looney Tunes land, the swamp folks near Superman, and some pig hybrid folks near Yosemite Sam. Might be one in the Gotham area? We haven't made it over there. Friday still remains the best for enjoying the after dark offerings, imo. We went both last night and last Sunday, and The Awakening was as packed as a set at Coachella 20 minutes prior to the start for both. On Friday, my son and I walked right up to the front of the roped off area 5 minutes before showtime. Yesterday was crazy crowded in general. Even the train reached capacity and left folks on the platform. Thank God my 4 year old's favorite coaster is the Shock Wave...never had a line yesterday. And the single rider lines for La Vibora and Pandemonium are the best. My kid gets to ride over and over, and I can wait for him at the exit with my guts and limbs intact. (5 times in a row on the Shock Wave made my stomach hit Maximum Fun early in the day.)
  3. Have a question hopefully one of y'all can answer. I know at least Sportsdude360 has a Diamond Elite membership. I can't find online where Diamond Elite members have to park on days they don't make a super fancy parking reservation. Can you park in the less fancy preferred lot, or is general the only option if it isn't a planned-by-midnight-the-night-before visit?
  4. I've been taking my 4 year old son to Fright Fest on Friday nights. (He likes the zombie dancers and is pretty chill about the spooky folks getting in his face in the scare zones.) The crowds are manageable, and we have a good time walking around and occasionally riding stuff. I decided to switch things up and take him on Sunday afternoon so we could get some daytime and nighttime Fright Fest fun in. It was super crowded when we got there, but I heard so many parents noting that they needed to head out by 6 that I thought it would clear out a bit by the time The Awakening started. WRONG. And then it was nuts to butts walking around. I can only imagine how packed it is on Saturdays. We'll stick to our Friday night routine this weekend. The Awakening is a lot more, uh, satan-y than the past few years, ha.
  5. I'm actually going tomorrow. Took the day off, so I'll be there from open until 4ish. In the past month, I've seen that thing shut down twice for barfs cleanup. I'm actually terrified to ride it and be on the receiving end of someone's nervous stomach, ha.
  6. Hello, all. I'm a grown lady who likes going to SFOT, but it's hell trying to find anyone to go with me, particularly during the week. (I happily burn a few vacation days a year to go ride roller coasters.) I mean, my toddler is certainly a fan, but I can't really take him on the Riddler and whatnot (YET). My husband, bless him, can't ride much of anything without feeling nauseated. A few hours alone to ride what I want can be bliss, but it gets a bit depressing after that. Figured it couldn't hurt to attempt to make some local coaster enthusiast friends who might be at the park when I go.
