  1. I missed xcelerator at kbf because it was closed the day I went! I also missed Deja Vu at MM when I was a kid but rode Aftershock when I went to Silverwood, which is a gib! I skipped the standup and the arrow sit down at California's great America because the lines were too long early in the season this year!
  2. I grew up with this in my hometown, never knowing it was special: http://www.lexingtonicecenter.com/mini%20golf.htm Grew up playing bible mini golf.
  3. Me love them long time if they did...I don't think it's that easy to do manually though except if it was already close maybe by how you configure weight in the train. I've seen rollbacks on the second launch but never the first on YOLO. My first time riding YOLO last year, we launched into the first loop, were pretty much completely upside down, and rolled back into the station. It was incredible. The coaster nerd in me hadn't even considered the possibility before hand but as it was happening, I was so calm (compared to most everyone else in my car who were freaking out) and knew how special that was! Very cool moment.
  4. Hey there! Very excited for you to take your first trip. I've been going since I was a little kid and it's a really special place for me and my family. I am 26 and taking a trip in December this December with my mom and friends - so don't be embarrassed! Would you mind telling us more about the likes/dislikes of the people in your party and yourself. As folks mentioned, its pretty hard to give suggestions without some of these specifics. Especially useful information that goes beyond things like "you should check out *insert e-ticket here" or "this is a really popular restaurant everyone goes to". What would be the most helpful for you to know? Cheers!
  5. Hey all. My friend and I are headed up tonight and he has never ridden the beast! I love the beast! I'm trying to convince him but I need to know what yall think the least rough seat! Thanks!
  6. Seeing those Verbolten pictures really really made me nostalgic for this. Thanks for the great TR.
  7. I love universal but my theme park partner has horrible motion sickness (which for some reason excludes roller coasters) so he didn't really enjoy Universal Studios but loved Disney. I love Universal but I'm dreading the day where I outgrow being able to not get motion sick.
  8. But that would be a c... you know what... never mind. HAH! This!
  9. One of my top 5 - Tatsu, is at SFMM. Excited for this again!
  10. I grew up in Lexington and a highlight of my summer every year was taking a trip to KK with my family and our friends' family. I have really brilliant memories of Chang, Twisted Sisters, those awesome flying shoes and The QUAKE! The Vampire was my first upside down coaster, Thunder Run was my first "big kid" coaster and the Roller Skater was my first coaster ever. I went to UofL from 2009 to 2013. So the park was closed the whole time I was in school. I lived within walking/biking distance THE ENTIRE TIME I went to college. So glad they are finally back open and very excited to visit next year when I go home at some point!
  11. Very likely - there are some top notch coasters at SFMM. I'm excited for you!
  12. It's not directly illegal in the state of Ohio. What that saying from the ride hosts comes from is the rider safety act which in paraphrased terms says riders my obey all posted and verbal policies of the park. So technically since it is a rule that is posted and verbally communicated to guests, you could twist an argument to say cell phone use is illegal. However, please don't think the authorities are out looking for all of the violators of a park policy. The law is in place for liability reasons. In the end, the ride hosts are being snarky when they say that. Good to know - because I know I heard multiple ride ops say "It is illegal in the state of Ohio to use a phone/camera while the ride is in operation." My last visit to CP (which was a few years ago) and at KI, (more recently) I heard it on more rides than less, which is why that stuck with me. I was also interested in it because, it seemed awfully specific. Thanks for the clarification. Could be a useful piece of litigation regardless to delve a bit deeper into regarding the aforementioned issues.
  13. This. Also I'm really surprised none of you have mentioned, or maybe they don't do this anymore, that using a cell phone on a ride in Ohio is actually illegal - the last few times I've been to KI and CP, the ride ops mentioned it on the overhead on numerous rides and I watched the Gemini op one time stop the blue train about an eighth of the way up the lift hill to walk out on to the track and tell someone to put their phone away. I mean - if it is actually illegal in the state, there really should be repercussions akin to Rob's suggestions. I feel like doing anything else illegal would also get you kicked out of the park.
  14. My last new coaster was Corkscrew at Silverwood in Idaho!
