  1. After driving for hours, I finally arrived at Kings Island. The first thing I wanted to do was use the restroom. At the entrance to your left are the restrooms. The door on the left was opened and I saw the sign that read "MENS", so I bolted inside and got inside one of the stalls to do my thing. When I got out, I saw there were women in this restroom, so I quickly bolted out before my discovery caused an outcry and gets me banned for life. The door that was opened covered the sign that read "WOMEN" and since I saw the "MENS" sign and had to go real badly, you can say that this was an honest mistake. Best thing about it is that I got away with it! I did this once at a bowling alley, after riding forever with my sister and her best friend. I dove out the car and flew down the length of the alley. One of them called after me, but I was too intent on my goal. I ran to a stall and achieved nirvana, and once I came out, noticed urinals where urinals shouldn't have been. I got away with it, but I still get teased about it. My actual funniest ride experience was again, with my sister. We were on Adventure Express with a bunch of our friends. My sister doesn't like roller coasters because of the hills, and although we were grown, we'd never been on AE. You know the fakeout hill? She yelled "you told me there were no hills on this ride. I'm going to kill you!" to me and her friends. There were some little kids giggling madly at her anger, especially when, of course, we were faked out and just proceeded. I still tease *her* about that.
  2. My favorite ride that's still at KI is Flight of Fear. I'm crazy about that launch! I went with a group of people and ended up riding with my friend's teenage son. He thought it was lame because I wanted to ride it- we have the best onride photo ever. I'm grinning like I'm crazy, he's effin' terrified. I still tease him about that, a decade later. My favorite ride ever at KI was Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. I managed to miss the whole Crypt mess and in my head it's still perfect with the effects and preshow, and that's the way I like it. It's the only Top Spin I've been on- one of these days I'm gonna hit a park with one and see if the reality measures up to memory.
  3. I was on the Norwegian Pearl in November for a theme cruise. It was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to go with Norwegian again. That said, I found their website to be an absolute pain, having to reset my username and password several times, plus there were a lot of miscommunications between Norwegian and our charter company (On The Boat) about the service charges, drink plans, etc. I was a first timer so that was a little nerve-wrecking, but as I stated, once I actually got to the port everything was fine. We did have bad weather and had to reschedule concerts (I was on a music cruise) and missed Grand Stirrup Cay altogether (we got Nassau instead, I was not impressed). Even with that happening, the ship itself was really nice, the crew friendly and I loved the food- I did one specialty- Le Bistro. I mostly ate in the buffet due to the concert schedules, and the crew had a special late night buffet for concerts ending after midnight. We had an after-hours jam party every night- the last night the crew brought trays of snacks and sandwiches in where we were gathered. THe man thing I remember about navigation oh my ship- on the carpet, the fish swim forward where the cabins are at . If you get turned around, that made it easy to retrace my steps and correct course if I needed. Hope you have fun!
  4. I'd do neither- ownership is too much responsibility and just buying into a park wouldn't be enough. Instead, I'd get the big house with the massive land around it, march over to Disney and buy the copyright and plans for Horizons (the ride system was for sale at one time) and start making magic happen. I'd be nowhere near Florida so the roof issues wouldn't happen, and I know enough people that are into animatronics for fun that would jump at the chance to get paid to maintain them. And there would be much rejoicing.
  5. If loving waterparks as an adult is wrong, I don't wanna be right. If I ever get crazy boatloads of money, I'm building my own wave pool. If I had shame, it would be at the fact that I still ride Gravitrons upside down, 'impressing' the teenage boys. I don't *need* to impress teenage boys 'cause my first name isn't Mary Kay. I think I forget how old I am once we're at the gate. I went with a group of friends to the fair a couple of years ago and we ended up full-tilt running past a group of cops that were like 'slow down youngsters!' We were all at least 25 at the time.
  6. Great TR! Seeing the 20K boat, so cool. We docked next to the Dream in November-that's a lot of ship! Made our look a lil puny, lol.
  7. Favorite flat of all time- the sadly departed Lara Croft:Tomb Raider/Crypt/Giant Top Spin. I love to be flipped and adored this ride. Favorite flat that's still around- Tilt A Whirl. Spins are an acceptable substitute for flips. Runners-up: Flying Eagles, Gravitrons, Himalayas and variations thereof If I ever get somewhere with a Bayern Kurve, I think that would place on my list.
  8. So... I went to the Kingdom today to catch it before end of season next week. I'd been once before in the waning Six Flags days- was profoundly unimpressed and memories of that stupid bridge and dead ends. I was hopeful and sure that nothing could be worse than how it was. My quick thoughts- Only hit Thunder Run out of the big coasters. That airtime is super crazy! My oldest niece went with me- she's 8 and this was her first time at an amusement park and her first coaster. I've created a monster- she grabbed a park map and started planning for next year. We rode a lot of flats because of my nieces' ages. Even the kiddie rides we did had a decent amount of thrills. We also did the Wizard of Oz show at my sister's request. It was probably the 'worst' thing we did all day, but was on the side of pointless more than actually bad. You have to know the story to get anything out of it. This was my first time on Flying Eagles (or Professor John's). I admit to having a fear of heights, but this was so fun that I kept trying to climb higher. My niece asked me how to control her rudder, and on her second time, managed a snap! I'm so proud. I didn't sample any real food (got the girls Dippin' Dots) and only peeked in one shop- the merchandise wasn't thrilling me, so no souvenirs today. I do have to give props to the KK team members- all friendly to a one and smiles on faces. In all, we had a good time, I'm glad it doesn't suck anymore, and I look forward to next year and experiencing Storm Chaser! (Freaky to see it all halfway dismantled, even knowing what's coming.)
  9. The closest Kroger is near Papa John Stadium, on the other side of the bridge and only a couple blocks from the State Fair Grounds. 3165 S 2nd St Louisville, KY 40208 I don't know if Kroger does advance discounted tickets. Thanks! We're hitting the road now- although I'm going with littles in tow, I hope to be able to hit the Runs at some point!
  10. So I'm planning to go to the Kingdom tomorrow. Does anyone know if the advance tickets are still available from local Krogers? (Is there a Kroger close to KK? My knowledge of Louisville is so outdated that Winn-Dixie was my grocer of choice there.) Thanks in advance!
  11. Greezed Lightnin' was still in the park when it closed. KK demo'd it before/around reopening.
  12. Both of our local IPCs closed, the second last year. I really liked the concept and hope they'll make their way back one day!
