  1. Great to hear, going soon and I can't wait. Haven't been in a few years. Also, was Monte open? Someone posted it was open, but their official site still says closed until TBD. Hoping to ride it on my visit this Thursday.
  2. This year of closures has been hard for me, but this one will be the most painful. I'm so lucky I got to go January, when the park was empty and this ride had a walk on. My friends and I rode twice on each side, and I even summed it up as the best ride experience on the entire Orlando trip last time. Not sure why it was the best ride this time around, but it was. Been on this ride many times but just wish I could give it one final goodbye. I'm hoping that it's not destroyed and turned into scrap. Is there not any theme park interested in a dueling B&M invert? I know it takes up a large amount of property but installing this to a new theme park can give it new life. It can duel again and be a major draw for any park it opens at. I can only hope to see it again somewhere else.... Wishful thinking
  3. Was able to get to Knott's this past Tuesday for a visit. Hadn't done the new Ghostrider yet so I was super excited for it. And it definitely did NOT disappoint. It's now right back up there with it being one of my top 10 favorite wooden coasters ever. Welcome back Ghostrider! Unfortunately didn't know about Monte and Xcelerator being closed so I was sad about that on my visit. But then Silver Bullet was closed too?!? Man, couldn't get a break that day. Had a lot of fun nonetheless as the park was completely empty. Most attractions were running multiple trains but Jaguar and Sierra Sidewinder were running one of the two trains empty all day. Not sure what the purpose was. Seems like wear and tear on cars that aren't even holding customers. Anyone know the reason for this? Also it has been a while but did they add a weird "shin bar" on Coast Rider? I barely fit on that ride now, and it was because I'm tall. That was never a problem when I first rode that ride. Was it to fit smaller/younger guest? Completely unnecessary and PAINFUL
  4. Pleasantly surprised Sky Rider at Canada's Wonderland. It was my first Togo Stand-up style coaster and I was actually pretty thrilled/impressed. Sat in the front, no wait, it was all good. Mighty Canadian Minebuster at Canada's Wonderland. After riding Wild Beast I wasn't too thrilled to ride this ride, which was a larger wooden coaster. Assuming it was going to ruin me, it was actually an awesome out and back woodie! Cyclone at Coney Island, NY. It was extreme and crazy, but I had a fucking blast on it. I was extremely snug in my seat and wasn't going anywhere, so I thoroughly enjoyed my ride on it. Desperado at Buffalo Bills. I've always wanted to ride this coaster since I could remember, but had a few friends who went on it and warning me to pass it. They said it was rough, and just not a good ride. I decided on a trip to vegas with my family that we should stop there just to ride it finally, and we did. Me and a friend were the only ones in the car twice. Rode it once in the front, and once in the back. I loved it! Superman: Escape From Krypton at SFMM. I knew I was gonna like it more than the original, but I didn't realize how much more. Something about it is just so awesome and fun to me. Great ride. Kilimanjaro Safari at Animal Kingdom. I love safari rides and tours and whatnot, but I for some reason wasn't expecting a great ride out of this one at all. And I was very pleasantly surprised. It was just a great ride all around. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at IOA. For me I was most surprised from this ride. I saw Travel Channel programs which talked about this ride, seen videos, and had always wanted to ride it. I even expected it to be very fun. But what I got was something more than I expected. I walked off immediately walking back in line. I even feel it's a better ride than Indiana Jones at DLR. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at IOA. It's just a damn good ride. Unpleasant Tatsu at SFMM. Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoy this coaster, and make an effort to ride it when I'm at SFMM, but it was my first flying coaster ever, and I was expecting a lot more. Just assumed it would be more thrilling. In fact, it's kind of boring for me, but it's a very nice ride with a nice layout. But that's all I can say about it...It's nice. The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure at DCA. Terrible pacing, terrible display of the storyline, and terrible use of space. The "Under the Sea" song/scene is FAR too large/long. If everything was condensed closer together and a little smaller, there would have been room for much more story and scenes within the ride. No drama as well. What also made this ride unpleasant was that I saw the original planned Little Mermaid ride that never opened. I believe it was meant for DLP. It has the ride mechanics of Peter Pan, and was lavishly decorated and themed with INCREDIBLE looking scenes. So I had that in mind while taking my first ride on DCA's little mermaid. Don't mind riding it and enjoy it to this day, but it could have been much more. Drop of Doom at SFMM. If only it shot you down like an S&S drop ride. It was very casual and a good ride, with an amazing view. But that's about it. I'm sure there are more that I'm forgetting but these are the ones I can think of.
  5. I would have to say for what I have ridden, Drop of Doom wasn't as exciting as I expected it to be. It doesn't thrust you down like an S&S drop tower, and yeah the height is thrilling but that's about it. I also am not a huge fan of the restraints. They're comfortable but weird. So that's my over-rated ride of 2012!
  6. That would be fantastic too. I just imagine a slightly updated layout would be their approach to this since woodies have almost turned a new-leaf in the last two to three years. I went on Ghostrider a week ago. Prior to riding it a week ago I rode it 2 years ago, and even then it bummed me out. I did it anyways, and was in 3rd row, front of 2nd car. Practically front. Maybe it's the whiplash talking but SFMM's Psyclone wasn't as bad as Ghostrider is today. I actually didn't MIND Psyclone all that much either. GR's not a bad coaster by any means, it has a fantastic layout and is definitely a coaster I respect (rode it from day 1), but I just hate seeing/riding it like this. Agreed. I normally avoid it, but if I ride it, I can tolerate it. I won't enjoy it too much though.
  7. I'm assuming that since they're building a new family coaster, the next thing they will do is something more for the thrill seekers....I'm praying to the coaster gods that for some reason Knott's wises up and gives Ghostrider some TLC a la the NEW Texas Giant. ONE CAN HOPE! That would be an extremely smart move in my opinion since they're obviously faced with space issues. Plus Ghostrider is a shell of its former self. What used to be one of my top 10 woodies is now just a painful experience. Also, this may have been said before but, Coast rider? Ghostrider? C'mon Knott's. I'm cool with a new family ride, I love them all. But share the disappointment that's an 'off-the-shelf' coaster. Oh well, should keep the kinetic energy alive in that area.
  8. If you think Spiderman sucks, then I can't imagine you'll like the Transformers ride much, either. At least for the Hollywood version, I was a little bummed as it wasn't as "intense" of a ride as Spiderman, in terms of the spinning and the unique motion feeling these rides give you. On top of that it's mostly JUST screens and maybe a piece of a set here or there. If you're purely looking for action sequences (which Spiderman totally has), I guess you might like what the screens have to offer.... I know it's my opinion, but the Spiderman rides story, visuals, fun, and thrill surpasses Transformers. BUT TRANSFORMERS IS A GOOD RIDE, don't get me wrong.
  9. Great stuff! Happy Valley seems like a great park, and I'm itching to go there one day. That Mine train ride looks sexy!
  10. That's not normally the case for most SLC's, right? I've actually never been on one but have never heard about a 200lb weight limit.
  11. What a weird ride. I'm interested as to how this turns out, but was really hoping for a Dive Machine of some sort. It'll definitely be a nice addition, though. Same coaster type as Sky Rocket at Kennywood, right? It seems too far off to the left of LJ's 'area' to be taking over that spot, so yeah, let's hope for another water ride for sure!! Fingers crossed for a "Divertical" type ride. Seriously though, what were they thinking?
  12. This theme park seems MASSIVE. Or it may just be the amount of dead space around the park? Not many people on the day you went. Some of the rides seem fantastic though. How was the TSMM-esque ride?
  13. I was hoping that PP would be replaced with a DIVERTICAL or Pilgrims Plunge type ride, but now seeing that a Dive Machine would actually fit I'd be extremely happy to see one of those as well. There needs to be a Dive Machine in So Cal already. (Also, what's left of KOD? Is the ride still essentially inside that building?)
  14. Looks great. I'm with SharkTums, I love suspended coasters with a lap bar.
