  1. Okay, so I was gifted a last minute trip to New York. I have this coming Saturday free to do whatever I want. I was considering a trip to Great Adventure (I have a lot of Sunday and a few hours on Monday to do New York City stuff that I haven't done before). What will the crowds be awful? If I have to wait 30minutes for food and an hour to do a ride I will skip the park and do Coney Island and other city activities. Thoughts?
  2. So I am about to leave for my Disney/Busch Gardens trip in a few days. I see above many great tips on how to best avoid lines at the park. I just have two questions: 1. what has your experience been like on the Mears shuttle from Orlando? 2. What are the policies with Backpacks at the park. I know Disney lets them on everything, and I am used to Six Flags policy of bins in the station. Will I get those options or are they like Universal where lockers are required. Thanks!
  3. Agreed on that point, it feels like every new ride they are trying to make Fiesta into Over Texas (or visa versa), the Giant atleast was special and then they did Iron Rattler. SFoT needs to get a new ride and something different, Six Flags needs to give a reason for people in Texas to visit both parks, now people just dont see a big enough draw to go to both and just go to the closer park.
  4. I like how both videos are on the website, which contradict each other on when the accident happened. The only things on the video that are the same are park, ride (yay correct information), the 3 click thingy, and the "fact" the lap bar failed...I love tomonews!!
  5. All I could do was laugh at the video, the random scream was almost comical, and the direction she fell...like wtf, I know fifth graders who are smart enough to realize she would have fallen the other way. Whats sad is the creator of the video takes themselves as serious news...
  6. What do expect when over 50 pages have been added to the thread in a matter of a few days...
  7. Perhaps we shall see seatbelts when the ride returns (like Top Thrill Dragster/Millie) in order to help with size restrictions, IF size was the issue here.
  8. FYI the Giant is themed to a 1961 Cadillac (for the year the park opened)
  9. I rode in back Left and front right and both of those seats I felt the tightening of the vest
  10. I too went made my first trip to Cedar Point, I was there Thursday and Friday July 11-12. Being from Texas I am very used to Six Flags parks, only being to one cedar fair park (Carowinds) and then Disney World and Universal in Orlando. Cedar Point was WAY better than I had ever imagined the park. Arriving there two hours after the park opened it was amazing driving around Perimeter Road seeing the great park skyline and having Millennium Force blast past the car at 93 mph. We checked into Hotel Breakers to drop our stuff off in the room and pick up our ticekts. I was shocked at how loud Top Thrill Dragster was, from our hotel room it sounded like a jet airplane taking off next to the hotel. We entered by Magnum, and decided that would make for a good first ride at the point. Jumped on the third row, front car, and I loved the ride. Lots of airtime, (my uncle got a bruise from the lap bar) and plenty of speed. This ride has lasted and is a great hyper coaster. For the second coaster at the park, and my 50th coaster ever, we headed to Top Thrill Dragster. The numerous pictures and videos of this ride really don't capture how powerful and intimidating the ride is. I LOVED the ride and if it weren't for the hour line I would have jumped back in line to feel the rush that 120mph brings to you. We jumped over to Gatekeeper, which was fun but Iron Rattler (possibly Outlaw Run) should win the Golden Ticket for new Coaster. We got in Iron Dragon (fun for the family), Mantis (nowhere near as bad as people make it, straining on the legs but really fun), Mean Streak (stupidly in the back, not as bad as the old Texas Giant but rough), Raptor, Blue Streak, and Millennium Force (at night). I loved Millennium Force, my new number one coaster, nothing beats the speed, height, forces, and length of that ride. I wish there was a bit more airtime but other than that it was a GREAT ride. The second day we started with two rides on Maverick as it was a walk on and while is was a fun extreme ride, I prefered the speed and height of Millie. In the second day we finished off the coasters of the point managed a few repeat rides and then MaxAir, SkyHawk, and Shoot the Rapids. I can not wait to get back to the park. Operations were insanely efficient, like nowhere else on earth, the park was spotlessly clean, and filled with helpful employees. I only wish we could have stayed longer as there were so many rides that I wanted to do but we had to get back to Chicago. My ride rankings in the park: Millennium, Top Thrill, Maverick, Magnum, Gatekeeper, Wicked Twister, Gemini, Blue Streak, Raptor, Mantis, Corkscrew, Cedar Creek Mine Ride, Iron Dragon, Mean Streak
  11. This is a Master Blaster style ride meaning no LIMs...it will be a jet of water shooting up the hill. I am so excited for this, I just wish it were at the original Schlitterbahn (45min from my house)
  12. Either way if you are thinking of doing anything else besides just the rollercoasters I would get Flashpass. You could get the coasters in and maybe a few repeats on Iron Rattler but that is it. July 4th weekend usually sees a few days in which the park hits capacity, which means a multiple hour wait for almost everything. The waterpark will be cramed as well. Good Luck!
  13. So I am going to Cedar Point for the first time ever next week (July 11th and 12th). It is myself and my Uncle going, we are staying at one of the Cedar Point Hotels. I was hoping somebody here could give me advice for how to tackle the park. I live in Texas and it may be a few years before I get back so I want to hit every coaster and major flat rides at least once. I have the following questions and feel free to PM me if you don't want to waste space on this thread: 1) What rides should I hit during the hour of early entry? 2) How should I plan on navigating the park (start in the back and work to the front or is something else better?) 3) Where are the best places to eat? 4) Where are the sweet spots on the rides? (I.E.- New Texas Giant the back is the best) Especially TTD, MF, Gatekeeper, Maverick... 5) I have heard that there is a special way to ride Maverick to make it more comfortable...what is that way? Thanks!
