  1. Agreed, the ending to that house is just torture on the senses. The strobes were hitting so hard for such a long period ( well it seemed like forever) I got to the point where I wanted to run but I kept my cool and was out shortly afterwards. For those who haven't been in it, its not like the finale of the Hallow, the dream state of Nightmare on Elm Street Dreamwalkers, or even Dead Silence. The use of strobes IMO in these houses made it somewhat difficult to see and accelerated movement. Where as the Spawning is like total blinding light going from dark to blinding light quickly. Its an intense last room if your not to keen on strobes. Sorry kind of rambled there.
  2. Ooh I know I know.....Disqualified? WHAT? I really enjoyed my visit to the wax museum. I didn't even want to go but my fiance dragged me in there and I was pleasantly surprised. We were also impressed with how they had the scenes set up so you could get in there and take some wacky pictures. And if my memory serves me right the admission was around 16 dollars a person and we used an online coupon good for like five dollars off admission. Anyways glad you guys had a great time and thanks for sharing as always.
  3. ^Bingo. I was there Thursday as well and it was extremely packed. It was my fourth trip of the event and it was just to busy for me. We left around 8:30 due to all lines being around 45-120 minutes. I saw Robb and the group walk into the park and then chill by the fountain, didn't bother them but I kept thinking to myself now I really know why the RIP tour is worth it when you only have one night. Great pics and hope you guys had a great time.
  4. Here is my initial review for Halloween Horror Nights 19. Mild spoilers ahead. You have been warned. I have been to HHN the last eight years in a row. It is my favorite time of year and I look forward to it starting in about June or July once the screamscape rumors begin to come in. I will start off by saying I didn't enjoy this years as much as last years. Out of the ones I have been to, so far I will rank it #5. But before anyone thinks I am disappointed my feelings towards the event change drastically before its over so take it with a grain of salt. I also have not done all the houses, missed a scarezone and haven't seen Bill and Ted yet either. I will rate everything on a scale of 1 to 5. Five being the highest. We will start off with scarezones or lack there of. The streets this year are just terrible. While not as bad as HHN 16 and the Carnival of Carnage, its lightyears behind last year which I thought had the best streets in all my years going. So lets begin shall we. Containment-OMG whats with the inflatable portal, I felt like I was walking through a section of the discovery zone. Score 1 Apocalyse City of Cannibals-ok this one was bad but it had so much competition from previous years. I didn't understand the point of the victims who walked around not scaring just chilling. Score 2 Horrorwood DrIvE IN-I really enjoyed the concept but it just wasn't scary at all. This is an area that really could of used more FOG. Score 2 Cirque Du Freak-The actors themselves really tried to tie it together and give there all so I applaud them for this. But it was just so small, I mean I don't think I could drive in a circle with a Honda civic small. Score 2 Lights Camera Hacktion-Thank god for the Chainsaw drill team, and its about time they got there own scare zone outside of Disasters entrance plaza. By leaps and bounds the best of the worst. I really enjoyed this one. I will say that the victims/stage hands were blah at best though. Score 4 Now onto the houses. I thought this year had a great variety of houses. I thought that the sets were for the most part incredible. My one main problem with some of the houses this year are not the houses themselves but the scareacters who dwell within them. This event revolves around scares not acting a part with no means of a scare. The Wolfman-The set itself was incredible. I really felt like I was in the woods during parts of this house. I won't say to much negative since I have only been once and it seemed like all the actors went for the girls in front of me so I missed just about all the scares. This house has potential but until I see it. Score 3 Leave it to Cleaver-For the love of god turn on the AC. I know it doesn't have AC so ignore that. I really enjoyed the sets and thought it to be a complete house. I did not however enjoy the roles of the scareactors in this house. I didn't have a single person attempt to scare me the whole way through. It had the least impressive sets and blah actors. I did enjoy the ending with Meaty Meatz and the chainsaw though. Score 2 Saw-If you enjoy the movies like I do then this is a must do. Its definetly more entertaining than scary but the actors in the traps were incredible. Hats off to the razor face guy, the best by a long shot. The ending with the pigmasks in 360 degrees was very cool as well. The house was awesome just not scary. Score 3 Frankenstein-Those monsters were huge. The costumes here I thought were the best of the event. I got a few good scares in here from the monsters. But not a single one from the Doctors. This is where I just wondered what are you doing? They didn't even try. I thought the house should of focused more on the monsters and laid off all the docs who just yelled get out or he's gonna kill you. The set was over the top though and just incredible. Another house with huge potential. Score 3 Dracula-If you were a fan of castle vampyr(who wasn't) then there is no way you can miss this house. The entrance was just amazing!!! As soon as you walk in the house becomes fully immersive. The brides were great, the sets just awesome. The house fully delivered in the scare department as well. My only knock was only seeing the count once and it was brief cause he go the people in front of me. Other than that second best house of the event and in to my top ten instantly. Score 5 Silver Screams-the best house of the night. It has the total package. Great sets, storyline, and the best actors of the night. The entrance is amazing. I walked in and saw the sign lit up and all of a sudden the sign turns down and instantly looks old and decrepit. Once in, I really thought I was in an old style movie theater. The thing was great and I miss that house by the way. Best set for me was the Strangers. It just creep-ed me out bad. The ushers also did an excellent job of HIDING and SCARING. Something the actors in other houses should try to do. An instant classic and another house in my personal top ten. Score 5 I look forward to seeing how the event will progress. I fully expect the Wolf man and Saw to get better. I will update my house ratings further into the event. Just in case anyone wanted to know here is my rankings for the first night I went. 1.Silver Screams 2.Dracula 3.Saw 4.Frankenstein 5.Wolf man 6.Leave it to Cleaver.
  5. Its a must especially if you only have one night there. Your best strategy is to get there early hit up like two or three soundstage houses before the lines get to long then start using your express pass. I have done it every year and I am always able to do all the houses, most of them twice, see bill and ted and maybe a ride or two. Those HHN express passes are worth every penny so make sure you invest in them.
  6. I saw that, I like how its directly after Disney's press conference. Lets hope the Orlando Sentinel has its info straight. I can't wait for this!!! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/orl-bk-universal-harry-potter-090309,0,286483.story
  7. The show was terrible, its the only themepark related show I actually deleted from my tivo before it was over. The best parts on the show were the measly two minutes of giant drop and the chick in the green bikini on the raft slide at Schliterbahn that the camera man kept pointing his camera at.
  8. New pics courtesy of Disneyhead at OU http://www.orlandounited.com/forums/showthread.php?p=69754#post69754
  9. I also wanted to point out there is a RUMOR going around that September 15 Universal will have a press conference. Take it for what its worth though, I can't imagine them not waiting until after Disney shows there cards during D23 Expo.
  10. ^It is such a beautiful place to walk around. Some of the trails will take your breath away...literally if your overweight, smoke, and live in the flat state of Florida. Great pics as always though. For those who still have not been to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville make a trip its a great place to spend a week and take it all in.
  11. It will be open during your visit! I cant imagine it closing for any retheming until after the holiday season. I haven't had the chance to do any updates cause my camera is broken, but I was just there this past Wednesday and Hogwarts has begun its castle exterior and the rock work is going up quickly. ^Check here for the most recent up to date pics. http://www.orlandounited.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9&page=71
  12. I think this has already been mentioned but now I guess its safe to say that Silver Screams will be in the parade building (Scary Tales last year). I am definitely more excited to see what they do with the classic monster vs saw or chucky. I think its gonna be another awesome year. Now if we can just get that damn Rockit figured out!
  13. ^ I don't want to fuel rumors either but one possibility could be that BGT may already have the rights to a B&M hypercoaster set to open with the next two to three years and Universal would not be able to build a ride of that design for years to come. I mean isn't there a contract where you can't build the same ride type within so much time and within so many miles. If that's the case going with another manufacturer makes sense. What I can't understand is why Florida is Intamin less, that's what we should be discussing here.
  14. ^Yeah there is a link somewhere amongst 260+ pages to an article from the Orlando sentinel that says the ride came in at a cost of 55 million.
