  1. I don't know if this is such a great idea, even Disney has designated smoking areas. I'm not saying that they should allow smoking, but as an ex-smoker if there aren't any smoking areas and smoking wasn't allowed I would smoke anywhere I wanted and not care. At least with two or three smoking ares in a park you can confine the problem to small areas away from the rest of the guests.
  2. That one drop on Space Mountain at Disneyland. You know, the one that come out of nowhere and is synced up with the music as you fall (at least it used to, I haven't been on the new one). It's not a very big drop, but the surprise of it gets me every time. Then again, I think a lot of coasters in the dark have drops like that. Nightmare at Great Escape has a couple of those. Even though it's a simple Jet Star coaster not being able to see the drops ahead of time make them that much more thrilling.
  3. Oh god, I remember those commercials... or rather that one commercial. I never went there but I remember when I was a kid that they aired the same commercial for years. Then all of a sudden, it stopped. I do remember though that the coaster looked huge when I was a kid. Granted when I was a kid I also thought the railroad at the Santa Barbara Zoo was a roller coaster.
  4. Well, I for one, am not going on Kingda Ka until the wait is less than 30 minutes. Hopefully it will still be a good ride in 2018.
  5. It's boring, it's rough, and it sucks! I don't know what it is.. I'm usually not very picky when it comes to coasters. Thinking back though, I can't imagine a worse coaster i've been on. It's not that it's too slow, because it has it's good moments... it's just boring.. overall. The train hardly ever gets up to speed to the point where some of the turns feel like you're going to fall out because there aren't enough g's to make you feel like you're pinned to the seat. I understand the idea of making a family coaster and all, but there are so many better "family" coasters out there (mainly all of them!). It just seems to go so slow that it can hardly make it up the hills. Weird ride...
  6. The Mattherhorn when I was 3, though I would consider my first "real" coaster to be Demon at PGA when I was 24 (a year and a half ago).
  7. Hmm... Disneyland: at least once a year since I was 3 Knotts: a handful of times USH: once SFMM: once Great Escape: 5 times I think Disneyworld: once SFNE: once PGA: once SCBB: almost once a day for a year or so when I lived nearby
  8. Hmmmm... Best steel: CA Screamin' Best wood: Giant Dipper Worst Steel: Hurricane at SCBB Worst Wood: Grizzly, hands down
  9. Hurricane at the Santa Cruz Beach Boarwalk. The ride itself isn't that big, but they build it on top of a building, so that first little drop feels like you're really high up. Something about that ride has never felt safe to me. It's like it never builds up enough speed around those banked turns so you constantly feel like you're going to fall out unless you hold on for dear life. I find it ironic that I can go on huge coasters, but that tiny little coaster scares the piss out of me.
  10. SFNE's Cyclone. That was the first time I experienced true pain on a roller coaster.
  11. I didn't know you could black out on a coaster. I've never come even close.
  12. You can find a great POV of Medusa here: http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/onride_videos/ Look at the lovely parking lot
  13. Yay for my home park getting a decent new coaster! That ride is going to be awesome at night with the skyline of Montreal in the background!
  14. Has anyone heard of Interactive Ride's NAVY: "The Experience"? While it's not technically a flying coaster, I could see it mistaken for a flying coaster. See it for yourself.. http://www.interactiverides.com/pages/Coasters.html#
  15. Disneyland in late November/early December during the week is freakin awesome. They might not be open as late as usual, but you can get 5 times as many rides in as you would during the summer. Plus, It's a Small World looks awesome at night when it's decorated.
