  1. I'm sure it will be affected but I don't think it will be too bad. It shouldn't be any worse than a week day commute to the park for you. But that's just my opinion. Personally I think this "carmageddon" crap is blown out of proportion by the media. Wait the media blow something out of proportion?? NOOO!!!!
  2. ^ Exactly, I'd be willing to bet it cost more to operate that ride for half the operating season than the total cost of removing it.
  3. Reposted. Imagine how much it would cost to bulldoze the lake, remove a flume that's built into the hillside, demolish the station, remove trees, etc. It's a popular ride, and doesn't make much sense to remove (Aside from freeing up land). Why would they have to "bulldoze" the lake? And even if they did choose to remove the lake, it wouldn't cost that much, cause there are a lot of contractors that have their equipment just sitting right now with the way the economy is and the park would get a good price on the work. Even demoing all the trees in that area wouldn't cost much. The removal of the flume and other parts of the ride would cost more than the dirt work.
  4. If they are estimated ride times I don't trust them. But if someone actually entered it in I do. Yea I should have said that they were entered times. Not the "estimated" times. I think some punk kid was there putting in bogus times all day cause I would change a ride to the correct wait and it seemed like half an hour later they would change back to something outrageous.
  5. ^After going yesterday, I'm not sure I will ever trust that app again. It showed a wait time 60 minutes for scream when it was only a 5-10 minute wait, it also showed Superman was a 120 minute wait when I only waited 55. It also showed Goliath had a 120 minute wait and batman had a 90 minute wait which I'm pretty sure they weren't anywhere near that.
  6. ^Exactly, and it's not like Magic Mountain needs more room, there are plenty of locations to support more rides without having to add the cost of removing decent rides.
  7. ^ Yea just while waiting in line I saw a few cars leave with two people on one side and only one on the other. I'd like to see what the ride is like while balanced so I have something to compare to.
  8. Ok I will attempt a mini trip report. Here goes! The last time I was at the park was before Tatsu was opened, so about 5 years so I was disappointed to have missed the chance to ride it today since it was down. That was the ride I was most looking forward to riding. Oh well it just gives me an excuse to go back. We ended up getting through the front gates around 10:40 and went straight to green lantern. We waited about 35 minutes to ride and rode on the side away from riddlers, facing batman. HOLY CRAP I was surprised at the intensity of that ride. My brother and I have a combined weight of a tad over 500 pounds and the opposite riders maybe were half of our weight at most. As soon as we left the station we were facing straight down and had 3 flips (I think) on the ride. Wow is all I have to say about that ride. It was nuts!! So next we decided to go to Apocolypse and I must say, the pre shows were pretty cool. They were definitely cheesy but a nice touch for Magic Mountain. We waited bout 25-30 minutes and rode in the very last row. Very fun ride, one of my favorites in the park! The station fly by is pretty cool and seemed to scare everyone who was waiting to get on. Oh and the ride is still only running one train, I could only imagine the wait on a busy day. Next up was Deja Vu, rode in the very last row and still think that ride kicks ass! We waited about 20 minutes and they were dispatching pretty quick. Man I love that first vertical tower! We then decided to head over to X2. They had 2 trains running and were dispatching pretty consisntantly. We waited about 45 minutes, and rode in the front row, on the side opposite of viper. I was disappointed to read the audio was down a couple days ago, but when we got on the ride I realized the audio was working! I can't explain how much the audio adds to that ride! It was a very nice touch and I'm not sure if they were playing it louder than before but I had no problem hearing it throughout the entire ride. The flames were pretty cool but wasn't as "cool" as I was expecting them to be. All in all had a very nice ride on it and it's still my favorite drop in the park. Next up was Mooseburger Lodge. Had a very good burger and fries. But service was a little slow. And didn't provide the same "feel" that I used to get when going there in years past. Just seemed run down kinda. I dunno maybe its just me. After lunch we went up the mountain to Superman. I noticed In the morning the ride was only running the right side but while we were in line for X2 they started running the left side as well. The total wait was about 1 hour but they were cycling very slow! I think there was something going on with the ride ops cause there was a manager or someone that was talking to the ops while we were onboard waiting to launch and we were sitting there for a good 3 or 4 minutes waiting and the ops looked like they were in trouble or something, lol. Anyway, we rode in the front row and boy this was by far my favorite in the park! I always enjoyed the ride before, but it's on a whole new level now! Very impressed with the changes! We closed the day out going to Scream and waited a whole 10 minutes for the front row. The ride is very fun and I still don't know why people say it's rough for a b&m, I think it's pretty smooth. It's on par with batman and riddler in my opinion. Overall it was a great day at the park, I'm very impressed with the look and feel of the park. Compared to 5 years ago it feels very clean and fresh now. The staff was VERY friendly and upbeat. They are definitely going in the right direction with the park. I look forward to going back very soon and FINALLY getting my ride on Tatsu. Oh and by the way, I'm not sure what was wrong with Goliath yesterday, but it opened with the park and ran all day so whatever was wrong with it, it wasn't anything major. Thanks for reading!
  9. I'm at the park right now, and crowds are light. Tatsu will be down at least all day according to the guys at the entrance. And yes x2 has at least one train with working audio and I heard the audio throughout the entire ride. And Goliath has been running all day so I'm not sure what was going on with that ride.
  10. Thanks for the reply Robb. Yea I was thinking of going straight to Green Lantern since I've ridden the original X. Figure I'd ride the back half of the park and superman then get back to X2. It's been over 5 years since I've been to the park so I'm looking forward to everything new they have to offer.
  11. Wow that sucks! I missed riding Tatsu right before it opened and hadn't had the chance to get back to the park since. And now that I finally get the chance to go back tomorrow, it's gonna be closed. Oh well that's life I guess. With Tatsu closed, what would be the best ride to hit first? Green Lantern or X2?
  12. Mega lite sounds A-ok with me!! Sounds plausible too, considering they are working with Intamin.
  13. Im sure with a little creative engineering they could fit a hyper in without taking out Rapids. Its not like rapids takes up alot of vertical real estate so it would be easy to build on top of rapids. Now PP might need to be removed, but its been a few years since I've been to the park so I cant really remember how much room it really takes up.
  14. True, they will still have to compete with each other, but if I were the average tourist, and have visited all the parks before, I would still make it a point to visit all of them again regardless if they have added anything new or not. The only reason I wouldn't visit one of the parks is if I had a VERY bad experience at one. I go to SFMM quite a few times in a year, and they dont have to add a new attraction every month to keep me coming back that much. The reason I return so often is because I enjoy whats there already, and I think the same goes for tourists, if they have never been they will go to see it for the first time, if they have been before they will go to enjoy it all again, especially if they know they cant return for a few years. So if Disney adds a new multi billion dollar attraction good enough to bring people from all around the world, most of those tourists dont come out for just a few days, they come for a week or more and fit all they can into their trip. So the only competition I see is how close the surrounding parks are, and in that case, Knotts has the clear advantage.
  15. ^ I think a full circuit launched ride would be a great addition to the mountain, along with plenty of airtime and fast intense turns and elements. Something from Intamin!
