  1. ^ That's all my dad ever called it. Just "Marriot's". I never understud why untill he told me the story about how the Demon came to be.
  2. ^ Marriott was the company that built both of the Great Americas. My uncle was part of a construction co. that was hired when Marriott sold the Santa Clara park to Paramount in the 80's. I still have the Paramount Parks jacket he gave me.
  3. I'm really excited about the unveiling of this park. 5 roller coasters inside one building could be some sort of record! The only thing that baffles me is the Spongebob coaster. I'd say that the projected audience for SBSP is the 7-11 age group. Rollercoasters with 95 degree drops and multiple inversions might be more in the 14 and up crowd. Although, Spongebob has a serious cult following that people of all ages are guilty of taking part in. My grandma loves Spongebob, and she's 79!
  4. ^ Pleased to hear that. I'd like to go to SFSt.L some day, but not untill I hear that Eagle and Boss have improved. I hear the G-trains on Boss are killer, and not in a good way.
  5. I really must appluade HW for knowing how to reach customers, and know what it is that park lovers crave--SUSPENSE!
  6. While not as marketable, I think SF really should have gone back a re-profiled their other wooden coasters. Screamin' Eagle and Boss look like great rides, but their reputations seem mediocre at best. Some TLC for these coasters could benefit the park more than a new coaster. On the other hand, A great new coaster will generate traffic, and SF couldn't have gone with a better coaster company to provide a ride all together different from what they already have. Since this will be the park's twister wooden coaster, GCI is really the perfect choice. Hopefully, the other woodies will receive tune-ups in the future.
  7. It's such a shame that Opryland is gone. Gathering from the research I've done, and the people I've talked to, is seems a lot like Dollywood. Also, the shopping mall that replaced Opryland is officially ghetto. The Alabama Grill was replaced by..........furniture consignment. *shudders* If Nashville wasn't already regretting the removal of the park, then they certainly were after the shootings that occurred in the mall food court around a year ago.
  8. WDW Space Mountian seems a tad lacking. From what I remeber, is was rickety, slow, and lacked the illusion of "space". DL's, on the other hand, was a much better ride in my opinion. However, I have to give WDW's Space Mountian credit for starting an eternal Disney coaster trend.
  9. These are fascinating. I especially like the Batman silhouette; I'd love to see more like it!
