  1. Wow...what a flashback! My Grandfather worked for National Gas and Electric and they would have a picnic at Crystal Beach each summer and we would go. I was so young that I did not ride coasters, but I remember Crystal Beach pretty good. They had this cool fun house with air jets in the floor that would shoot air up at you when you walked over them. I remember my family saying that the original Comet use to turn and go out over the water but that was modified later (rumor or not, you decide). Thank you so much for sharing your pictures! I enjoyed the trip down memory lane!
  2. They were testing the coaster on Sunday when I was at Universal Studios. The only thing that seems odd is it slows down between each element. I have some pictures to post, but they need to be edited down before I can post them...hope to post them tonight. It looks like an interesting coaster.
  3. 1. What do you find most useful about the front page? All the updates, you seem to have a great knack of choosing the best posts to highlight. 2. What do you find least useful about the front page? "Click here for past front page updates" 3. Is anything on the front page confusing? No, its well laid out and you can find what you want. 4. How far do you scroll down the front page looking for updates? All the way to the bottom! I think you should rotate it out on a set basis (like say 3 months...or 6 months...) 5. How often do you look at the front page? I check the site at least once a week. 6. How often do you click on the "whatsnew" link? Where is there a whatsnew link on the homepage?? (oh no, I have looked at so many coaster pictures and videos, I must be going blind!!) 7. What would you like to see added to the front page to make your visits to TPR better? Nothing, it is a great site and easy to navigate. 8. Anything else you would like to mention? Like any thing else you would like to see us add/change/leave alone/etc? Some updated graphics would be cool, but overall I love the site. Until I came across TPR, I did not realize how many coaster geeks existed! Keep up the great work!
  4. One of the best TRs I have read on this site this side of Robb and Elissa's of course. GREAT pictures buddy...I almost feel like I was there at times...sigh. Guess I need to save my pennies to go on a Trip...was going to do East Coast, but it is too long away from work to use up almost all of my vacation on it....dammit. Around a week and a half is my limit...anyway, I digress....Thank you so much for sharing your 500 + pictures with us! HUGS!
  5. Not exactly. What they did in this case was to take out the entire turn around and rebuild it from scratch. If you look in the beginning of the thread you can see pictures where they took out the turn around and rebuilt it.
  6. I was able to get some updated pictures of the retracking and the new sign. They have completed the turn around (except some of the side braces) and were working this week on the actual track. You can see the clamps on the wood track if you look closely. The new sign is up but not lighted yet (in the early morning, the sign has not been lit). New meets old If you look closely you can see the clamps on the new track New meets old The new sign!
  7. FLIPDUDE just made my entire Holiday season!! I was on the couch at my parents and they are all stressed out about going to my grandparents tonight for christmas eve (they do this every year and I just try to stay out of the way), so I logged onto their wireless and this was on the home page! I want a miniature Cedar Fair garbage can!! ROTFLOL!! Kudos to a jewish boy for making Christmas fun. If only everyone in the world could get along like all the roller coaster freaks do! Happy holidays to everyone at TPR! Cannot wait for the East Coast Trip!
  8. If you want to post my pictures on your site, feel free. What is the URL? I would like to check it out. The sign is almost complete at the entrance and the supports are all up to connect the track together on, but I have not had a chance to take any pictures and am I currently traveling for the holidays...
  9. Finally got a chance to read your thread...I love the TPR park...keep up the good work! RCT3 is awesome (but time consuming)!
  10. Great TR as usual...you made me laugh so hard. I especially enjoy the story as you scroll through the pictures! Keep it real!
  11. That is cool...it should be ready for the East Coast trip for us!! Woo Hoo...thank you for the great pictures!
  12. Ok..was able to get some more pictures today, I was running late on my break, so I was not able to get close to the construction workers, but if you look in the pictures, they are piling the structure up in neat piles today. Its odd to see the track end up in the air like that! I also got a couple of pictures of the sign without anything on it, again, it looks kinda odd. Will be interesting to see how Cedar Fair's new sign will look. I have to travel to Houston until Saturday, but maybe I will stop by the park on Sunday and try to get some more pictures up close. The workers saw me taking pictures and did not seem to mind (I think they are fascinated that someone is interested!) The sign from the Circle K parking lot The sign without any neon... If you look on the left here, you can see the structure stacked up... Again, you can see the supports stacked up...
  13. It would be nice if they worked on Hurler, it feels like it has square wheels although if you can ignore the pain, the runaway feeling and airtime after the first hill is amazing! When I drove by today (on my way to work) I noticed the sign is blank too. They took all the neon paramount stuff and the CAROWINDS off, its just a plain white piece of metal sitting there now. If I get a chance tomorrow I will take a picture and post it. Kudos to people in the area adding pictures to the post. Its exciting that we live close to a park doing work so we can report on it. Carowinds is not by far the best park, but it can be fun and I am excited to see what Cedar Fair will pump into it in the next couple of years. My vote is with an maXair myself...maybe we could email campaign for it to be added! Hopefully tomorrow I can add some more pictures.
