  1. Is there a source on that because I highly doubt Kärnan and Monster would cost the same. After a quick search on Google, I found that Kärnan was build at a cost of 26 million euros. (Source) While Monster costs around 9 million USD. (Source) I meant Karacho and not Karnan costing around 9M. I hadn't looked up the info recently, both K names. my bad.. Infinity coasters have a broad range of cost. Smiler cost 18M Pounds(22+M USD) - 98H,3838ft long, about 53mph, 14 inversions. Karacho (LIM Launch) cost 7M Euros(7.8M USD) - 98H, 2300 ft long, 62mph, 4 inversions Gold Rush - 5M euros (5.6M USD) - 108ft, 1312 ft long, 2 inversions
  2. Agree, but the problem at SFMM is that, for several rides, it's hard to tell what kind of state the line is in until you're well into it. Goliath and Apocalypse are good examples, but also Batman, Superman, and Riddler to a certain degree. OMG yes especially Goliath. It's impossible to see anything until you get to the drink machine which is like halfway I avoid Goliath b/c of that and waiting for it over 10 minutes isn't worth it. It's just not a good hyper, a drop that is wasted b/c its meager angle, no airtime on the hills, mid course "come to a complete stop run", etc... There is reason the builder just has 4 or 5 coasters installed.
  3. The old fashion way of eye balling a line and having experience of previous waits for that distance in line is more reliable than modern tech...Lol. I have had many times where people see the wait time listed on the sign and are about to turn away and I tell them it's not nearly as long, the sign is way off. Not having enough staff is across SF parks from my experience, not just MM. Look how the 2 chains run the staff on their respective B&M wings, Gatekeeper vs Xflight or TTD vs Kingda Ka. SF would be incapable of cranking train out like they do on Maverick with 6 train operations.
  4. So... Wonder Woman is a screamer?? You will have to ask Gal Gadot's husband.
  5. Okay, more what one may call "European parks" flat rides Zamperla is selling more stuff in the US lately, I think the Luna Park showcase of their rides is helping and Owa should boost that more. I really like the Zamperla rides I have been on. I wish SF would buy more Endeavours and try out a Hawk, Power Surge, and the Super spin. Air Race's also looks cool or in the same genre SF could try a Gerstlauer Sky roller or Sky Fly. Never been on Fabbri rides, but checked out their website and they have some interesting looking stuff, some of it is similar in concept to Zamperla's. Mondial has some interesting things that Cedar Fair is trying like the Inferno(CA Wonderland 2017) and Top Scan(KB 2017). The Mondial Tornado and Super Nova also seem like good rides. I'm still hoping somebody buys a Huss 2nd gen Enterprise.
  6. Don't necessarily trust the times. I was there multiple days in May and at points Ninja popped on the app at 45 minutes. I was in the area on 1 occasion just getting off Tatsu, going to Superman and there was probably 30 to 40 people in line, no way it was 45 minutes. I have had numerous experiences of already being in line for the ride that the app is showing a way longer wait for than what I am experiencing.
  7. VR opens with the park. I went to it 1st 1 visit and got on 2nd train of the day. The early entry for Gold Pass you will see on the far right after going thru security. They have a gut that scans your pass to make sure it's Gold. Then at 10am they let you thru the barred gate with the standard pass scanning to enter. Then, they hold you in an area just past the gate. Early entry for rides is suppose to be 1020am, it was not on time every day I went.
  8. Wow, that's an interesting list of "most want to hit rides." Ninja and Viper will be probably walk ons or 5 minute waits. Revolution just go to it first when the park opens unless you want to wait hours later in the day.
  9. Non traditional flats? What would that be? SF is a creature of habit and cloning. Only 3 SF parks are without Sky Screamers and I would bet GAm and MM will get them soon. SF is likely going to keep on installing Giant Discoveries, 3 in the last 2 years. Another staple flat ride that many patrons like. I expect they will come up with a new clone ride for the super loop. They may have topped off after 8 in a 2yr span and none last year. Of course they did take a yr break in sky screamers after installing at least 1 every year for 5 years and then went back to it in 2017.
  10. Infinity coasters built like Karnan,Karacho, Smiler have 960/hr capacity and not the 500/hr of Monster. The have 4 trains with 16 passengers per train and not 3 trains with 8 passengers per train. Gold Rush runs 20 passenger trains with 800/hr capacity. Infinity coasters are never going to be line eaters, but Monster is the absolute low end of capacity.
  11. The launch system of the trains accelerates to a speed that allows them to just scale the hill. A ride computer regulates the amount of energy transmitted for each launch. Beyond operator inputs, the computer also receives signals from inductive sensors near the top of the hill detect when a coaster passes by. The sensors are spaced a equal distance apart and thus the computer can calculate velocity by measuring the time interval. If calculations show a train has gone too slow or too fast, the computer tells the launch system to increase or decrease speed of the next launch. The computer evaluates speed of the last three trains and calculates an average. This determines speed of the next train. So if three consecutive coasters are filled with lighter weight passengers, then a bunch of heavier total weight passengers fill the next one, that fourth coaster probably will be a roll back. If you ever go on a slow day you may notice that CP will leave 2 or even 3 middle rows empty if the crowds are so light that trains are not being filled. This is to keep passengers per train more consistent and with the calculations described reduce the chances of failed launches.
  12. What? Batman is probably the smoothest coaster in the entire park. GAdv Batman is rough compared to other Batman's...SFMM is butter. I have ridden Batman's at 5 parks in the last 10 months and GAdv was near the bottom of the smooth list.
  13. If they do go with something similar to Monster, I just hope they build a dual-loading platform like TTD or Maverick and that they run 4 trains at a time. The Infinity coasters do look like a lot of fun, but they aren't know for their capacity. Gerstlauer certainly would fit the "renewed relationship" that Ouimet was referring to and a vertical lift hill would be a first for SoCal. Also, Screamscape just posted that they are hearing that Knott's new coaster is going to be a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster project. If this is the case, I'd like to see Knott's get a larger model with 200ft or so drop. An infinity like Karnan, 230ft drop is what you're talking about maybe, just add more inversions than Karnan. Karnan and Monster cost both around 9M. Karnan runs 4-16 passenger trains with 960/hr capacity and Monster 3-8 passenger trainswith 500/hr capacity. I don't see them going with a infinity like Smiler which was around 22M when you do the conversions. Smilers 14 inversions is a bit much.
  14. Expansion at SF parks is rarely about space, it's money and ROI. A bunch of the parks have prime non utilized space.
  15. Unfortunately this will likely happen and SF has hinted at it. Having a dark ride at all parks is fine, but the same exact one, not so much. It's not like putting in skyscreamers or some staple flat ride. Come up with a new concept/theme for 1/2 the dark ride installations would be nice.
